Recently, Gu Qiuyi had been busy holding her global farewell concert tour around the world and hadn’t returned to the country yet.
The reason she was working so hard was that after this global farewell concert, she would retire from the entertainment industry for good. This was her final tour.
Ye Chen answered the phone and asked cheerfully, “Nannan, it’s been a while since you last called me.”
On the phone, Gu Qiuyi’s voice was filled with excitement as she said, “Brother Ye Chen, I’ve just boarded the plane and am heading back to Yanjing!”
Ye Chen asked in surprise, “Where are you now?”
“In Lisbon!” Gu Qiuyi replied. “I only have one last concert left in my farewell tour, and after that, I’ll be done with the entertainment industry for good!”
Ye Chen asked, “Where are you planning to hold your final concert?”
“Yanjing!”
Gu Qiuyi said, “I thought about it. The first stop of my tour was in Jinling, and the last one will be in Yanjing. One is the city where you live now, and the other is the city where we grew up together. It feels more meaningful this way!”
Ye Chen smiled and said, “Nannan, you’ve put a lot of thought into this. When is the Yanjing concert?”
Gu Qiuyi excitedly replied, “It’s on February 2nd, your birthday!”
Ye Chen chuckled, “It’s only just the start of the lunar month now, so there’s still about two months to go.”
“Exactly!” Gu Qiuyi said with a smile. “After I return, I plan to take a break from work and spend some time with my parents. Brother Ye Chen, when will you have time to come to Yanjing? My parents have been mentioning you too, saying they miss you.”
Ye Chen smiled and said, “I’m actually on a plane too, about to take off, and I’m also heading to Yanjing. But I’m closer, so I’ll arrive in about an hour.”
“What?!” Gu Qiuyi exclaimed. “Brother Ye Chen, you’re going to Yanjing now?! What for? How long will you stay?”
Ye Chen replied, “I’ll probably be there for about a week. Do you know Tawana Swiet?”
“Of course!” Gu Qiuyi said with a smile. “She’s one of the top global female singers and a songwriter too. I really like her. I even tried to get tickets for her concert, but I didn’t win the lottery. Brother Ye Chen, are you going with your wife to see her concert?”
Ye Chen laughed and said, “No, I actually have a role as the feng shui consultant for Tawana Swiet’s China tour. I’m traveling with her team to help with the preparations, though there’s not much work to do.”
Gu Qiuyi exclaimed happily, “That’s great! Brother Ye Chen, will you come home then?”
“Of course,” Ye Chen agreed without hesitation. “When you land, I’ll pick you up at the airport, and we can go see Uncle Gu and Auntie together.”
“Great!” Gu Qiuyi said. “I’ll arrive in Yanjing early tomorrow morning. I chose this time to avoid the paparazzi. If it’s convenient for you, Brother Ye Chen, come pick me up at the airport.”
“Sure!” Ye Chen said. “I’ll go see Grandpa at the Ye family tonight and stay there. Let me know when you’re about to arrive, and I’ll come get you.”
“Perfect, see you tomorrow morning!”
After hanging up the phone, Ye Chen noticed the plane was already on the runway, preparing to take off.
Tawana, sitting nearby, looked at him curiously and asked, “Mr. Ye, if I may ask, who were you talking to just now? I heard something about a concert in Yanjing?”
Ye Chen smiled and said, “It’s my younger sister. She’s also a singer, though she might not be as famous as you.”
