“Wipe out our Forbidden City?”
Upon hearing this, Long Qi froze for a moment before bursting into laughter, as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world.
A moment later, his laughter abruptly stopped.
“Such bold words! I’ve lived this long, and this is the first time I’ve heard something so arrogant.”
“War God, it’s not that I look down on you. Even if you weren’t a cripple, you couldn’t destroy our Forbidden City.”
“If the Forbidden City could be so easily eradicated, how could it have stood for over a century?”
“War God, for you to say something so naive, I think you’ve truly gone senile.”
The guests also found the War God’s statement outrageously bold.
“The Forbidden City is so powerful that even past leaders couldn’t do anything about them. How could the War God possibly wipe them out?”
“Though the War God is a towering pillar in the military, at the end of the day, he’s just an ordinary man.”
“Exactly. The War God’s words are a bit too wild. Even past leaders didn’t dare offend the Forbidden City to death.”
“Don’t forget, aside from the Seventh and Eighth Lords, there are still six super experts from the Forbidden City who haven’t shown up.”
“Even if the War God called out every member of Hades Hall, he wouldn’t be a match for the Seventh Lord.”
Old Master Pei cast a deep glance at the War God.
He knew the War God well. The War God never fought unprepared battles. If he dared say such a thing, he must have something up his sleeve.
Sure enough.
The War God chuckled and said, “Long Qi, you seem to have forgotten my身份.”
“Aren’t you just the commander of Hades Hall?” Long Qi scoffed. “In the eyes of ordinary people, you’re some lofty military bigshot, but to me, you’re nothing more than a commoner.”
“To be blunt, I could crush you easier than squashing an ant.”
“Believe it or not, if I killed you right here, even the Supreme Leader, Elder Tang, couldn’t touch me.”
The War God showed no trace of fear on his face and smiled, “True, I’m a cripple. Killing me would be a piece of cake for you.”
“But as you said, I’m the commander of Hades Hall.”
“As a commander coming here to stop you from killing, how could I not have made some arrangements?”
Long Qi’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”
The War God declared loudly, “Before I came, I ordered nuclear missiles to be aimed at the Forbidden City. If you dare kill a single person, the Forbidden City will be razed to the ground in an instant.”
Long Qi’s heart jolted. He hadn’t expected the War God to be so ruthless, though he didn’t let it show on his face.
“War God, my brothers are all super experts. Your people might not even get the chance to launch those missiles before they’re dead.”
“Besides, the capital is the Emperor’s domain, and the Forbidden City sits right at its heart. If you launch nuclear missiles at it, you’ll inevitably harm the surrounding civilians and ancient relics. Can you bear that consequence?”
“Aren’t you afraid of becoming a sinner?”
Long Qi barked sharply.
The War God smiled faintly and said in a clear voice, “No matter how skilled you are, you’re still flesh and blood. I don’t believe you can withstand a nuclear strike.”
“Besides, I have no children, no family, nothing to tie me down. What’s it to me if I become a sinner?”
“For years, your Forbidden City has been arrogant, domineering, and lawless. If I can wipe you out single-handedly, it’d be a service to the people.”
“Long Qi, if you insist on killing, then let’s all go down together.”
A ruthless glint appeared on the War God’s face as he continued, “Not only have I ordered missiles aimed at the Forbidden City, but this place is also locked on by nukes. If you don’t believe me, look up.”
Long Qi snapped his head upward.
The guests all turned their eyes to the sky.
Soon, a deafening roar echoed through the air, and a fleet of military jets appeared in their line of sight.
One, two, three, four…
Sixteen jets in total.
The aircraft streaked across the sky, their presence majestic.
Flying at a deliberately slow speed and low altitude, it was clear that each jet carried warheads.
Long Qi’s face changed completely.
The guests erupted into panic, some of the more timid ones already sobbing quietly.
If Long Qi insisted on killing Ye Qiu and Ye Wudi, everyone present would die.
They’d come to attend a wedding, only to find their lives now hanging by a thread.
Even Old Master Pei, who’d been calmly observing, couldn’t stay composed any longer. He spoke up, “War God, isn’t this going too far? You may be the supreme commander of Hades Hall, but deploying nuclear missiles without authorisation—isn’t that misuse of public power?”
The War God chuckled, “How do you know it’s misuse of public power?”
Old Master Pei’s heart skipped a beat.
If it wasn’t misuse, didn’t that mean this was Elder Tang’s order?
Old Master Pei shut his mouth immediately.
The War God addressed the guests, “This situation wasn’t my intention. If you don’t want to die, convince Long Qi to stand down.”
“If he insists on going through with it and won’t relent, don’t blame me—blame Long Qi.”
“That’s all I have to say.”
At once, the guests began pleading:
“Seventh Lord, we don’t want to die! Please show mercy!”
“A fight to the death benefits no one, Seventh Lord. Take a step back!”
“Seventh Lord, our lives are in your hands now. Please stop!”
Long Qi’s expression remained cold.
Truth be told, he didn’t care about these guests’ lives. What he cared about was the Forbidden City.
His brothers were all in seclusion. If nuclear missiles struck, it would be a catastrophic disaster for the Forbidden City.
What should he do?
Long Qi wavered.
Long Ba whispered beside him, “Seventh Brother, that bastard War God is clearly set on opposing us to the end. If we insist on killing Ye Qiu and Ye Wudi, he’ll go all out against us.”
“The War God has no family, nothing to lose. Push him too far, and he’s capable of anything.”
“How about we let them off for today?”
“We only need a year—less than that, even—and our brothers will emerge from seclusion. Then we can settle the score with them, including that bastard War God.”
“By then, Big Brother’s cultivation will have taken a critical step forward, and no one will stand in our way.”
“If Elder Tang dares interfere, we’ll take him down too.”

Long Qi said, “I know all this, but if we don’t kill them today, we’ll have to wait until Big Brother comes out of seclusion to deal with them. That’s six months at least, a year at most. Thinking of them living that long makes me sick.”
“Seventh Brother, a small sacrifice now prevents a greater ruin later.”
Long Qi seemed to consider something, then bellowed, “War God, take them and get out!”
