But the fact was, they’d caught up.
Lin Yun immediately powered up his flying ship, pushing its speed to burst into a streak of light as he fled!
“Chase me, let’s see if you can keep up!” Lin Yun snarled, his face twisted.
His ship was exorbitantly expensive, at full throttle, its speed was astonishing!
Though running it at max drained spirit crystals at a terrifying rate, Lin Yun couldn’t afford to care about that now.
On the pursuing ship.
Hui Jue and the Soul Refining Sect Leader stood on the deck, gazing ahead.
“Haha, we’ve finally caught him, how’s he going to escape now?” the Soul Refining Sect Leader laughed.
Hui Jue suddenly exclaimed, “He’s fleeing in his ship! How’s it so fast!”
The Soul Refining Sect Leader focused, seeing Lin Yun’s ship pulling away at breakneck speed, his laughter died abruptly.
“Damn it, how!” he cried out.
They’d been thrilled when they nearly caught him, certain Lin Yun was done for!
Who’d have thought he’d have such a top-notch ship?
“His ship seems high-grade! How does he have something so costly! He’s just a Mahayana cultivator, even the Heavenly Sword Sect couldn’t afford this!” Hui Jue marvelled.
“This brat’s got too many treasures and secrets, killing him will be a massive haul!” the Soul Refining Sect Leader said with resolve.
Having seen Lin Yun wield so many treasures, ones they could only dream of, it hardened their determination to kill him—not just for vengeance, but to seize his riches!
In moments, Lin Yun’s ship vanished from their sight.
“Don’t worry, with me here, we’ll catch him, no matter how fast he is, he’ll run out of steam eventually! Plus, my ship’s no slouch!” Hui Jue said.
His ship, worth tens of millions, wasn’t as fast as Lin Yun’s but wasn’t far behind.
Hui Jue’s eyes flashed with golden light again, locking onto Lin Yun’s direction, he pushed his ship to its limit, tearing after him!
Thus began a two-day chase, Lin Yun couldn’t sustain top speed indefinitely, so he slowed slightly, ensuring he stayed ahead of his pursuers.
By now, he’d flown to the edge of the Demonic Beast Mountain Range.
Over those two days, unsure where to go, he’d zigzagged through various places, unable to shake his pursuers, ending up here unintentionally.
“Into it!”
Without hesitation, Lin Yun steered his ship straight into the range, then quickly landed.
He knew this was demon beast territory, flying here would be too conspicuous—he didn’t dare!
Behind him.
Hui Jue and the Soul Refining Sect Leader’s ship arrived at the range not long after.
But their ship halted abruptly, stopping outside.
They stood on the deck, peering into the Demonic Beast Mountain Range.
“Damn it, he dared charge right in! Is he courting death?” the Soul Refining Sect Leader cursed.
“I’m not going in there, Soul Refining Sect Leader, if your Zhutian Alliance wants to chase him inside, go ahead, I’m staying out,” Hui Jue said firmly.
He clearly dreaded the range and had no intention of entering.
“You think I want to?” the Soul Refining Sect Leader rolled his eyes.
“Then we’ll block him from out here, I don’t believe he’ll stay inside forever, if he doesn’t come out, the demon clan will finish him off!” Hui Jue suggested.
“Hmm, good point! Let’s do it,” the Soul Refining Sect Leader nodded.
So, they set up camp outside.
The empire stationed troops beyond the range, a soldier flew over to inquire, learning it was a sect’s personal grudge, they didn’t press further, their duty was to guard against the demon clan, not meddle in such affairs.
But the soldier couldn’t help muttering that whoever rushed into the range was as good as dead!
Inside the Demonic Beast Mountain Range.
Lin Yun landed at its edge.
“Hmm? They’re not coming in, just guarding outside?”
Probing with his divine sense, he found them stationed beyond the range.
“Looks like they’re too scared to enter,” Lin Yun sneered.
This was good, he’d finally shaken them off.
Though he’d outpaced them before, staying in the Xingwu Empire meant they’d keep chasing, a constant hassle.
Now, entering the range took him beyond the empire’s borders.
“With them guarding out there, getting out will be tricky,” Lin Yun’s expression grew serious.
Having spent years on the cultivation continent, he knew the range’s dangers, even Immortals tread carefully here, it was fully under demon clan control, their sovereign territory.
Spanning vast, boundless expanses, it dwarfed even the Xingwu Empire.
What now? Going out seemed impossible, they’d blocked his retreat.
No way back, only forward!
A bold idea struck Lin Yun—to cross the Demonic Beast Mountain Range and reach another empire!
It might be his only option.
The range sat at the continent’s heart, splitting it into four, crossing it would undoubtedly lead to another empire.
If anyone heard this plan, they’d call Lin Yun mad!
Cross the range? What a joke!
If he succeeded, it’d be a feat to stun the human cultivators of the entire continent.
He certainly couldn’t fly across, too flashy, the demon clan would spot him, shoot him down, and kill him!
Crossing on foot, though, was a daunting challenge.
“Hmm, Little Monkey?”
Lin Yun sensed something—Little Monkey!
“It… it’s in the range!” he gasped.
Back when he arrived on the cultivation continent, he’d come with Little Monkey, but they’d been separated during teleportation, landing in different places.
Since then, he’d tried contacting it, but the vast distance made their contract’s link too faint to sense.
Now, he could feel Little Monkey’s presence!
