“Cure the soul-severing poison?”
Lin Yun was stunned. “Little Green Dragon, you have a way?”
Could the dragon clan have a solution? But if they did, surely his master would have mentioned it!
“Of course there’s a way. My method is to transfer the soul-severing poison from your body to mine. The process might be a bit complex, but with my cooperation, it’ll definitely work,” Little Green Dragon said.
“Transfer it to you?”
“No way! Absolutely not!”
Lin Yun rejected the idea without hesitation.
The cauldron’s spirit had explained the consequences of transferring the poison. Wouldn’t that ruin Little Green Dragon?
“Hey, punk, why’re you rejecting it so fast? Hear me out!” Little Green Dragon said, exasperated.
He continued, “The dragon clan’s physique is famously robust, much stronger than yours. If the poison is transferred to me, I can handle it and purify it.”
“Spirit, is he telling the truth?” Lin Yun asked the cauldron’s spirit telepathically.
“Half of it’s true. The dragon clan’s physique is strong, especially if he has pure dragon blood, which is even more impressive. He could purify the poison, but the soul-severing poison is no joke. Even he would need time—ten to a hundred years, depending on his physique and bloodline strength. At minimum, ten years. During that time, he’d suffer greatly, and his strength would be nearly unusable,” the spirit explained.
It added, “If you do this, the upside is both of you could live. The downside is he’d endure significant pain.”
Lin Yun now had a clear understanding.
“Hey, punk, why’re you zoning out?” Little Green Dragon looked at him.
“Little Green Dragon, you only mentioned the benefits, not the harm it’d cause you,” Lin Yun said with a bitter smile.
“What harm? I told you, my physique can handle the poison and purify it,” Little Green Dragon said, acting nonchalant.
If Lin Yun hadn’t consulted the spirit, he might’ve believed it was that simple.
“Little Green Dragon, even if you can purify the poison, it’ll take at least ten to a hundred years, and you’ll suffer immense pain and barely be able to use your strength during that time, right?” Lin Yun said, his expression serious.
Little Green Dragon froze. “You… how do you know that so clearly?”
He hadn’t expected Lin Yun to pinpoint the details so accurately.
“Don’t worry about how I know. I’m not agreeing to this,” Lin Yun said firmly.
Little Green Dragon slammed his teacup on the table with a bang.
“Punk, don’t be stubborn! Transferring the poison to me might affect me for a decade or two, but I’ll fully recover. If we don’t, it’s fatal for you, understand? Trading a few years of my time for your life is worth it!”
The dragon clan’s lifespan was long; a decade or two was nothing.
Lin Yun looked up at him. “Little Green Dragon, go play with my daughter for a bit. Let me think this over, alright?”
“Fine, think it through. You know what we’ve been through together. Don’t think you’d owe me. Without you, I might not have even returned to the dragon clan!”
With that, Little Green Dragon headed to the courtyard to find Lin Yun’s daughter.
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon stayed behind.
After Little Green Dragon left, Lin Yun said, “Senior, what do you want to discuss?”
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon had secretly messaged him, wanting to speak privately.
That’s why Lin Yun had asked for time to think, sending Little Green Dragon to his daughter. Little Green Dragon didn’t suspect anything and went to play, leaving the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon behind.
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon shielded the surrounding space.
“Lin Yun, you’re close with my young master. You don’t want to harm him, right?” he asked, looking at Lin Yun.
“Of course I don’t want to harm him!” Lin Yun said earnestly.
“I’ll be straight. The dragon clan is split into three factions, with intense internal conflicts, even recent battles. The young master is a leader in our faction and should be commanding the fight, as the situation is critical. He can’t afford to leave. But when he heard you were poisoned and near death, he ignored our advice and left the Endless Sea at this crucial time to see you!” the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon said.
“What? It’s like that?” Lin Yun’s face changed drastically.
He hadn’t imagined this.
“Why didn’t he tell me? Why keep this from me!” Lin Yun’s face paled.
“Since you’re his friend, and he’s in great trouble, you should help him. But you can’t, can you?” the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon asked.
Lin Yun was silent for a moment, then nodded.
As a cripple, unable to use internal energy, how could he help?
“I don’t expect you to help him. You’re a cripple now, to be blunt. I just hope you won’t hold him back. If you transfer the poison to him, even if he can purify it, it’ll take at least a decade, maybe decades. During that time, he’d barely be able to use his strength. How could he face the other factions in the dragon clan? It could get him killed!” the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon said sternly.
Lin Yun’s heart ached, his eyes reddening.
“Why! Why didn’t he tell me!”
His fists clenched, body trembling, nails digging into his palms.
He hadn’t realized the consequences were so severe!
“Lin Yun, I’m begging you, don’t harm my young master. It wasn’t easy for him to return to the dragon clan alive,” the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon said.
“I understand. Don’t worry, I won’t harm him,” Lin Yun said, head lowered, voice trembling.
He knew he was useless now, unable to help Little Green Dragon.
Even if he weren’t crippled, he could offer little aid.
All he could do was not drag him down…
“Good. Your word is enough,” the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon said.
“Call Little Green Dragon back,” Lin Yun said, slowly raising his head.
He didn’t blame the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. His actions were for Little Green Dragon’s sake, proving his loyalty.
“Alright.”
The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon dispelled the shield and went to fetch Little Green Dragon.
