The Simulator Chapter 11 - LiddRead

The Simulator Chapter 11

Near midnight, the Garlic Tribe was attacked twice by the Barbarian Tribe.

A total of twenty-five barbarian warriors clad in animal skins, who were armed with stone axes, came charging all the way from the forest in the west.

The hunters of the Garlic Tribe had contracted their battle lines early this time, armed with bows and arrows. Under the command of the two heroes of the Pigfish Brothers, they stood at a distance and shot arrows at the barbarian warriors.

The charging barbarians were covered in arrows in the distant shooting baptism. They seemed to have no experience in fighting with bows and arrows, relying entirely on their animal skins and bodies to fight hard, and in the end, there were only six or seven of them who rushed to the hunters. The others fell to the ground in droves.

With the absolute numerical advantage and the bows and arrows added, the barbarian warriors were completely wiped out this time, excluding the enemies killed by the bows and arrows and those who fled, the Garlic Tribe also captured four barbarian warriors.

The Prophet interrogated them separately.

“Where is your tribe?”

“Never betray!”

“What is the devil you believe in?”

“Glory belongs to the Lord God! All of you heretics must die!”

“How many of you are there in total?”

“Never betray!”

“If you tell us honestly, we will let you go.”

“Never betray!”

……

These four people did not reveal their mouths at all.

The experienced shaman chose another way.

“Your bravery and loyalty have earned our recognition, and as a sign of our respect, I now invite you to join our tribe.”

“You have lost the battle and will only be punished by the demons and the tribe when you return.”

“Here is wheat to feed your stomachs, bows and arrows to give you more strength, delicious garlic, and dried meat and salt.”

“It will not be considered betrayal if you become a member of the Garlic Tribe, for you will believe in the great Yao God, and with the gods sheltering you, the demons will not be able to harm you.”

The four warriors were silent for a moment, exclamation marks popping up above their heads.

“Join the Garlic Tribe!”

“Join the Garlic Tribe!”

They chanted in unison.

Lu Yao lamented that the shaman was really accurate in reading people.

Then, the four barbarians explained everything.

“The tribe is on the north-west side of the mountain, next to the huge cave, with a total of 82 people. Excluding the prophets and the old and weak, there are 40 available warriors.”

“There is a statue by the cave of a god clad in the fur of a wild beast, called the god Jack.”

“The Jack God requires us to offer a living sacrifice, stripped of the skin of the beast, and all the beasts we hunt are offered to Him, so the tribe must go and loot for food.”

“The tribe was gifted by the Jack God and two beastly heroes were born. They could both change into beast form and were the most powerful warriors in the tribe. Everyone wanted to become a hero.”

“One hero disappeared when he attacked the Forest Tribe and is supposed to be dead.”

“There is still one hero left in the tribe.”

“Barbarian tribe, enemy! Demons, enemies!”

“Never betray the Garlic Tribe!”

They shouted the same slogans as before, and switching sides was silky smooth.

Four barbarians joined the tribe. They took off their animal skins from the past and put on leather waistcoats like the tribe’s uniforms, holding bows and arrows, and quickly integrated into the local area.

To Lu Yao’s surprise, that Demon Jack did not know how to run the tribe at all, or did not even think about developing step by step. He had been manipulating the barbarians to hunt and plunder everywhere as a way to gain faith.

After the Garlic Tribe deployed bows and arrows, the threat from the barbarian tribe was greatly reduced. Lu Yao’s top priority was still to further increase his faith value, and more of this kind of strategic reserve would be better.

After repelling the Barbarian Tribe’s second attack, the Garlic Tribe ushered in another period of stability.

Pixel villains from the Salt Pond Tribe kept coming over to buy garlic and bows and arrows from the Garlic Tribe, and then sold the salt, medicinal herbs, and farming tools that were lacking locally.

Later, the Salt Pond Tribe even built a wooden house here to serve as a shop for the two tribes’ long-term trading.

As exchanges and trade between the tribes became more frequent, and bow and arrow-wielding hunters continued to expand their range of movement, the Garlic Tribe attracted more foreign immigrants.

The population in the upper right corner became 247, and the faith value rose to 448 points.

Within a day, the Faith Value surged continuously, causing Lu Yao’s previously suppressed thoughts to bubble up.

The [Apostle] conversion in the temple required 500 points of faith.

Currently, it was only 52 points short.

Staying up for a while longer, relying on the two props [Energetic Cane] and [Cactus Attendant] totalling 2 points of Faith growth per hour, and a little bit of emigration, there might be a chance.

Having said that, until Lu Yao left home for work at 8:30 in the morning, the Faith Value was still stuck at 459 points.

……

This day Lu Yao was a bit distracted.

Tomorrow was the weekend day off, and all he wanted to do now was to fly home and stare at the simulator.

Although the [Energy Cane] could replenish his energy in the middle of the night, making him feel less tired. However, once the cane was detached, his body’s muscle aches and fatigue still followed him, and the physical exertion was still real.

The cane was more like a strong stimulant that could maintain an individual’s energy for a short period of time, but it didn’t change the limits of the human body, and sleep was still indispensable.

Apart from figuring out the cane mechanism, Lu Yao also pondered over the Old God Apostle in the temple.

Was she worth such a large investment in herself or not?

At least she was the Forest God’s right-hand man, Little Fire a handyman guarding the temple was useful, the Apostle thought that she wouldn’t pull too much crotch.

The most crucial thing was that Lu Yao hadn’t found any other way to create apostles. Currently, it seemed that the only way was to naturalise the Old God’s Apostles.

No matter what, Apostles were still a high-level soldier above Heroes and Prophets, right?

With both anticipation and apprehension in his heart, he fidgeted in his chair.

It was hard to get through to the end of the day, when his boss suddenly assigned him a temporary task, asking him to go to the home of an old boss twenty kilometres away from the company, to deliver the concert tickets of a certain singer.

When Lu Yao returned home after his work, it was already eight o’clock in the evening.

He took off his backpack, not minding the sweat on his head, and immediately went to the computer.

The Faith in the upper right corner of the screen had turned into 489 points, basically relying on magic props to increase his Faith, the population growth had become very slow.

So Lu Yao first went to take a shower to wash off the stinky sweat.

Then he walked over to the window, blowing the night breeze and looking at the streetlights in the alley.

No one was hanging there today.

That was par for the course. If a person was hung there every other day, that demon player would be provoking the entire police system.

Lu Yao returned to his computer.

Faith was displayed as 501.

He opened the Temple interface and clicked on the [Apostle] of the sarcophagus icon.

–Converting its revival into an apostle of your pantheon requires consuming a large amount of Faith. May I ask if you need to consume 500 points of Faith to convert the apostle?

[Yes] [No].

Lu Yao placed his mouse on [Yes] without rushing to click down.

He asked the Immortal Orb beside him, “Little Flame, does reviving an Apostle consume so much Faith Value?”

“Apostles are the most important arm of every god, it’s totally worth it, but ……”

“But what?”

“This Apostle of the Forest God in the sarcophagus is unknown to your humble servant, and I don’t know what kind of abilities she has.”

“You know all the Apostles of the Forest God?”

“Erm …… I remember the chief apostle, Mr Forrest, who is very powerful and able to summon the Forest Spirit. I haven’t seen the other ones, they are all walking the world for the Forest God.”

Lu Yao looked at the Immortal Orb with an unkind face.

Dare you to know just one.

As if Little Fire also felt the pressure, he said somewhat nervously, “Lord God, I just, just saying, I really don’t know this one apostle, different apostles have different abilities, some are good at fighting, some are good at probing ……”

“But an apostle is definitely worth it, and you need a walking apostle as well.”

Lu Yao returned his gaze to the computer screen.

Dry!

He clicked down [Yes].

The Faith value instantly emptied to just 1 point.

A reminder popped up in the pixel world.

–The Sleeping Apostle has heard your call, your power of faith has repaired her tattered shell and parched soul, and she is rapidly reviving from the sea of Miasma.

–[Apostle] Isabelle, Sword of the Forest, follows your will, carries out your oracles, and fights for the fire of your faith.
