Stephanie’s soft, sweet lips pressed against his, as if casting a spell that rooted him in place, unable to move.

Amid the turmoil, he felt a pang of disappointment in himself. Only now did he realise his resolve wasn’t as ironclad as he’d believed.

As the dizzying pull grew stronger, he gently pulled away from her kiss and murmured, “Nannan, if someone saw this, your reputation would be ruined.”
Stephanie looked at him stubbornly and shot back, “Do I care?”
Charlie wade said helplessly, “You should care, you’ve got to!”
“No, I don’t care one bit!” Her reply was resolute. She stood on her toes again, and to keep him from backing away, she wrapped her arms around his waist, kissing him once more.
As she kissed him, her words came muffled, “Brother Charlie wade, I can accept Tawana kissing you because I know she has feelings for you. But don’t forget, I’ve had feelings for you too, for over twenty years…”
She paused, then mustered her courage, her eyes red and voice soft, “Brother Charlie wade, I know that three-year promise you made to my parents was just a stalling tactic. I understand your situation and your struggles. I don’t need you to marry me, even if we never marry, I’d be fine with that. But I really want to have a son with you. You’re in Eastcliff for a few days, so please, just say yes, alright?”
Charlie wade shook his head quickly, “Nannan, this isn’t something to joke about! I said I needed time before, so why bring this up now?”
Stephanie pouted, aggrieved, “I saw Tawana kiss you, didn’t I? If she’s got the guts to do that, then I should have even more. How long has she liked you? How long have I? If she’s brave enough to kiss you, I’m brave enough to give myself to you!”
Wiping away a tear carefully, she said earnestly, “If you just nod, I’ll go with you tonight, or you can come home with me!”
Charlie wade could only try to soothe her, “Nannan, now’s really not the time to talk about this. Don’t forget, I’m married. If something happened between us and you had my child, what would that make me? An affair, a secret kid? Forget whether you could hold your head up, I couldn’t.”
Tears rolled down Stephanie’s cheeks as she choked, “I just want to give myself to you. I’m grown, and I’ve stayed pure for you all this time. Do you know how messy the entertainment world is? They don’t care about stuff like this. Look at Tawana, her dating history’s thicker than an encyclopedia, but you can tell she enjoyed every moment. Every woman wants to be cherished, to feel all that love can bring. I want that too!”
