After leaving the palace, Lin Yun returned to the Lin residence.
At the entrance, his friends and family were already gathered.
“Lin Yun!”
“Brother Yun!”
Seeing him, they rushed forward.
The mood was heavy, steeped in gloom.
Lin Yun approached, bidding farewell to each one.
He feared this departure might be permanent.
The last to say goodbye was his daughter.
Lin Kexin’s tears streamed down her face.
“Daddy, you have to come back alive. Kexin will be waiting!” She clung tightly to his arm.
“Don’t worry, Daddy will be fine,” Lin Yun said with a reassuring smile.
Then, he gently pried her delicate hand free and turned to leave.
Lin Yun was truly proud of his daughter, Lin Kexin.
Though they had clashed before, it was because she had been deceived. Her heart was good, she was ambitious, and she would never deliberately harm others.
…
After leaving the city, Lin Yun went straight to the empire’s teleportation point, taking the array to Dongyuan Prefecture.
Upon arriving, he took to the air, heading directly for the Demon Beast Mountain Range!
On the way, he studied the manual Emperor Huoyun had given him, which taught soul reincarnation. After one read, he easily grasped it.
Of course, this was a last resort, only to be used if absolutely necessary.
Travelling at high speed, it wasn’t long before he reached the outskirts of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.
“There it is, the Demon Beast Mountain Range,” Lin Yun said, hovering in the air, gazing at the endless expanse ahead.
…
Above the Demon Beast Mountain Range.
Whoosh!
As soon as Lin Yun arrived, a figure shot up from the forest below, appearing right in front of him.
“It’s you!”
Lin Yun’s eyes narrowed upon seeing the figure.
It was none other than Di Jiang, the heavenly demon who had once poisoned him with soul-breaking venom.
Lin Yun remembered him vividly!
“Lin Yun, we meet again,” Di Jiang said with a smug grin.
“You dare show your face? Don’t you know I could kill you without breaking a sweat?” Lin Yun’s gaze sharpened.
When Di Jiang had tried to assassinate him, Lin Yun hadn’t yet reached immortality, and even with all his means, he couldn’t resist.
Now, Lin Yun was confident he could kill him with ease!
“Kill me? Haha, your son is in our demon clan’s hands. Do you dare?” Di Jiang laughed loudly.
Lin Yun’s eyes flashed with cold fury at those words.
“Where’s my son!” he demanded icily.
“I’m here to escort you. Follow me, and you’ll see him,” Di Jiang said, still smiling.
Di Jiang was elated, certain that Lin Yun was doomed this time.
“Lead the way,” Lin Yun said coldly, spitting out the words.
He knew following Di Jiang was walking into a trap, but he had no choice.
“Follow me!”
With that, Di Jiang flew ahead, and Lin Yun followed.
After flying over the Demon Beast Mountain Range for some time, they reached their destination.
The entrance to the Demon Marshal’s Mansion.
Di Jiang led Lin Yun to land there.
At the entrance, several demon beasts stood guard, eyeing Lin Yun curiously.
“Lin Yun, our Demon Marshal awaits you inside. Let’s go!” Di Jiang said.
“Demon Marshal, huh?” Lin Yun murmured.
He followed Di Jiang into the Demon Marshal’s Mansion.
Upon entering, Lin Yun noticed something unusual: all spatial rules seemed to collapse within.
Inside the main hall of the Demon Marshal’s Mansion.
Lin Yun looked up to see a figure on the throne, shrouded in black mist, its true form obscured.
Yet, he could feel a terrifying, heart-stopping aura emanating from it.
Undoubtedly, this was the demon clan’s Demon Marshal.
“Demon Marshal, Lin Yun has been brought,” Di Jiang bowed to the figure.
“Lin Yun, I finally see you in the flesh. I admire your courage, coming here alone,” the Demon Marshal said in a hoarse, chilling voice.
“Where’s my son!” Lin Yun demanded, uninterested in idle talk.
“Di Jiang, bring his son!” the Demon Marshal waved a hand.
“Yes.”
Di Jiang turned and left.
The Demon Marshal was in no rush to act against Lin Yun. With him here, the Marshal was confident Lin Yun, no matter his abilities, couldn’t escape!
Hearing that his son would be brought, Lin Yun felt a slight relief.
At least it proved his son was still alive.
Lin Yun looked up at the Demon Marshal, “Demon Marshal, do you know I’m a guest elder of the dragon clan? If you kill me, you’re killing a dragon clan elder, which is tantamount to declaring war on them!”
“Dragon clan guest elder? Hah, what a joke! A mere human, so easily becoming a dragon clan elder? Do you take me for a fool?” the Demon Marshal let out a grating laugh.
“You don’t believe me? Here’s the dragon clan token as proof,” Lin Yun said, producing the token.
“Hm?” The Demon Marshal’s expression shifted upon seeing it.
“Still not convinced? Then there’s the dragon clan bloodline in my body as proof!”
Lin Yun released the trace of dragon clan aura within him.
“Damn it, you’re actually a dragon clan guest elder!” The Demon Marshal’s demeanour changed abruptly.
If the token could be faked, the dragon clan bloodline aura was undeniably real!
“Demon Marshal, now do you believe me? So, if you’re thinking of killing me, consider the consequences. If you don’t, forming an alliance between the human race and the dragon clan might be difficult,” Lin Yun said slowly.
Then, his tone shifted, “But if you kill me, a dragon clan guest elder, that alliance might just fall into place naturally.”
Lin Yun smiled, continuing, “My death alone won’t impact the war much. There are plenty of human immortals stronger than me. But if my death can secure a human-dragon alliance, it’s well worth it, even a great gain. After all, my role pales compared to the dragon clan’s, right, Demon Marshal?”
