The mother and daughter, who had been awake all night, were taking a walk in the courtyard.
Although it was cold outside, neither of them seemed to feel the chill.
They didn’t talk about grudges or grievances; instead, they chatted about everyday matters.
At that moment, they were just an ordinary mother and daughter.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Feng Yue said to her daughter, “A-Qing, let’s sit for a while. Mom is getting old, and after walking for so long, I can’t go on anymore.”
With that, she sat down on a long stone bench first.
Feng Qing followed and sat down as well.
“The sky is about to light up.”
Feng Yue looked up at the sky, “In winter, the nights are long and the days are short. In summer, it would already be bright at this hour.”
She tugged at her coat.
Then she asked her daughter, “A-Qing, are you cold?”
Feng Qing replied, “Yes, it’s quite cold outside.”
Feng Yue reached out to adjust her daughter’s collar, saying, “You’re wearing too little. You should put on a thicker coat. Usually, you’re in places with heating, so you don’t feel the cold. But without heating, it can make you shiver.”
“A-Qing, your skin is quite fair. Young people have fair and tender skin. Being young is really wonderful.”
Feng Qing felt her mother’s hand touch her neck and sensed something was wrong. She tried to stand up, but it was too late. A sharp pain shot through the back of her neck, and her vision went black. Her body went limp, and she lost consciousness.
Feng Yue caught her daughter, whom she had knocked out.
She took out her phone and called Mr. Du.
She instructed Mr. Du to come and take Feng Qing away.
Soon, Mr. Du arrived.
Feng Yue handed her daughter over to Mr. Du and said, “After you take her out, hand her over to her bodyguards. Have them take her away from Jiangcheng. Arrange for someone to protect her, in case the bodyguards have ill intentions and harm her while she’s unconscious.”
“Once she’s out of Jiangcheng, notify Fang Yao and have him go find her. Once Fang Yao is by her side, our people can withdraw. With Fang Yao there, she’ll be safe.”
“But, notify Fang Yao closer to evening. Don’t tell him right away, or he might bring her back to Jiangcheng.”
“She’ll wake up soon. When she does, have someone force her to take two sleeping pills, so she sleeps for two days. Otherwise, she’ll find a way to come back as soon as she wakes up.”
Feng Yue quietly instructed Mr. Du on how to send her daughter away.
“Have A-Qing’s double come over. Starting tomorrow morning, have her stay by my side and accompany me in entertaining my dear niece in the evening.”
Feng Yue’s eyes were unusually cold, “They insist on pursuing the truth, on fighting for the power and influence of the Feng family, and not letting me live in peace. If that’s the case, then none of us will live in peace.”
“Master, I will arrange for someone to take the young lady away.”
“The young lady’s double has already been arranged. The double’s figure, voice, and even her face are very similar to the young lady’s. With a bit of makeup, even the young lady herself would think she’s looking at her twin sister.”
Feng Yue nodded in satisfaction, “Go ahead. I trust you to handle this.”
Mr. Du left with the unconscious Feng Qing.
Soon after, Feng Qing’s double was brought into the Feng family mansion by Mr. Du, temporarily replacing Feng Qing and playing her role within the mansion.
With Feng Qing’s double present, when Madam Shang and the others arrived in the evening and saw Feng Qing there, they wouldn’t become suspicious.
If Feng Qing were absent, Madam Shang and the others would be on guard as soon as they arrived.
In truth, the master’s arrangement was meant to save Feng Qing’s life.
Feng Qing was too stubborn. No matter how her mother tried to persuade or coax her, she wouldn’t listen.
She believed her mother was wrong.
She believed that the consequences of being wrong should be borne.
She believed that everything in the Feng family belonged to Feng Ying and the others, and should be returned to them.
She never considered her mother’s perspective.
It was fortunate that she was the master’s biological daughter; otherwise, she would have died long ago.
With her daughter sent away, Feng Yue no longer had any worries.
If she could see the light of the next day, she would send someone to bring her daughter back.
If she couldn’t, at least her daughter’s life would be spared.
Of her four children, only her daughter was unmarried and without children.
