The young men beamed at Ji Bin’s agreement.
“By the way, Brother Ji Bin, should we stage another act to boost your image in Lin Kexin’s eyes? She’s rather naive and easy to fool!” the sharp-faced man suggested.
“Yes, yes, plan another act to speed things up,” the others eagerly chimed in.
“No need. Things are progressing well enough without such tactics,” Ji Bin said, waving his hand with a smile.
Outside the mansion.
“Daring to use my daughter as your tool? You’ve got some nerve!”
Lin Yun’s eyes blazed with fury, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.
The only relief for Lin Yun was that, based on what he overheard, Ji Bin hadn’t yet harmed his daughter. If he had defiled her, Lin Yun would have killed him on the spot, royal lineage or not!
Lin Yun stormed toward the mansion.
“Who’s there!”
The guards at the gate moved to block him.
Lin Yun didn’t even move, merely casting a glance laced with divine sense, leaving the guard frozen in place.
As Lin Yun charged into the mansion, anyone who tried to stop him was stunned by a burst of his divine sense.
In moments, he reached the hall where Ji Bin and his group were gathered.
Bang!
Lin Yun kicked the door open.
“Who’s that!”
Ji Bin and his companions turned at the noise, spotting Lin Yun.
“You… you’re Lin Yun?” the sharp-faced man gasped, horrified.
When Lin Yun had transcended his tribulation outside the Divine Capital, many had witnessed it, so his face was recognisable to some.
“Lin… Lin Yun?!” Ji Bin and the others paled at the name.
Lin Yun’s sudden appearance struck them like a thunderbolt.
“My name is not for you to utter so casually!” Lin Yun roared, his eyes radiating chilling intent.
“Greetings, Lord Lin Yun!”
Ji Bin dropped to his knees, bowing deeply to Lin Yun.
“Greetings, Lord Lin Yun!”
The others quickly followed, kneeling and bowing.
Lin Yun’s gaze fixed on Ji Bin. “Ji Bin, I heard every word you said in this room. I warn you: stay away from my daughter, or you’ll regret it!”
Ji Bin’s heart raced with panic, realising his scheme had been exposed.
Yet he feigned calm. “Lord Lin Yun, my love for Lin Kexin is true, as heaven and earth can attest. You must be mistaken!”
Lin Yun’s eyes narrowed. “What, you think you can keep pretending after I’ve heard it all?”
“Lord Lin, I don’t know what you heard, but I truly love your daughter and will treat her well!” Ji Bin insisted, his tone resolute and unwavering.
If Lin Yun hadn’t overheard their earlier conversation, he might have believed Ji Bin’s convincing act.
The man was a skilled performer!
“You’re determined to play dumb to the end. Don’t you know this could bring ruin upon you?”
Lin Yun’s words fell as he drew his sword, holding it inches from Ji Bin’s neck.
Clang!
The blade’s icy aura pierced Ji Bin’s heart.
Ji Bin’s face turned ashen, but he gritted his teeth. “Lord… Lord Lin Yun, if you’re set on killing me, go ahead. But if Kexin learns you killed me, will she hate you?”
“You dare threaten me?!” Lin Yun’s killing intent surged.
But Ji Bin’s words hit a weak spot.
If Lin Yun killed him before revealing the truth to Lin Kexin, what would she think?
At that moment, a middle-aged man rushed in from outside.
Seeing Lin Yun’s sword at Ji Bin’s throat, his face drained of colour.
“Lord Lin, I’m Ji Bin’s father, Ji Weicheng. We share the same bloodline as His Majesty. Please, show mercy!” the man pleaded urgently.
“Your son has done something he shouldn’t have. Discipline him well and keep him away from my daughter, or he’s as good as dead!”
With that, Lin Yun sheathed his sword.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Ji Weicheng nodded repeatedly.
Lin Yun glared at Ji Bin, his voice icy. “Ji Bin, I’m giving you one chance. Stay away from my daughter if you want to live. If you dare approach her again, royal or not, you’re dead! Remember my words!”
With that, Lin Yun turned and left.
After Lin Yun’s departure, Ji Bin and his group exhaled in relief.
“Bin’er, what happened?!” Ji Weicheng demanded.
“Father, I’m only in love with his daughter, and he wants to kill me! I’m of royal blood and among the top of the younger royal generation. Am I not worthy of Lin Kexin?” Ji Bin said, feigning grievance.
“Outrageous! Even if Lord Lin Yun looks down on you, he shouldn’t threaten your life!” Ji Weicheng said, visibly angry.
“Please, Father, seek justice for me,” Ji Bin said, playing the victim.
“I’ll head to the palace now. With royal blood in your veins and your standing among the younger royals, I doubt His Majesty will let him kill you so easily,” Ji Weicheng said.
With that, he hurried off.
Hearing his father’s words, Ji Bin sighed in relief.
Now, only Ji Bin and his friends remained in the room.
“I never imagined Lin Yun would overhear us. That was completely unexpected!” Ji Bin said, his face pale.
He knew this not only derailed his plan but also put him in significant danger.
“Ji Bin, what now? Lin Yun’s an Eternal realm cultivator. If he truly wants you dead, it’s trouble,” the sharp-faced man said.
“Don’t worry. Lin Kexin is my shield. As long as she trusts me, I’ll be fine,” Ji Bin said, his eyes narrowing.
…
After leaving the mansion, Lin Yun headed straight to his residence.
Lin Residence, courtyard.
“Dad, you’re back!”
As Lin Yun entered the courtyard, Lin Kexin greeted him with a smile.
But Lin Yun’s face showed no joy.
“What’s wrong, Dad? Did someone upset you? Tell me, and I’ll make them pay!” Lin Kexin said earnestly.
