After Dong Tianyi entered his PIN and settled the service fee, Brother Wolf immediately got up and left. Duanmu Lei and Dong Tianyi glanced at their watches, saw it was nearly noon, and hurriedly headed back to the hospital.
Duanmu Lei, being an old hand at this, stopped by an hourly hotel on the way back to take a shower, washing away the grime and debauchery from both of them before they arrived at the hospital.
“Bloody hell! It’s raining now!”
Duanmu Lei and Dong Tianyi, having gone out gallivanting without umbrellas, grumbled as they stepped out of the taxi and reached the hospital entrance.
Once inside, Duanmu Lei noticed something odd: several male doctors lit up when they saw him, even flashing him smiles.
This instantly lifted his spirits, and he figured it must be the perk of hanging around Dong Tianyi.
Meanwhile, Dong Tianyi’s head still felt a bit fuzzy, but he paid no mind to the looks. His main concern now was Auntie Li’s condition.
After all, as long as Auntie Li’s health held up, that irritating Xu Fei would be barred from practising medicine for good.
Even if Duanmu Qing disliked him, her brother could put in a good word. Dong Tianyi refused to believe he couldn’t win over that delicate little beauty!
“So, Auntie Li, how are you feeling today?”
The moment Dong Tianyi stepped into the room, he made a beeline for the bed, only to be stopped by Duanmu Qing.
“My mum’s doing fine right now, she’s just asleep! No need for you to fuss.”
Seeing Auntie Li sleeping soundly, Dong Tianyi puffed out his chest with confidence, while Duanmu Lei perked up beside him.
“Hey! You shameless git, how can you be so thick-skinned? It’s the second day now, my mum’s still fine, so why haven’t you sodded off from the hospital yet?”
Xu Fei didn’t get angry at this. Instead, he smiled faintly and pointed at the sky.
“It’s raining today, aren’t you the least bit worried?”
Duanmu Lei, still a bit muddled, hadn’t noticed until Xu Fei’s remark jogged his memory. He pointed at Xu Fei and kept up the mockery.
“Worried about what? Sure, my mum’s had this condition for decades, her back always hurts like mad whenever it’s overcast or rainy.”
“But now, after Dr. Dong’s treatment, look at that downpour outside, my mum’s got no issues at all! Doesn’t that prove Dr. Dong’s cured her? You’re nothing but a quack who doesn’t deserve to be called a doctor!”
Dong Tianyi seized the moment, chiming in with smug assurance.
“I say, Dr. Ye, we medical folks have ethics, don’t we? What’s this, Dr. Ye doesn’t know how to honour a bet?”
At that, Xu Fei stood up and walked over to Auntie Li’s bedside. Duanmu Qing, without drawing attention, slipped her hand under the blanket and gave Auntie Li a gentle pinch.
“Ow! My… my back! My back hurts so much! Somebody help!”
For some reason, Auntie Li suddenly woke up, clutching her back and crying out in pain. This left Dong Tianyi and Duanmu Lei, who’d been so cocksure moments ago, looking uneasy.
“Auntie Li? Auntie Li, what’s wrong?”
“My… my back’s killing me!”
“Let me take a look!”
