Heaven Devourer Chapter 167

The sparrow’s loud cry jolted the group of pursuing flying monsters into realisation. They immediately turned their gazes to the black-robed, bald youth below, all trembling in unison.

Demon Eater!

Mo Fan’s face had just darkened, and before he could speak, the monsters chasing Zha Zha screeched to a halt in mid-air, executed a 180-degree turn, and fled backwards at a speed even faster than when they were chasing Zha Zha.

Mo Fan: “…”

Da Li: “…”

Red Eyes: “…”

“As expected, the boss is fierce. One look and he scared those guys off!”

The sparrow spoke in human tongue, then raised its wings, its palm-sized body plummeting before landing steadily on Da Li’s head.

“Phew! I’m knackered!”

As soon as it landed, the sparrow tilted its head back, collapsing onto Da Li’s head, panting heavily, steaming as if just pulled from a boiling pot.

“Zha Ye, you worked hard this time!”

Da Li’s deep voice rumbled, startling Zha Zha, who had just dozed off, to sit up with a jolt.

“Wait, what did you call me?!”

Zha Zha spoke excitedly, as if it had misheard.

Da Li’s face twitched, as if he’d swallowed a fly, but he still said, “Zha Ye, I owe you one this time!”

“Zha Ye?”

“You called me Zha Ye?”

“Hahahahaha…!!”

“Zha Ye has finally earned his title!”

Zha Zha shouted in excitement, practically dancing. As it hopped, its body shuddered, and a powerful aura burst forth, marking an abrupt breakthrough.

Mo Fan had intended to extract another drop of demon essence from his body for Zha Zha’s breakthrough, but this guy had already done it himself.

“Boss… Boss…”

Zha Zha’s voice trembled. Mo Fan looked at him curiously. “Hm?”

“I think I’ve broken through…”

“I know.”

“I think I’ve awakened a divine ability too!”

“Oh?”

Mo Fan’s interest was piqued. As far as he knew, none of his subordinate demons had awakened a divine ability, so Zha Zha achieving this now was quite intriguing.

“What ability?” Mo Fan asked.

“Wind Dash, it’s Wind Dash!!”

Zha Zha danced with excitement, its demonic aura rippling out, enveloping its body. Moments later, it shuddered again, slowly transforming into a spiritual form under Mo Fan’s gaze, revealing an eight- or nine-year-old child.

Looking at the kid with a small braid on its head and a pair of black wings on its back, Mo Fan was momentarily stunned.

He hadn’t often seen Zha Zha take spiritual form before, and seeing this now, he couldn’t help but chuckle. Still, he knew demons’ age and cultivation couldn’t be judged by size, much like the three-inch-tall demon on his shoulder.

Three Inch was tiny, wasn’t it?

Yet it was a solid Demon Ding.

Though Zha Zha’s spiritual form was only about a metre tall, it was still much bigger than Three Inch.

“Zha Zha, is this Wind Dash ability fierce?” Rabbit Demon Red Eyes asked with a hint of envy.

“Not sure, but it should be fierce. It boosts my flight speed, lets me fly as nimbly as the wind, and, oh, I can control some wind too!”

Zha Zha grinned, flapping its wings behind it. Its spiritual form lifted off the ground.

The next moment, the demons clearly sensed demonic energy flowing through it. A visible hurricane appeared, sweeping forward, stirring the ground’s fallen leaves into a small tornado, looking quite impressive.

After showing off, Zha Zha reverted to its original form, landing back on Da Li’s head, sitting between its horns like a human, clapping its hands proudly. “Clever Rabbit, what do you think of Zha Ye’s divine ability?”

“Too bad I don’t have the boss’s demon-swallowing ability, or I’d swallow you, little sparrow, to stop you showing off!”

Red Eyes grumbled, genuinely jealous now.

“Wind is a force of nature. Controlling it makes this ability quite remarkable!”

Mo Fan spoke slowly, giving high praise, though he felt a pang of regret.

The ability was great, but it was a pity Zha Zha had comprehended it. If it were another demon, he might, as Red Eyes suggested, have swallowed it whole.

“Let’s go find Mr Pig!”

Mo Fan spoke, his face serious as he walked towards another pile of demon corpses.

“Don’t worry, Boss. Pig Bro is definitely fine. Among us little demons, he’s got the best gear and the most cunning mind!”

Sparrow Zha Zha spoke, flying ahead to the pile of corpses. With a fierce flap of its wings, a hurricane emerged, instantly blowing the corpses away.

“Boss, I found Pig Bro!”

At Zha Zha’s shout, Mo Fan quickened his pace.

When the group of demons got closer, they saw Mr Pig, blood-soaked, his right hand gripping a half-moon shovel planted in the ground, his left clutching a slightly damaged round shield, standing silently, as if lifeless.

“No! Pig Bro!!”

“You died so horribly!!”

Zha Zha swooped down from above, landing on Mr Pig’s head, looking sorrowful.

“Old Pig…”

Bull Demon Da Li choked up, turning away, unable to look.

“Old Pig… I thought it’d be the dumb bull or me who’d die this time, not you…”

Rabbit Demon Red Eyes also choked, tears welling in his eyes, ready to spill.

“Boss, what are these guys acting out?”

“This demon brother isn’t dead, is he?”

Suddenly, a shrill voice rang out, startling the three grieving demons.

Not dead?

The three looked up, then turned in unison to the palm-sized demon on Mo Fan’s shoulder.

“Three Inch, what did you just say?”

“Pig Bro’s not dead?”

Zha Zha stared at the tiny demon on the boss’s shoulder, puzzled.

“How do you know my name’s Three Inch?” Three Inch was taken aback.

Mo Fan shook his head, then pointed at Mr Pig, somewhat exasperated. “Mr Pig isn’t dead. Observe his breathing closely. He’s just exhausted and fallen asleep…”

Asleep?!

The three demons’ eyes widened. After sensing carefully, they realised Mr Pig was indeed alive, with faint snores audible.

Mo Fan’s gaze on Mr Pig held some surprise, as he noticed this guy had also broken through to the Demon Ding realm.

Perhaps it was this breakthrough during battle that allowed Mr Pig to take down all the lesser demons surrounding him. Otherwise, he’d have been the one dead.

Realising this, Mo Fan felt a bit of admiration for him and noted he had no serious injuries, saving some effort.

Still, he waved his hand, channelling some demonic energy into Mr Pig’s body.

With the infusion, the snoring Mr Pig jolted awake, opening his eyes.

“Old… Old Bull?”

“Rabbit?”

“Boss!!”

Mr Pig woke to see familiar demons before him, rubbing his eyes.

“Stop rubbing. You’re not seeing things. It’s us!”

Rabbit Demon Red Eyes spoke, circling Mr Pig, eyeing his noticeably sturdier frame. “Old Pig, not bad!”

“You, a single demon, killed so many demons, though you’re still a bit behind your Rabbit Ye!”

“Mr Pig, have you awakened a divine ability?”

Suddenly, Mo Fan asked.

He had a hunch but wasn’t sure, so he posed the question.
