“What’s with calling me Lieutenant? With our relationship, just use my name!”
“I heard there are plenty of hot demon girls in the Spirit Beast Academy. How come you haven’t bought one for me, kid?”
“You boring guy, you might not need one, but I do…”
“If I don’t die this time, when we get back to the mountain, you’d better prepare some good feasts for me!”
“Lai Bao, kid, you’re on your own now. Your big brother’s really in deep trouble this time!”
“Damn it, I might end up leaving before you, kid!”
“Lai Bao, you bastard, if I make it back this time, we’re swearing brotherhood, no matter what!”
“Lai Bao, you saved Deer Greedy’s life this time. Next time, Deer Greedy will save yours, so don’t argue with me then…”
Under the moonlight, Deer Greedy’s face looked deathly pale. His expression was ashen, yet his eyes glared fiercely, as if staring at Mo Fan, questioning why he hadn’t fled.
“Deer Greedy!!”
Mo Fan clenched his teeth, his heart filled with grief and rage. He never imagined he’d witness such a tragic scene.
Instinctively, he moved to rush forward, but Bai Yao Yao grabbed his shoulder.
“What are you doing?!”
Mo Fan, furious, turned to glare at Bai Yao Yao.
“Calm down!”
“That deer demon is already dead!”
Bai Yao Yao frowned, speaking to Mo Fan through a mental transmission. “I can sense an even more terrifying presence approaching. We must hide ourselves, or we’ll be in grave danger!”
Hearing this, Mo Fan calmed slightly, but his gaze toward Poison Fang in the distance still burned with anger. He transmitted, “Can you help me kill that guy?!”
“No. I have some trump cards, but I won’t use them unless absolutely necessary. They’re for survival, not for killing!”
Bai Yao Yao frowned, rejecting Mo Fan’s request outright.
“I understand!”
Mo Fan nodded, a trace of coldness in his eyes. Looking at the corpse in Poison Fang’s hands, his anger gradually subsided.
“Well done. You’ve brought me another demon lieutenant’s corpse so quickly!”
At that moment, another figure shot through the air, appearing in Mo Fan’s line of sight.
Mo Fan focused and saw it was Qin Changsheng!
At this moment, Qin Changsheng was standing on a bamboo scroll about ten feet long, floating through the air. He landed on the cliff, just a few yards from Poison Fang.
“Master!”
Poison Fang looked at the approaching Qin Changsheng, bowing respectfully and presenting Deer Greedy’s corpse.
“Very good. With these demon lieutenant corpses, my contributions have secured me a spot in the top three of the Prodigy List. The sect’s monthly resource allocations are now over ten times what they were, greatly boosting my cultivation!”
“So rest assured, as long as you serve me well, you’ll reap plenty of rewards!”
Qin Changsheng grinned, casually storing Deer Greedy’s corpse in his storage bag. Then, as if by chance, he glanced toward the dense forest where Mo Fan and Bai Yao Yao were hiding and said calmly, “But before that, you need to deal with those two tails following you!”
Tails?
Poison Fang froze, then his gaze turned bloodthirsty, sneering, “Poison Fang obeys!”
“Not good!”
Bai Yao Yao’s pupils shrank, realising they’d been exposed.
“Go!”
Without another word, she grabbed Mo Fan and fled into the dense forest behind them.
“Rustle, rustle…”
The faint sound of crushed leaves reached Mo Fan’s ears, pulling him from his grief.
He instinctively looked back and saw two red giant pythons rapidly approaching, their gaping maws flickering with scarlet tongues, utterly terrifying.
“You two, since you’re here, why not stay?”
A cold laugh echoed through the forest, and Mo Fan saw a figure soaring through the air, swiftly blocking their path.
“Poison Fang!”
Mo Fan gritted his teeth, itching to kill the demon right then and there.
But he didn’t act rashly. He knew how terrifying Poison Fang’s strength was, not to mention the even more formidable human cultivator behind him. If they fought to the death, only he and Bai Yao Yao would end up dead.
“Get lost!”
Bai Yao Yao didn’t waste words. Her red lips parted, and a jet of water blasted out!
“Child’s play!”
Poison Fang snorted, standing his ground without dodging. A faint red light shield formed around him, unmoved by the water jets crashing against it.
But when the water jets dissipated, Poison Fang frowned.
The two had vanished from his sight!
“Hmph! Clever little pests, but you know nothing of a demon general’s power!”
Poison Fang sneered, his nose twitching slightly. His body shot into the air, chasing after the direction Mo Fan and Bai Yao Yao had fled.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before their figures reappeared in his sight.
At the same time, Mo Fan and Bai Yao Yao sensed Poison Fang’s approach and turned to look at him.
“It’s you, you ugly thing!”
“Perfect. I was coming for you, but you’ve delivered yourself to me!”
“Talk about effortless!”
Recognising Mo Fan’s face, Poison Fang burst into laughter. His gaze then shifted to Bai Yao Yao, a flash of admiration in his eyes as he instinctively licked his lips with his scarlet tongue.
“Where did this stunning demoness come from?”
“Perfect. I’ll capture you for my master. He’ll surely love this!”
Poison Fang’s greedy eyes roamed over Bai Yao Yao before he lunged toward them.
“You’re courting death, daring to set your sights on me?!”
Bai Yao Yao’s face turned icy, a glimmer flashing in her eyes.
Poison Fang’s flying body froze mid-air, then plummeted to the ground!
Mo Fan’s eyes lit up, opening his mouth to use his divine ability to devour him.
“Run!”
“That guy’s here!”
Bai Yao Yao growled, grabbing Mo Fan and fleeing again.
Mo Fan looked up and saw Qin Changsheng approaching on his bamboo scroll. Reluctantly abandoning the idea of devouring Poison Fang, he raised his hand and unleashed a Thunder Bomb!
Shortly after the two demons fled, a deafening explosion erupted behind them.
“What was that you just threw?”
Bai Yao Yao glanced at Mo Fan in surprise, the power of that object catching even her attention.
“A Thunder Bomb, a one-time high-grade magical weapon!”
Mo Fan replied gruffly, then frowned at the massive mountain peak in the distance. “No, we can’t head to Black Wind Mountain!”
“Since Poison Fang recognised me, he won’t let me go. He knows our only chance of survival is to escape back to Black Wind Mountain, so he’ll definitely intercept us ahead!”
Mo Fan took a deep breath, his gaze flickering several times before he said gravely, “We’ve temporarily shaken them off. Let’s use the aura concealment technique to hide our demonic energy and use the forest to cover our tracks, moving in the opposite direction! That’s our only shot at survival!”
“You’re right!”
Bai Yao Yao nodded, immediately casting the aura concealment technique, completely suppressing her demonic energy.
Mo Fan followed suit, and soon no trace of demonic energy leaked from either of them. They turned and headed in another direction.
Not long after they left, a dishevelled red figure approached from the direction of Black Wind Mountain, landing where the two demons had just been, his face dark as water.
“A mighty demon general, toyed with by two demon lieutenants.”
“Poison Fang, you’ve disappointed me!”
Qin Changsheng arrived from afar, glancing at the grim-faced Poison Fang. He closed his eyes to sense for a moment, then opened them with a slight frown, muttering, “I underestimated those two demons. They know techniques to hide their aura, no wonder they’re so tricky!”
“Master, don’t worry. They can’t outrun me. Even with their aura hidden, they won’t escape my pursuit!”
“I’ll bring their heads to you!”
Poison Fang declared, then shot into the sky.
