The metal bear showed no reaction.
“Big Brother, its internal array hub is likely damaged,” Huo Zhen said.
The metal bear’s ‘intelligence’ relied on its internal array, much like a chip or program in an Earth robot.
“Damn it!” A wave of sorrow surged across Lin Yun’s face.
The metal bear had ended up like this protecting him.
“Big Brother, we can give it to Senior Du Yuanzi. He might be able to repair it,” Huo Zhen suggested.
“Right!” Lin Yun’s eyes lit up.
Du Yuanzi was a master of arrays; he might fix the bear’s damaged array.
“Big Brother, I’ll go get Senior Du Yuanzi,” Huo Zhen said, hurrying off.
Moments later, Huo Zhen returned with Du Yuanzi.
“Senior Du Yuanzi, the metal bear’s internal array is damaged. Can you repair it?” Lin Yun got straight to the point.
“Let me take a look,” Du Yuanzi said, crouching to inspect the bear.
“My heavens, this array is so intricate, so profound!” Du Yuanzi exclaimed after examining it.
“Senior Du Yuanzi, is there a chance to fix it?” Lin Yun asked nervously.
“I couldn’t create such an array, but repairing it? There’s a chance. I’ll take it back and study it. It’ll take some time,” Du Yuanzi said.
“Thank you, Senior Du Yuanzi,” Lin Yun said politely, bowing.
“No trouble at all. Studying its array will benefit me too,” Du Yuanzi smiled.
He added, “Oh, Lin Yun, the teleportation array will be ready tomorrow.”
“Really? That’s great!” Lin Yun’s eyes brightened.
“I’ll head back to work on it, aiming to have it ready for you tomorrow,” Du Yuanzi said, leaving with the metal bear.
“My Lord! My Lord!”
Just as Du Yuanzi left, the butler rushed in frantically.
“What is it?” Lin Yun looked at him.
“My Lord, a young man claiming to be Little Green Dragon is at the gate to see you,” the butler said, breathless.
“What? Little Green Dragon!”
Lin Yun was startled, then beamed with joy. “Haha, Little Green Dragon’s here? Bring him in!”
“No, I’ll go meet him myself!”
Lin Yun hurried to the gate.
Little Green Dragon’s unexpected visit thrilled him!
At the Prefecture Lord’s Palace Gate.
Little Green Dragon, in human form, waited, accompanied by the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon, also in human form.
Lin Yun strode out of the palace.
“Little Green Dragon, you rascal, showing up out of nowhere!” Lin Yun said, grinning broadly.
“With you in such trouble, how could I not come?” Little Green Dragon said, embracing Lin Yun in a bear hug.
“You punk, I know all about what happened. Surviving the soul-severing poison and waking up—that’s no small feat. You’re something else,” Little Green Dragon said, patting Lin Yun’s back.
“I’m not that easy to take down, but sadly, I’m a cripple now,” Lin Yun said with a bitter smile, shaking his head.
The thought stung his heart.
Though the Chaos Heart, the top ancient sacred artifact, might cleanse the poison, it had been missing for over a hundred thousand years. The odds of finding it were slim.
But with Little Green Dragon’s arrival, a joyful occasion, Lin Yun adjusted his mood and smiled.
“Little Green Dragon, come in, come in!”
Lin Yun pulled him into the palace.
“I should’ve come when your daughter was born, but dragon clan matters kept me tied up. This time, I can finally meet her,” Little Green Dragon said as they walked.
“Haha, no problem,” Lin Yun laughed.
Soon, they reached the courtyard.
“Ke Xin, come here,” Lin Yun called to his daughter with a smile.
“Daddy.”
Lin Ke Xin ran to Lin Yun.
“Ke Xin, this is Uncle Little Green Dragon,” Lin Yun introduced.
Little Green Dragon clicked his tongue. “Uncle? Call me Godfather! I said I’d be your kid’s godfather.”
“Haha, right, right. Ke Xin, call him Godfather. He’s Daddy’s good brother,” Lin Yun said, laughing.
“Godfather,” Ke Xin said sweetly.
“Good girl, let Godfather hold you,” Little Green Dragon said, picking her up.
Ke Xin was a bit shy around strangers.
“Ke Xin, when you grow up, Godfather will take you to the dragon clan to play, okay?” Little Green Dragon said with a smile.
“The dragon clan? In the Endless Sea? Daddy says it’s dangerous,” Ke Xin said, her face full of innocence.
“The dragon clan rules the Endless Sea. With your Godfather, it’s completely safe!” Little Green Dragon said confidently, patting his chest.
“That’s awesome!” Ke Xin beamed.
“Ke Xin, come to Mommy. Let Godfather and Daddy talk,” Yu Ying said, clapping her hands.
“Ke Xin, Godfather will play with you later. I need to talk with your dad,” Little Green Dragon said, setting her down.
“Brother Yun, you guys chat,” Yu Ying said, leading Ke Xin away, clearly wanting to shield her from serious matters.
After they left, Lin Yun gestured. “Little Green Dragon, sit.”
He poured tea.
“Lin Yun, I’m glad to see you’re not giving up,” Little Green Dragon said, picking up his cup.
He’d been upset hearing about Lin Yun’s situation, worried about how he’d cope with the fall from genius to cripple. That’s why he’d rushed over.
“You’ve known me long enough. Am I, Lin Yun, the type to be defeated by failure?” Lin Yun said with a smile.
“Haha, true enough,” Little Green Dragon laughed.
Seeing Lin Yun in good spirits eased his worries.
“But you, so exceptional, with your future destroyed, unable to use internal energy—it’s such a shame…” Little Green Dragon sighed, shaking his head.
“It’s fine. You see I’m not dwelling on it. The path of cultivation is full of perils. No cultivator’s journey is ever smooth,” Lin Yun said with a smile.
“Now you’re comforting me,” Little Green Dragon said with a wry smile.
He looked at Lin Yun. “Punk, I came to help you find a way to deal with that poison.”
