Martial Champion Chapter 3458

“Damn it, this thing’s that strong?”

Chu Feng’s heart sank. He’d been prepared, but he hadn’t expected a random evil spirit to be this overwhelming.

He was, after all, a Saint-cloak World Spiritist, with combat power rivaling a First Rank Venerable.

“Looks like I’ve got to go all out.”

“Egg Egg, hope you don’t blame me.”

One hand stayed open, pouring Spirit Power into a formation to hold off the spirit’s assault, while his other reached for his Cosmos Sack.

In this situation, Chu Feng had no choice but to turn to the Evil God Sword.

He wasn’t sure if the sword’s power could handle an evil spirit of this level.

Back when he’d used it, the sword’s might had seemed unmatched, but his opponents then were weak.

Now, times had changed. As Chu Feng’s strength grew, so did his enemies’—by leaps and bounds.

What the Evil God Sword was truly capable of, Chu Feng didn’t know. He only knew it was eerie, dangerous, and not to be touched lightly.

But backed into a corner, he had to try it.

“What’s this?”

Suddenly, Chu Feng’s expression shifted. He felt the Qilin Egg in his Cosmos Sack stir.

It was restless, and though he couldn’t be sure, Chu Feng sensed the egg seemed *drawn* to the evil spirit.

Whoosh—

Abruptly, the Qilin Egg unleashed a massive suction force.

The force swept out, instantly enveloping the giant claw.

Aowoo—

A scream echoed from the passage’s depths. The claw trembled, trying to retract.

Too late—far too late.

Chu Feng watched as the massive claw twisted before his eyes, soon unrecognizable, turning into a surge of gas that followed the suction into his Cosmos Sack.

More precisely, into the Qilin Egg within.

“What happened? Why’d the claw just vanish?” Wuma Shengjie stared at the spot, shocked, her unease growing. The event felt too bizarre.

Looking at her, Chu Feng was surprised. “Girl, you really didn’t sense it?”

“Was it you? Did you destroy the claw?” Wuma Shengjie stared at him, incredulous.

“No, not me,” Chu Feng shook his head.

He now realized only he could feel the egg’s suction force—no one else, or Wuma Shengjie wouldn’t be this clueless.

“But we might have a treasure to deal with these spirits,” Chu Feng said.

“What treasure?” Wuma Shengjie asked.

“No need to hide it from you.” Chu Feng took out the Qilin Egg.

He explained how it had refined the evil spirit.

Chu Feng shared this because he trusted her—after all, Wuma Shengjie had ended up here saving him.

“You’re sure this so-called Qilin Egg refined that spirit?” Wuma Shengjie was skeptical, not because she doubted Chu Feng, but because the egg didn’t *look* like a Qilin Egg to her.

“Honestly, I’m not sure what this egg’s capable of, so stay here. I’ll test the waters.”

With that, Chu Feng shot downward alone, intending for Wuma Shengjie to wait.

If it was safe below, he’d call her.

But almost as he moved, Wuma Shengjie followed.

“Guess nothing I say matters,” Chu Feng realized. She wouldn’t stay put, even knowing the danger—she’d explore with him.

“Since you know talking’s useless, quit it and get me out of here,” Wuma Shengjie said.

“I’ll try,” Chu Feng smiled, then sped deeper.

Wooa—

Soon, another evil spirit attacked.

It resembled a snake, but wasn’t. Its gaping maw lunged, its body’s length unseen, but the mouth spanned a thousand meters. Each tooth was a hundred meters long, and the maw was packed with hundreds of them.

The sight was revolting and terrifying, especially with its chilling screeches, turning even Wuma Shengjie pale.

**Aowoo—**

Yet as it neared, it twisted, turning into a surge of gas that passed them and quickly dissipated.

That was all Wuma Shengjie saw.

“Could it really be that egg?” She looked at Chu Feng, shocked.

She couldn’t sense the egg’s suction, but she knew this wasn’t a coincidence.

“Probably it,” Chu Feng said, though unsure how long the egg could keep this up. Still, he sped deeper.

More spirits appeared, each stronger than the last, but none escaped the egg’s refining.

As they were consumed, the egg changed—cracks on its shell widened.

“Is it absorbing external power to hatch faster?”

“Are divine beasts *this* terrifying?”

Though the egg was solving their crisis, its prowess made Chu Feng wary. It was no simple thing.

Such a powerful entity by his side—fortune or disaster, he couldn’t tell.

If it obeyed him, he’d hit the jackpot. If not? Who knew what it’d do to him.

Worst of all, Chu Feng’s current methods couldn’t control it. This was a gamble, its outcome up to fate.

“The spirits are gone. Did they sense your egg’s power and flee?” Wuma Shengjie asked.

“No idea, but… the answer’s coming,” Chu Feng said, his gaze turning grave despite the spirits’ absence.

Wuma Shengjie, just easing up from the spirits’ disappearance, tensed again.

Chu Feng could stay calm facing known spirits, but now, with them gone, his seriousness signaled something worse awaited.

“Wuhahaha!”

A piercing laugh echoed from the depths, deep, loud, and oppressive.

As it rang out, a gale surged upward, pinning Chu Feng and Wuma Shengjie against the invisible barrier behind them, unable to move.

Even Chu Feng felt fear.

With the Qilin Egg, he’d been unstoppable, slaying spirits effortlessly, turning them into the egg’s meal.

But now, a mere laugh from below unleashed such force.

Worse, the Qilin Egg showed no reaction.

Chu Feng realized whatever lurked below was far tougher.

Yet, thankfully, though strong, it didn’t attack immediately like other spirits, suggesting it had intellect and awareness.

Bracing against the gale, Chu Feng spoke respectfully, “Senior, why do you laugh?”

When he spoke, the gale stopped. But both he and Wuma Shengjie’s hearts sank.

In the dark depths, a pair of blood-red eyes appeared, vast as twin blood moons below.

Indeed, this entity was far more terrifying than any spirit they’d faced.

“Why laugh? That was a bitter laugh.”

“I’ve waited so long for someone to reach this place.”

“Yet, to think, I get two useless ones.”

The voice from below rang again, now laced with mockery and anger.
