A pitch-black coffin caught Ye Qiu’s eye.
This coffin wasn’t for an adult, but a small one, about a metre long, clearly meant for a child.
“Ruyi’s full moon, and someone sends a coffin? They’re courting death!”
Ye Qiu’s gaze turned icy, his body radiating a chilling intent to kill.
Lin Jingzhi and Qian Shanxue hurried over.
“What’s wrong?”
As Lin Jingzhi spoke, she glanced inside the car and immediately, her face filled with murderous intent.
“Who sent this? They must be tired of living!”
Despite her usual alluring demeanour, Lin Jingzhi could be terrifying when provoked.
Qian Shanxue saw the coffin too, anger flaring in her eyes. “Who did this?”
Ye Qiu didn’t respond, instead striking the coffin lid open with a palm.
Inside was a round wall clock.
Next to it lay a piece of white paper, with a sentence written in blood.
“Ye Qiu, may your entire family meet a bad end.”
Lin Jingzhi was furious. “How dare they provoke us so openly? We can’t let this person go. We must find them.”
Just then—
“Get back!”
Ye Qiu grabbed Lin Jingzhi and Qian Shanxue, sliding twenty metres away in an instant.
“Boom!”
The clock exploded, the coffin shattered into pieces, and the entire Lincoln was blown to bits.
Ye Qiu turned to the driver, demanding, “Who told you to deliver this?”
The driver didn’t answer and bolted.
Swish!
Ye Qiu flashed forward, blocking the driver’s path.
“Today is my daughter’s full moon. I don’t want to kill anyone. If you tell me who sent you, I’ll spare your life,” Ye Qiu said coldly.
“I…” The driver began to speak, but foam poured from his mouth.
Within three seconds, he collapsed, dead.
Ye Qiu crouched to examine the body, then said, “This driver was poisoned, timed to die after delivering the item.”
“Such ruthless tactics,” Lin Jingzhi said coldly. “I’ll send people to investigate.”
“No need…” Before Ye Qiu could finish, guests poured out of the hotel.
The explosion had been loud, startling everyone inside.
“Ye Qiu, what happened?”
“I heard an explosion!”
“Is someone causing trouble?”
The crowd questioned.
Seeing the wrecked Lincoln, Deputy Mayor Huang said angrily, “This is outrageous! Such audacity in broad daylight, utterly lawless. Xiao Ye, I’ll call the police to investigate this thoroughly.”
He pulled out his phone.
“Deputy Mayor Huang, thank you for your kindness, but I don’t want to trouble you with this,” Ye Qiu said, then smiled at the crowd. “Sorry, just a small incident that startled everyone. Please head back inside!”
“Luoying, Xiao Xiao, Yiren, Han Long, Zhao Yun, please look after the guests.”
“Qingcheng, Xiao Zhan, you two stay.”
Soon, the crowd returned to the hotel.
“Boss, what happened?” Xiao Zhan asked.
Ye Qiu briefly explained the situation, and Xiao Zhan was enraged.
“Damn it, causing trouble here? Are they tired of living?”
Xiao Zhan said, “Boss, I’ll investigate right away. Don’t worry, I’ll find the culprit.”
Ye Qiu said, “Qingcheng, assist Xiao Zhan. I want answers before the banquet ends.”
Cao Qingcheng nodded. “Yes!”
“Also, strengthen security around the hotel. This must not happen again,” Ye Qiu ordered Xiao Zhan. “Clean up the scene quickly.”
“Yes!” Xiao Zhan and Cao Qingcheng got to work immediately.
Ye Qiu turned to Qian Shanxue. “I’m sorry, Xue. I didn’t expect this to happen. Whoever did this, I won’t let them go.”
Qian Shanxue said softly, “This isn’t your fault. It’s clear someone is targeting you. Be careful.”
Ye Qiu nodded.
At that moment, Qian Jinglan came out of the hotel, asking, “Qiu’er, I heard there was an explosion. What’s going on?”
Ye Qiu said, “Mum, it’s handled. Don’t worry.”
“Mm.” Qian Jinglan nodded, glanced at her watch, and said, “Duoduo went to pick up your grandfather. They should be here soon.”
As she spoke, five cars pulled up at the hotel entrance.
Old Master Qian had arrived!
After getting out, Old Master Qian smiled and said, “Ye Qiu, look who’s here!”
The door of another car opened, and a middle-aged couple stepped out, the man handsome, the woman beautiful.
Ye Qiu was stunned. It was Lin Jingzhi’s parents, Lin Liguo and Li Muqing.
He glanced at Lin Jingzhi, who shook her head.
Clearly, she hadn’t known either.
“Uncle, Auntie, how did you get here?” Ye Qiu hurried to greet them.
Lin Jingzhi said, “Dad, Mum, why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I would’ve picked you up!”
“You only have eyes for Ye Qiu. Do you even remember us?” Lin Liguo pretended to glare at her, then smiled at Ye Qiu. “Such a big event, and you didn’t tell us? Were you afraid we’d cause trouble?”
Ye Qiu quickly said, “No, no, it’s because…”
Before he could finish, Li Muqing laughed. “No need to explain, Ye Qiu. Your uncle’s joking. We understand, but your daughter’s full moon is such a joyous occasion. As elders, we had to come congratulate you and visit your mother-in-law.”
Qian Jinglan stepped forward, warmly taking Li Muqing’s hand to chat.
Lin Liguo handed Ye Qiu a brocade box, saying, “A small trinket for Ruyi.”
Ye Qiu opened it to find a pair of valuable jade Ruyi ornaments.
“Thank you, Uncle,” Ye Qiu said gratefully.
Qian Duoduo handed Ye Qiu an envelope, saying, “Cousin, my dad couldn’t come. This is what he asked me to bring for Ruyi.”
Ye Qiu opened it to find a cheque for ten million!
Then, Old Master Qian said, “I’ve had all my book collection sent to Jiangzhou, ten thousand volumes in total, for Ruyi.”
Ye Qiu had seen Old Master Qian’s collection before, many of which were rare, priceless editions.
Ye Qiu teased, “Grandfather, those books are your treasures. Are you really willing to give them to Ruyi?”
“What, is Ruyi not my treasure?” Old Master Qian retorted, then called out, “Jinglan, where’s Ruyi? Take me to see her!”
“Ye Qiu, you handle the guests. We’ll head inside,” Lin Liguo said.
Just then, a black car with a military license plate pulled up.
