“What’s that?”
Ge Feng, Ge Ying, and the one-eyed man stared in disbelief. Turning around, they saw Li Feng standing calmly, with all of the one-eyed man’s henchmen lying on the ground.
“How is this possible?”
The one-eyed man’s face changed drastically. Ge Feng and Ge Ying were still unresolved, yet Li Feng had already killed all his men. If Li Feng teamed up with Ge Feng, how could he possibly stand a chance?
At that moment, the one-eyed man felt the urge to retreat.
“Planning to leave?”
In a flash, Li Feng blocked the one-eyed man’s path.
“Move aside,” the one-eyed man snorted coldly, eyeing Li Feng warily.
“Since you’re here, don’t think about leaving,” Li Feng sneered. He had no intention of letting the one-eyed man go. Only the one-eyed man and the Ge siblings knew about the Earth Martial Realm ruins. If the one-eyed man escaped, the secret of the ruins would be exposed.
While his strength wasn’t overwhelming, Li Feng didn’t want to reveal too much about himself. Besides, the one-eyed man had just tried to kill him. Allowing someone who wanted him dead to walk away was wishful thinking.
“Do you know who I am? Do you know who my master is? Cross me, and you’ll regret it,” the one-eyed man threatened.
Li Feng sneered. Threatening him now was utterly foolish and overconfident. If the one-eyed man had known better, he wouldn’t have ordered his men to attack earlier.
“Ge Feng, you kill him, or should I?” Li Feng ignored the one-eyed man and turned to Ge Feng.
“I’ll do it,” Ge Feng said in a low voice.
The one-eyed man had been chasing him and his sister for days. If not for their life-saving measures, they might have died at his hands. Now, with only the one-eyed man left, Ge Feng wouldn’t let him go.
There was another reason, too: Li Feng. Li Feng had taken down four of the one-eyed man’s men. If Ge Feng couldn’t even handle the one-eyed man himself, he would feel unworthy. In the Ge family, he was hailed as a cultivation genius. Failing to kill the one-eyed man would make him question how he could still be called a genius.
“Fine.” Li Feng stepped back three paces, keeping a close eye on the one-eyed man. Whether Ge Feng could kill him or not, Li Feng needed to ensure the one-eyed man didn’t escape.
“Kill!” Ge Feng roared, leaping into the air, his longsword creating flashes of sword light.
“Looking for death,” the one-eyed man sneered. He was wary of Li Feng, but he had no fear of Ge Feng. Seeing Li Feng blocking his escape route, he knew running was futile. However, when Ge Feng charged at him, the one-eyed man had an idea: capture Ge Feng, and he might have a chance to survive.
With that thought, the one-eyed man rushed forward without hesitation, engaging Ge Feng in combat.
“Li Feng, I didn’t expect you to be this powerful,” Ge Ying said, bouncing over to Li Feng’s side, her eyes wide with amazement. “You’re way stronger than my brother, aren’t you?”
“Really? I think your brother is stronger than me,” Li Feng replied with a faint smile, keeping his eyes on the fight between Ge Feng and the one-eyed man. “Why aren’t you helping your brother?”
“He can handle it alone,” Ge Ying replied. She knew her brother was the family’s cultivation genius. If he hadn’t been protecting her these past few days, they wouldn’t have been chased so miserably by the one-eyed man. Now, with a chance for revenge, she wanted to let her brother have his moment.
Li Feng nodded. Ge Feng was slightly stronger than the one-eyed man and could handle him, though killing him wouldn’t be easy. In the Hundred Thousand Mountains, dangers lurked everywhere. If Ge Feng couldn’t deal with this small matter, Li Feng would think less of him.
Compared to the one-eyed man, Ge Feng had one weakness: experience. While the one-eyed man’s strength was inferior, his combat experience was vast. Ge Feng, on the other hand, was clearly lacking in this regard.
“Li Feng, how did you cultivate? My brother is the family’s genius, but compared to you, he’s far behind,” Ge Ying said, blinking her beautiful eyes curiously at Li Feng. All her life, her brother Ge Feng had been her idol, young and exceptionally skilled. But seeing Li Feng’s prowess today shattered her worldview. She realized her brother wasn’t the strongest among the younger generation.
“How else? Just cultivate as usual. If you work hard, you can be this strong too,” Li Feng said.
“Really?” Ge Ying said, somewhat incredulous. Hard work? She had worked hard, but her progress was still minimal.
“Of course,” Li Feng nodded, his gaze fixed on the unfolding battle.
The fight between Ge Feng and the one-eyed man had reached a fever pitch. At the start, Ge Feng was at a disadvantage due to his lack of combat experience. But as time passed, he grew more seasoned, quickly turning the tables and suppressing the one-eyed man.
“How are you this strong?” the one-eyed man asked, blocking one of Ge Feng’s attacks, staring at him in disbelief. He had chased the Ge siblings for days, thinking he knew their strength, unaware that Ge Feng had hidden depths.
“You’re just too weak,” Ge Feng sneered. Fighting the one-eyed man one-on-one, without worrying about his sister’s safety, allowed Ge Feng to perform beyond his usual limits. The one-eyed man, unaware of this, assumed Ge Feng had concealed his true strength.
“Ge Feng, I’ll let you off for now,” the one-eyed man said, making a feint before turning to flee.
“Want to leave?” Ge Feng sneered, flinging his longsword.
Swoosh…
The sword let out a piercing whistle as it chased the one-eyed man.
The one-eyed man glanced back, seeing the sword turn into a streak of dark light speeding toward him. Terrified, he stomped the ground and dodged to the side, barely avoiding the deadly strike, though he was a fraction too slow.
“Spurt!”
A sound like cutting tofu rang out as the dark light slashed across the one-eyed man, severing his left arm.
“Ah!” the one-eyed man screamed, but he only paused briefly before speeding up again.
Could he escape from Li Feng?
The answer was no.
As he vanished into the woods, a gunshot rang out.
Bang!
The one-eyed man fell.
“Is that a gun?” Ge Ying asked, curiously eyeing the pistol in Li Feng’s hand.
“Yes, it’s a gun,” Li Feng said with a smile. He had anticipated the one-eyed man’s escape attempt. There was no way he could get away.
“Can I see it?” Ge Ying asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement, like a child spotting a toy.
“Take it,” Li Feng said, tossing the gun to her.
Ge Ying caught it and began examining it eagerly. Worried she might not understand its dangers, Li Feng quickly explained the risks to prevent her from accidentally firing it.
“Li Feng, you’re incredible,” Ge Feng said, approaching with admiration. For days, he and his sister had been hunted by the one-eyed man. Besides protecting Ge Ying, he knew the one-eyed man’s men were formidable. If Li Feng hadn’t killed four of them, shaking the one-eyed man’s confidence, Ge Feng wouldn’t have defeated him so easily.
At the same time, Ge Feng felt ashamed. Since meeting Li Feng the previous night, he had been wary of him. Now, he realized that if Li Feng had meant them harm, they would have been powerless.
“Brother, someone finally outshone you,” Ge Ying said excitedly, seemingly thrilled that Li Feng surpassed her brother.
“Yeah,” Ge Feng nodded. There was always someone better, a sky beyond the sky. He had always hoped to meet a peer stronger than himself, but none he encountered were his match. Now, meeting Li Feng, he was genuinely excited. If they weren’t in the Hundred Thousand Mountains, he would have challenged Li Feng to a spar.
“We should go,” Li Feng said, glancing at the bodies on the ground. So many corpses could attract beasts, so it was best to leave quickly.
“Alright,” Ge Feng nodded, retrieving his longsword from the one-eyed man’s side. He followed Li Feng and Ge Ying as they left the scene.
On the way, Ge Ying noticed Li Feng carrying a large pack and couldn’t help asking, “Li Feng, what’s in that bag? Can’t you put it in a storage pouch?”
