Code Mage Chapter 163

Although Ye Chui claimed his new spell was called [Explosion is Justice], its true name was [Underpowered Nuclear Blast]. The name sounded far less impressive, which is why Ye Chui opted for the more grandiose title.

It was his spell, so he could call it whatever he liked.

As an intermediate magic mentor, Ye Chui faced limitations. He couldn’t fully grasp a nuclear explosion spell’s true power. His [Insight] was triggered by scenes from films and anime, adapted to a certain extent, but there was a ceiling to this adaptation. He had now hit that ceiling. Even so, the spell’s power was not something just anything could withstand.

Underpowered or not, it was still a nuclear blast!

With a wave of Ye Chui’s hand, a missile’s phantom formed around his arm, resembling the nuclear warhead from *Broken Arrow*. Simultaneously, an overwhelming sense of exhaustion swept over him. With a whoosh, he hurled the illusory nuclear missile toward the crumbling crystal. Holding Reisha tightly, he mustered all his strength, transforming into a fleeting shadow to escape as fast as possible.

This missile spell had nearly drained all of Ye Chui’s power!

His iPad magic book’s remaining mana was down to 1%, flickering as if it might vanish at any moment.

Ye Chui’s mana reserves weren’t sufficient to cast this powerful spell. Using it instantly consumed all his mana, with the remaining 1% only lingering because the spell required a final spark to detonate. Uncertain of the explosion’s range, he fled as far as he could.

He urgently said to Reisha in his arms, “Quick, try to restore my mana!”

The spell’s activation was tied to the magic book. He was currently using [Wind Walk]. If the book vanished due to mana depletion, the active spell would dissipate. Even summoning the book again immediately wouldn’t sustain the spell.

Hearing Ye Chui, Reisha hurriedly opened her magic book, only for her eyes to widen in shock. “Oh no, the text in this book is written in forbidden divine script. I can’t read it…”

Forbidden divine script, said to be invented by the God of Gods, was reserved for gods in the divine realm and select human warriors. After the gods’ fall, the script retained its divinity, deemed heretical by the Church. Not only was learning it forbidden, but items or scrolls bearing it were destroyed.

“Divine script?” Ye Chui’s face tensed. Come on, don’t fail me now! He had banked on Reisha, now wielding the holy Bible, regaining her ability to restore mana.

The mana bar at the top of his magic book’s screen flickered more intensely, the book itself growing unstable, on the verge of vanishing.

Sweating, Reisha frantically flipped through the Bible, desperation mounting. Finally, she snapped it shut.

Forget it, she’d go by instinct…

Suddenly, Reisha wrapped an arm around Ye Chui’s neck, leaned forward, and pressed her lips to his.

“I’ve got you!” she shouted just before their lips met.

Then, Ye Chui watched as his iPad’s mana bar surged: 1%… 2%… 3%…

He was stunned. What the heck? Restoring mana through a kiss?

What kind of logic was this!?

But there was no time to dwell on it. With mana restored, his speed surged, shifting from [Wind Walk] to [Wind God Legs]. Through a faint connection, he triggered the nuclear missile he’d launched.

From launch to detonation, less than ten seconds had passed.

The massive crystal was already fracturing. With a crash, the devil’s claw broke through, extending outward. Its body and head were still bound, but its red eyes swivelled, trembling as they fixed on the nuclear missile at its feet.

Though underpowered, the devil sensed the terrifying force within.

“My God!” Talbot, staggering forward despite his severed arm, threw himself onto the missile, vainly trying to shield it with his body.

But how could he?

Boom!!!

A colossal shockwave shook the earth. A distant hill collapsed, dark, corrupted trees were uprooted by a hurricane, and dust and debris filled the air. Debbie, Godo, and the others, miles from the seal, felt the fierce wind. The ferocious beasts, terrified, abandoned their coordinated assault on Godo and scattered, screaming.

Looking toward the seal, a massive mushroom cloud rose into the sky.

Debbie and the others gaped, their expressions frozen in shock. Though they hadn’t seen Ye Chui cast the spell, they instantly knew he was behind it!

As the explosion’s shockwave subsided, Ye Chui, holding Reisha, lay prone on the ground, covered in dust and debris, with bits of dry grass and branches. Sitting up, the debris fell away. He brushed his head and glanced back. Perfect, world peace achieved. Nothing remained of the devil’s seal, not even a trace.

A nuclear blast left nothing behind.

Ye Chui was very satisfied with this trump card.

And this was still an underpowered spell!

Only then did he notice Reisha beneath him. He quickly looked down.

Oh?

“Little brother…” Reisha’s face was unnaturally flushed, her eyes half-closed as she looked at him. “Could you take your hand off my chest?”

“Accident, pure accident!” Ye Chui leapt up, earnestly explaining to Reisha. Was today’s luck a bit excessive?

Reisha, understanding the chaos of the moment, adjusted her clothes shyly, still clutching the Bible. Thinking of how she’d used the holy words, she rubbed her lips, puzzled. Why had she done that?

Her gaze shifted to the devil’s seal. She froze. “Little brother, where are we?”

“Still in the forbidden zone. I didn’t expect my spell to be so powerful, flattening everything. Quite a headache,” Ye Chui said in a casually boastful tone, smiling as Reisha gaped in astonishment.

“Is the devil dead?” Reisha asked, snapping out of it.

“Probably,” Ye Chui replied, opening his iPad’s map to check the devil’s status.

His eyes widened in shock. On the map, the devil appeared as a large red dot, and it hadn’t vanished. It was rapidly approaching them!

“Even that explosion didn’t kill it?” Ye Chui said, stunned. He realised the explosion, while devastating physically (if physics applied in this magical world…), couldn’t fully destroy the devil, which had the ability to tempt souls.

“It’s coming!” Ye Chui looked toward the approaching devil, then at Reisha. “Reisha, kiss me again.”

“Little brother?” Reisha was startled.

“I mean, restore my mana again…” Ye Chui corrected hastily.

“Oh.” Reisha nodded, clutching the unreadable Bible and repeating the mana restoration method: [Holy Word: I’ve Got You]!

The large red dot soon appeared before Ye Chui. To his shock, it wasn’t the devil’s towering, monstrous form but… Talbot.

Talbot looked wretched, his bishop’s robe tattered, body bloodied, yet clearly alive. He stumbled toward Ye Chui, his mangled face seemingly… grinning?

Ye Chui checked the map. The figure before him was marked as the devil!

The devil had possessed Talbot!

This wasn’t full possession but a soul attachment. As Ye Chui’s nuclear missile was about to detonate, the devil, unable to escape the seal in time, had freed its soul. With one claw already free, this was easy, allowing it to attach to Talbot and reach Ye Chui!

“Are you the devil or Talbot?” Ye Chui asked warily, watching his mana rise.

Talbot’s response stunned him. “Are you the devil or Talbot?”

“Are you mimicking me?” Ye Chui asked, bewildered.

“Are you mimicking me?” Talbot echoed.

“What are you doing?”

“What are you doing?”

Reisha, shocked, asked Ye Chui, “Little brother, what’s wrong with him?”

Talbot didn’t mimic her.

“How should I know?” Ye Chui shook his head.

“How should I know?” Talbot shook his head.

“No matter, let’s blast him first!” Ye Chui said, preparing [Second Battalion Commander’s Italian Cannon]. A phantom cannon formed around him.

But—

“No matter, let’s blast him first!” the devil said, an identical cannon forming around him.

“He can copy my spell!?” Ye Chui exclaimed.

“He can copy my spell!?” Talbot echoed.

Reisha, frowning, picked up a stone and hurled it at Talbot. It struck his forehead. Ye Chui, curious, asked, “Reisha, what are you doing?” Then, startled, he touched his forehead. “I felt that?”

“Reisha, what are you doing?” Talbot said, touching his forehead. “I felt that?”

“I don’t know what’s happening…” Reisha said to Ye Chui, horrified. “The devil seems linked to you somehow! Attacking Talbot will harm you too!”

“What the heck!” Ye Chui realised.

“What the heck!” Talbot exclaimed.

Godo, Debbie, Cass, Winsa, Green, Ji Ji, and Guni arrived, seeing the scene. Guni shouted, leaping forward, swinging her stone sword at Talbot.

“Stop!” Ye Chui yelled.

“Stop!” Talbot echoed.

But before his words landed, Godo leapt up. “Let me handle this!” the chubby man roared, swinging his sword. [Hero Godo’s Charge]. Waves of unstoppable sword energy struck Talbot before Guni’s attack could land…
