Today’s duel, originally just an insignificant contest, pitted two novice sorcerers against each other to determine who was worthy of joining the Minotaur Magic Guild. However, the outcome astonished everyone, with twists and turns, escalating conflicts, and three powerful sorcerers from the Minotaur Magic Guild left defeated on the ground.
The explosive sorcerer named Tatak, once arrogant and wild, now had a face filled only with endless fear.
Meri’s already rather light attire was now tattered beyond description. Sitting on the ground, she looked at Debbie with a puzzled expression, unable to comprehend how this girl, who could summon such a formidable spirit, had previously been powerless under her [Daze] spell. It was utterly perplexing.
Ryan, panting heavily and in disarray, still bore wounds from Ye Chui’s earlier attacks. As the esteemed vice-president of the Minotaur Magic Guild, he could not accept being defeated like this. His grimoire had vanished due to depleted magic, his body slumped weakly on the ground, yet he had not given up on the fight.
“Gold coins! I have gold coins!” Ryan suddenly shouted, looking at Jilga, who resembled a valkyrie. He pulled a clinking coin pouch from his robe and said to her, “You need gold coins, I can give you gold coins!”
He had realised Jilga required gold coins to convert into power, and though Debbie and Ye Chui had already given her all their wealth, he still had money. As the vice-president of the Minotaur Magic Guild, his wealth in gold coins was no small sum.
At that moment, Ryan’s eyes even gleamed with fervour, thinking he might secure a powerful battle spirit.
But soon, he realised how laughable his actions were.
“Are you insulting me?” Jilga looked down at the dishevelled Ryan. “A defeated man dares to enslave me with gold coins! What right does gold touched by your filthy bloodline have to become my power? Humble and weak man, put away your greedy heart. My master in this world is Miss Debbie alone, only her wise soul and valiant presence are worthy of my utmost loyalty!”
Jilga’s impassioned words echoed around, and everyone seemed to feel the blazing knightly spirit within her.
Debbie nodded repeatedly, and upon hearing Jilga’s final words, she couldn’t help but agree, “Yes, yes, yes.”
Ye Chui couldn’t resist glancing at the flat-chested, quirky girl. Wise soul? Valiant presence? Come on… taking money didn’t mean she had to flatter so shamelessly. It was clearly a quirky soul and a flat-chested presence, wasn’t it?
Jilga’s golden longsword was now at Ryan’s shoulder, as if it might sever his head at any moment.
Ryan’s face paled, and he hurriedly said, “No, don’t kill me! I’m the vice-president of the Minotaur Magic Guild!”
Though this world had strict criminal laws, it was lenient regarding duels and vendettas. The fight between Ryan’s trio and Ye Chui and Debbie, witnessed by many, was their fault for trying to brutally oppress Ye Chui and Debbie first. They hadn’t expected to hit such a costly nail and be counter-killed, so they had only themselves to blame.
Even if Jilga killed him now, no one would hold Ye Chui or Debbie accountable, though retaliation from the Minotaur Magic Guild would be inevitable.
Ye Chui frowned slightly, wanting to eliminate the threat completely, but this wasn’t the best choice now. As he hesitated, Debbie spoke, “Jilga, make him take the Oath of Gold.”
“The Oath of Gold?” Ye Chui was puzzled.
Jilga nodded, sheathing her sword with a swish, and said to Ryan, “I can spare you, but you must never again attack Miss Debbie or her companions!” She paused, then pointed at the coin pouch in Ryan’s hand. “Swear it on the gold coins.”
Swear on gold coins?
Ye Chui looked at Debbie, confused.
Debbie leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Jilga can control the dragon’s breath in gold. An Oath of Gold sworn in her presence is overseen by the gold. If Ryan and the others break it later, the dragon’s breath in the gold will use the oath’s power to kill them directly.”
“Damn, that’s impressive!” Ye Chui exclaimed. He glanced around and noticed that everyone, including Kas, the town mayor, looked puzzled, clearly unaware of what the Oath of Gold was.
Ryan seemed to find it odd, swearing on gold coins? He glanced at the pouch in his hand and, without much hesitation, said, “Fine, I swear on the gold coins that I will never attack Miss Debbie or her companions again.”
Tatak and Meri quickly echoed Ryan’s words.
Jilga closed her eyes, silent for a moment. When she opened them, she said softly, “The oath is sealed!”
At that moment, neither Ryan’s trio nor the onlookers noticed a faint aura spreading from Jilga, settling on the three, forming an invisible shackle…
Jilga ignored them and turned to Debbie.
As she moved, everyone’s gaze fell on the girl who seemed so unreliable yet now appeared profoundly enigmatic. Debbie had shocked everyone, so extraordinary, effortlessly shifting between quirky and formidable, so natural that no one could predict what would happen next with her…
Ryan’s trio supported each other, preparing to leave.
“Wait a moment,” Kas suddenly called out. He stepped forward, glancing at Jilga, his battle-hungry heart yearning to challenge her, to let his “big treasure” fight, but he suppressed the urge. He turned to Ryan’s trio.
“Mayor?” Meri asked warily, unsure of what Kas would say.
“Don’t leave yet, I have something to say.”
Kas scanned the surroundings and continued, “Not long ago, the Temple of the Goddess of Wealth collapsed. Teacher Merlin found a coordinate in the ruins, likely leading to the Relics of the Gods. Now, Teacher Merlin is trying to open that coordinate. Once it’s fully open, major guilds and mercenary groups can venture there for this adventure…”
Kas had come to observe the duel with the initial purpose of spreading news about the exploration of the Relics of the Gods.
At his words, everyone was stunned.
“The Relics of the Gods!?” Los, beside Ye Chui, exclaimed, “My goodness, Stan Town has a coordinate to the Relics of the Gods!?”
Ye Chui and Debbie exchanged a glance, seeing the same emotion in each other’s eyes: Damn, that dungeon they thought was theirs had been discovered by someone else!
