Hearing Longbrow True Person proclaim an auspicious omen, Ye Qiu’s heart sank, instantly shrouded in a cloud of gloom.
“It seems this trip to the southwest won’t be peaceful!”
Ye Qiu thought to himself.
“Little rascal, what are you thinking about? I said it’s an auspicious omen, why aren’t you the least bit happy?” Longbrow True Person asked, puzzled.
Ye Qiu said, “I reckon we’ll encounter danger this time.”
“Isn’t that quite normal?” Longbrow True Person replied, “A peerless tomb is bound to be fraught with perils.”
“By the way, whose tomb is it?”
“Tell me quickly.”
Xiao Zhan, standing nearby, had a peculiar expression.
A peerless tomb? Never heard of it!
Ye Qiu said, “I don’t know whose tomb it is either, which is why I called you. You’re well-versed in unorthodox methods, perhaps you’ll spot something when the time comes.”
Longbrow True Person looked sceptical, “Little rascal, you’re not telling me the truth. You must know something.”
Ye Qiu said, “I only know that thirty Dragon Gate disciples died.”
Longbrow True Person remarked, “In that case, this must be a peerless ominous tomb.”
“There must be plenty of good stuff inside.”
“Little rascal, you’re really good to me.”
Ye Qiu smiled, “Who else but a good friend would think of you first when something good comes up?”
Longbrow True Person was delighted, “Not in vain have I risked my life for you several times, that’s loyalty.”
*Hope you still feel that way when we reach the destination.*
Ye Qiu muttered to himself, then ordered, “Xiao Zhan, tell them to set sail!”
“Yes!”
After Xiao Zhan gave the command, the speedboat quickly left Wushan Pier, heading upstream along the Yangtze River.
Two hours later.
The speedboat entered the Jialing River.
“Little rascal, we’re in the Jialing River now, when will we reach the destination?” Longbrow True Person asked.
Ye Qiu glanced at Xiao Zhan.
Xiao Zhan understood and replied, “Senior, don’t be impatient, we’ll arrive in half an hour.”
Longbrow True Person rubbed his hands, brimming with excitement, and said, “Little rascal, how do we split the treasures in the peerless tomb?”
Ye Qiu said, “Why the rush? We’ll talk after we unearth the tomb.”
Longbrow True Person shook his head, “No, we need to settle this now, even brothers must keep clear accounts.”
Ye Qiu said, “It’s too early to discuss this, I’m worried this tomb won’t be easy to dig up.”
“With the two of us together, what tomb can’t we crack?” Longbrow True Person said, “Fifty-fifty, how’s that?”
“Fine.” Ye Qiu agreed readily.
Longbrow True Person looked at Ye Qiu in surprise, “In the past, with such opportunities, you’d take the lion’s share. Why are you so generous today, like a different person?”
Ye Qiu raised an eyebrow, “What, fifty-fifty isn’t good enough? If not, we can do eighty-twenty, I take eighty, you take twenty.”
“No way, fifty-fifty is great!” Longbrow True Person chuckled, “Little rascal, tell me, why are you suddenly so good to me?”
Ye Qiu said, “If it weren’t for you risking your life for me in the Forbidden City on New Year’s Eve, I wouldn’t be this good to you.”
“So that’s it, then I’m relieved. I thought you were up to some mischief.” Longbrow True Person laughed heartily, “Once we dig up this tomb, I’ll rebuild Dragon Tiger Mountain.”
Time slipped by quietly.
In the blink of an eye, half an hour passed.
The speedboat entered a canyon.
The canyon’s banks were lined with peaks like screens, layered mountains stacked high, enveloped in mist.
The emerald river twisted and turned, as if entering a splendid gallery, full of poetic charm.
The speedboat slowed, navigating through the canyon, sometimes facing towering mountains, then suddenly winding around peaks, the scenery serene and exquisite.
Longbrow True Person, admiring the view outside the window, said, “The dragon veins stretch endlessly, surrounded by water, this is prime feng shui land.”
“Little rascal, there must be a peerless tomb here, and it might even be an imperial mausoleum.”
“We’re going to strike it rich this time.”
Seeing Longbrow True Person’s excitement, Ye Qiu thought, *Hope you’re still this excited when we get there.*
“Kid, how much longer?” Longbrow True Person asked Xiao Zhan.
Xiao Zhan checked the map on his phone and replied, “Almost there.”
“Strange, with such pleasant scenery, why no tourist boats?” Longbrow True Person found it odd.
Ye Qiu said, “Here’s the thing, after hearing about the tomb, I had the Jialing River sealed off.”
“Until we leave, no boats other than Dragon Gate’s will appear on the river.”
“This makes things easier for us.”
Longbrow True Person nodded with a smile, “You’re always so thorough.”
The speedboat continued forward, and after a while, the mountains on both sides grew taller, completely blocking the sunlight.
The canyon grew dim.
Not only that, the temperature dropped, a chill emerging.
“Little rascal, let’s go to the deck and enjoy the view,” Longbrow True Person said, leading the way out of the cabin to the deck.
Ye Qiu got up leisurely.
Xiao Zhan whispered, “Boss, when we reach the destination and the True Person discovers the truth, what if he gets furious?”
Ye Qiu smiled, “Once we’re there, tell our people not to leave without your orders.”
Xiao Zhan understood, by then, even if Longbrow True Person was angry, he’d be powerless.
When Ye Qiu reached the deck, Longbrow True Person was reciting poetry.
“Spring comes, I sip some wine, I ride a little boat, green mountains on both banks greet me, the jade waves like a beauty’s curve.”
“Hahaha, good poem, good poem.”
“On the seventh of March, I composed this quatrain on the Jialing River.”
Ye Qiu’s mouth twitched.
*Have some shame, will you?*
This isn’t a quatrain, it’s doggerel!
“Little rascal, my poem’s pretty good, right? Do me a favour, get some Dragon Gate disciples to carve it on the cliff by the river.”
“Make sure the words are big, so future tourists passing by will know this quatrain was mine.”
“Of course, I won’t take all the fame, you can add a line saying it was carved by Ye Qiu, master of Dragon Gate.”
“How’s that?”
*Good, my foot.*
You old fool can be shameless, but don’t drag me into it.
Longbrow True Person’s doggerel was so bad, if Ye Qiu did as he suggested, he’d be mocked by the world.
Gradually.
A cool breeze rose.
Ye Qiu and Longbrow True Person stood on the deck, their clothes fluttering in the wind.
Suddenly, Ye Qiu sensed something and sharply looked up at the sky.
He silently activated his Heavenly Eye.
Instantly, clusters of black mist appeared in his vision.
Not only that, thick black mist also emerged in the canyon ahead.
The black mist churned and roiled, like imprisoned demons struggling desperately.
Ye Qiu’s heart jolted.
“This is, resentment!”
