Code Mage Chapter 179

Gunny held the sword with both hands, a sword even larger than her own body. That greatsword looked truly ferocious in its aura, with blood-red flames coiling around it. The flames condensed into the form of a giant dragon, constantly flying and rotating around the greatsword, emitting roar after roar.

Some of the red flames had already scorched Gunny’s body, but these flames, transformed from Gunny’s sword aura, did no harm to her. Only her clothes could not escape unscathed. The fur garments on her arms had already burned into ash-black remnants.

Yet Gunny’s face bore an excited expression. This sword was far more powerful than the stone sword she usually wielded. Holding it in both hands, she felt a sense of blood connection. This sword could maximise the power within her body!

Incorporating the dragon ant carapace into the greatsword had indeed granted it immense destructive power. It could even unleash the giant dragon phenomenon. This weapon could truly be called a divine armament. However, this weapon was probably only usable by Gunny. Anyone else would be unable to bear the vast sword aura required to wield it. Only someone like Gunny, who could accumulate massive sword aura simply by eating, could use it freely.

The slashes Gunny unleashed with this dragon ant greatsword could similarly activate the dragon ant phenomenon. Her sword aura would cling to the enemy, transforming into flame dragon ants that brought pain akin to ten thousand ants gnawing at the body.

Abdu knelt in the pit on the street, emitting wail after wail from his mouth. Those fire-red dragon ants crawled constantly over his body. His already shattered armour was directly gnawed away piece by piece by those terrifying ants, which then continued to tear at his flesh. The scorching heat of the flames and the agony of the gnawing tormented Abdu. A burnt stench wafted through the surroundings, leaving this swordsman of considerable willpower in utter misery.

He pitifully cried out to Ye Chui and Gunny, “Spare me! I beg you, spare me. I was wrong…”

Ye Chui looked towards Gunny. Gunny’s nature was pure and innocent. The world she lived in held no such deceptions and intrigues. In battle, a loss was a loss. Since he had surrendered, she had no reason to continue fighting. So she swung her greatsword once. The red flames coiling around it vanished into thin air, and at the same time, the flame dragon ants on Abdu’s body suddenly disappeared without a trace.

It seemed that although this was Gunny’s first time using the dragon ant greatsword, she already understood its power well.

She happily jumped to Ye Chui’s side, gripping the greatsword with both hands. “This sword is amazing. For the first time, I can release my sword aura externally. The elder said this is the realm of an advanced swordsman!”

Beginner swordsman, intermediate swordsman, advanced swordsman represented three entirely distinct tiers. However, each tier had different power characteristics. Ye Chui had also heard Cass explain them.

A beginner swordsman could freely convert the magic power contained in every person’s body into sword aura. Swordsmen who reached this step would see an enhancement in their physical qualities. Through the effect of sword aura, a person’s strength would multiply. In this regard, sword aura was more like the internal energy Ye Chui understood.

An intermediate swordsman could go further, releasing sword aura onto the weapon in their hand. A longsword, no matter how sharp, could not cut through stone or sever a tree as thick as a person’s waist in one stroke. But if the longsword was infused with sword aura, it could add bonuses to sharpness, hardness, and so on, making such feats easy. Combined with sword techniques, the power would become even greater.

Powerful swordsmen could cleave boulders and massive trees even with ordinary wooden swords or sticks, precisely because their sword aura was strong enough.

An advanced swordsman could go even further, allowing sword aura to detach from the body and become an external attack energy. Only at this step could a swordsman truly be considered a powerful expert. The sword techniques released by an advanced swordsman would also be far more terrifying.

Of course, it was worth noting that a swordsman’s rank did not represent their true strength. Warriors who had truly experienced slaughter would never judge an opponent’s power by realm alone. Some people might easily reach the realm of advanced swordsman or magic tutor, but their comprehension of sword aura or spells would be shallow. Their attack power might not even match that of ordinary beginner swordsmen or magic tutors.

This was why Ye Chui, at the level of a beginner magic tutor, had been able to clash head-on with those advanced swordsmen and magic tutors in Stan Town.

At this moment, Ye Chui looked at the dragon ant greatsword in Gunny’s hands. When Gunny withdrew her sword aura, the sword still presented a reddish hue, like red-hot iron, yet with a ruby-like texture. Ye Chui carefully extended his hand to touch the blade. There was no expected scorching heat; instead, it felt icy cold, as if touching crystal.

The sword’s blade was very rough, without a sharp edge. It looked as if the steel had been casually hammered into a sword shape.

Its hilt was fully half a metre long, further increasing the sword’s overall mass. In the hands of the smaller-framed Gunny, it appeared even more colossal.

The blacksmith shop owner hurriedly ran out. He had witnessed the entire scene of Gunny’s battle. He knew exactly who Abdu was. When he saw Abdu charge in ferociously, his instinctive thought was that Gunny had no chance of resisting. Yet the outcome was unexpected. Gunny gripped the sword with both hands and swung it once. Flames erupted, and Abdu flew out in defeat.

What a strike that was!

That scorching heat was more terrifying than the furnace fire in the small courtyard. And that heart-stopping dragon roar!

“Sir, miss, this sword is not yet complete. It still needs sharpening and further forging…” The owner walked to Ye Chui’s side, his voice trembling as he spoke. His eyes were full of awe, not towards Ye Chui or Gunny, but towards that sword. He had run a blacksmith shop for thirty years and had never seen such a divine armament before. Most importantly, this weapon had been born in his blacksmith shop!

What glory that was.

“No need. I am very satisfied with it like this. No need for you to sharpen it.” Gunny refused the owner’s suggestion. This sword would grow with her. It would hone its own edge in battle after battle!

Ye Chui thus nodded to the owner. “Then that is it. Owner, settle the bill. The two greatswords and the forging fees…” He glanced at the somewhat messy and dishevelled blacksmith shop and continued, “Sorry for making such a mess here. Include the damages as well.”

“No, no, how could I possibly take your gold coins!” Seeing Ye Chui take out gold coins, the owner panicked and shook his head. “To forge such a divine armament, our blacksmith shop has already benefited from you. How could we dare charge you further!”

For a blacksmith shop, forging such a weapon was indeed a matter of honour. Ye Chui politely declined a few more times, but seeing the owner insist on not accepting payment, he let it go. He prepared to leave with Gunny.

While he spoke to the owner, his spellbook had remained summoned. He had also kept staring at the spellbook’s screen.

Abdu had been gravely wounded by Gunny’s sword and knelt begging for mercy. Gunny kindly dispelled the flame dragon ants on him. But Ye Chui noticed on the spellbook that the dot representing Abdu remained red. He still harboured intense hostility towards him!

Heh, interesting…

Ye Chui pulled Gunny to turn around.

On the other side, Abdu had already stood up with the support of his group members. He was a picture of wretchedness, covered in blood, his face pale and ghastly. However, just as Ye Chui and Gunny turned, Abdu suddenly struck. He snatched a longsword from the waist of a nearby group member and charged towards Ye Chui and Gunny like a tiger pouncing on its prey.

He unleashed a powerful sword technique right from the start.

The surrounding crowd was caught off guard and cried out in alarm.

Only a few noticed that, just as Abdu drew the longsword from his group member’s side to attack, a faint shadow suddenly condensed on Ye Chui’s body. It was a strange… cannon.

Explosion intermediate spell: [Company Commander’s Italian Cannon]

Just as Abdu’s sword technique activated and his sword aura closed in on Ye Chui and Gunny, boom!

A dazzling burst of firelight erupted before everyone’s eyes. Abdu did not even have time to cry out. His body exploded into a cloud of blood mist in mid-air. Only a broken blade fragment fell to the ground. This scene stunned everyone.

In this magical world, many had heard of explosion magic, and quite a few had seen it cast. But seeing someone like Ye Chui blast a person into blood mist with a single spell was a first!

Ye Chui’s face bore a cold smile. He turned his head, sweeping his gaze over the pale-faced members of the Palm Leaf Mercenary Group and the stunned onlookers around. “Since he knelt and begged for mercy yet still ambushed us, what I just did was legitimate self-defence. You all saw it.”

Legitimate self-defence by blasting someone to slag with a cannon… No issue!

Gunny widened her eyes in some confusion. She slung the super greatsword over her slender shoulder and looked at Ye Chui. “Why did he still attack us just now?”

“Gunny, the outside world is not like the people in the Holy Light Forest. Given half a chance, they will do anything. You will understand slowly in time.” Ye Chui said with a smile. He glanced again at the stunned crowd around, his gaze settling on those few Palm Leaf Mercenary Group members. “I am Ye Chui, president of the three-star guild Whatever Magic Guild. If you want revenge for your leader, come find me.”

The group members stiffened at once. One of them even subconsciously shook his head, looking utterly dumbfounded.

Ye Chui and Gunny continued on their way.

In Windrock City, the legend of the cannon boy and the greatsword girl thus began to spread…
