Code Mage Chapter 308

Long Bao had slumbered for nearly a month before finally awakening. After devouring the dragon soul, his strength had surged dramatically, and his size had exploded in growth. Now, if Long Bao encountered that water magical beast from the Anduin family’s hot spring manor again, a mere [Dragon’s Might] would likely shatter and kill it outright.

Even against the Black Mountain ant swarm, Ye Chui would no longer need his undead army for protection. Long Bao’s black-gold dragon flame could absolutely incinerate those fire-resistant ants to ash!

His body was now immensely burly, his black-gold scales gleaming with an indescribably cool sheen. Soaring above the group, he blotted out the sky. The charging Blood Scorpion Tribe warriors did not halt their advance, but genuine fear etched their faces. Not just them; even the Green Bay Tribe members showed shocked expressions.

And knowing this terrifying divine beast dragon was summoned by Ye Chui filled them with an inexplicable sense of security. Heaven blesses the Green Bay!

Debbie and the others gaped in astonishment too. Long Bao had woken from one nap to this colossal size, but Debbie soon recalled the dragon head mountain they had seen in the Goddess of Fortune ruins, and the dragon dung mountain in the Sword Burial Grounds… Long Bao still had a long way to go to reach his peak.

Long Bao circled the sky a few times before roaring and diving towards the oncoming Blood Scorpion Tribe warriors, poised to resolve the entire threat single-handedly.

It was rather pitiful for the Sixth Prince, who had been brimming with hot blood and ready for a fierce battle. He posed with his longsword in a dashingly cool stance, yet found no chance to strike…

The Fifth Prince, Kunlan, Ming Yi, and her son wore similar expressions. They had seen Ye Chui summon Long Bao before, but this version still shocked them deeply. They even began to feel fortunate in their hearts, glad they had not opposed Ye Chui but instead submitted to the Thirteenth Prince at his side.

Long Bao unleashed roar after roar, spewing dragon flames at the Blood Scorpion Tribe warriors below, who resembled ants from afar, scattering them in disarray. Occasionally, a few Blood Scorpion warriors broke through to the centre, but they were mere small fry, swiftly dispatched by the Green Bay warriors. What had seemed a desperate life-or-death struggle suddenly turned into a child’s play, utterly effortless.

Ye Chui used this lull to check the new features of his magic guide book. In the pull-down notification bar, he found the upgrade summary interface.

The most notable aspect of the advanced archmage realm is that archmages can create their own spells. Of course, while they can do so, not every advanced archmage necessarily will; it still depends on talent.

But creating spells seemed effortless for Ye Chui’s magic guide book. Additionally, his abilities as a summoner, believer, swordsman, and more had all strengthened.

Ye Chui brimmed with curiosity. What was this [Divine Guard Suit]? Opening the mall allowed buying items from unlocked resources with points? And [Thunder]? [Enchantment Xiu Xiu]?

Ye Chui was thrilled by his new capabilities. After the magic guide book upgraded, the games within remained open. He hurriedly switched to the game interface. The ongoing game was [Crown War]. Upon seeing the open interface, Ye Chui instantly understood what the [Games] configuration enhancement meant: previously unlocked games had a mosaic style, unclear visuals, but now with the upgrade, the graphics had transformed qualitatively into clear Q-version 2D style, bright and vibrant colours, even allowing clear distinction of his companions’ expressions.

At the same time, the squad that could previously hold only eight people had expanded to twelve.

Ye Chui was joyfully exploring the new features when a roar that shook heaven and earth suddenly resounded. The ground trembled faintly too. Ye Chui looked up hurriedly and saw the Tenth Prince charging in fury, his bodyguards and spirit-summoning priests close behind.

Spotting the Tenth Prince from the sky, Long Bao dove and spewed dragon flames at him.

The Tenth Prince roared at the heavens, raising one arm. A layer of hard shield instantly formed on it, blocking the dragon flames outright. In his other hand appeared a long spear, which he swung at the dragon in the sky.

Seeing the Tenth Prince appear, the Sixth Prince’s dejected expression lit up with delight. He knew his moment to shine had come. With a light whistle, he swung his longsword and blurred into a shadow charging the Tenth Prince, sword light dancing, killing intent surging… Then with a bang, the Tenth Prince swept him away with his spirit spear. With a crash, the Sixth Prince smashed into a large tree before halting his flight.

He was a genius swordsman of the Star Empire, but against the Tenth Prince, now enhanced like he had taken drugs, the gap was vast.

The Blue Knight followed with his spear thrust forward, blue sword energy swirling and twisting, the path of the twisted spear unyielding. Yet the Tenth Prince merely swung his spirit spear lightly, spear winds dotting the air. Even the Blue Knight’s twisted spear could not fully deflect these attacks. He cried out in pain a few times and slid back rapidly.

“Ji ji!” The Valkyrie Jiji swung her light sword and charged after, ready to strike the Tenth Prince.

“Ah!!!” The Tenth Prince roared at the Valkyrie, and with a pop, the adult Valkyrie’s body shuddered and shrank to toddler version. The little Valkyrie glanced at her body, flapped her tiny wings, turned, and fled. “Ji ji~~” Her voice carried a hint of a sob…

The Tenth Prince, fused with the ferocious spirit god, was indeed overwhelmingly powerful. He had even scared Jiji to tears…

Posli hurried to Ye Chui’s side. “Ye Chui, stop hesitating! Return the magic guide book to me. Only I can deal with him!”

Ye Chui glanced at Posli, a faint smile on his lips. He asked, “Posli, I invite you to join my team. Do you accept?”

“What?” Even with her sharp mind, Posli had not anticipated this team setup. She nodded hastily. “We are already on the same side, so of course I agree.”

With Posli’s words, one more figure appeared in the twelve-person squad on Ye Chui’s magic guide book game. The original eight-person squad had been full with Ye Chui’s group; now four slots remained, and Posli filled one.

Ye Chui pulled Posli into the squad as a final safeguard: as a team member, while in the secret realm, even if she reneged and attacked Ye Chui’s group, they would be immune to her damage. Team damage immunity came at the cost of points.

Ye Chui now had nearly fifty thousand points, so he lacked for none.

Confirming Posli had joined, Ye Chui nodded to Green.

Green hurriedly took out the magic guide book pendant, preparing to hand it to Posli. However, as soon as the pendant emerged, the magic guide book automated into a streak of light. With a flash of white, it merged into Posli’s body. Faint white light enveloped her, and she let out a soft moan, clearly absorbing the surging power from the magic guide book.

Long Bao attacked with flames from above, while the Blue Knight, Danni, Xilaisi, Jacob, and Guni assailed from all sides, temporarily entangling the Tenth Prince.

Ye Chui hurriedly checked his magic guide book, eager to unlock a new spell for attack, but his interest piqued greatly in the self-creation spell feature.

Opening the self-created spell app, Ye Chui quickly grasped the method.

For any archmage, creating a spell required three basics: comprehension, magical principles, and constraints.

Comprehension meant the archmage’s insights into the world’s phenomena, plainly put, deriving the spell’s form from observing natural operations. For example, witnessing a great river’s flow might inspire the advanced water spell [Rage of the Great River], manifesting as a torrent sweeping the heavens. Or standing at a northern snow mountain peak, seeing an ice river glide, could yield the advanced ice spell [Ice River Assault], forming an ice river from nothing to freeze all in its path.

Magical principles were the spell’s foundational magic concepts. Most advanced or intermediate spells built on low-level or basic ones; those basics were the principles, the spell’s core composition.

A simple example: the advanced wind spell [Wind Blade Barrage] consisted of countless low-level wind spells [Wind Blade]. Of course, an advanced spell was not just blasting multiple low-level ones rapidly, as that lacked power. Fusing them into an advanced spell required constraints.

Constraints, simply, were the costs of fusing low-level spells.

Advanced spells, and higher super spells, ultimate spells, or arcane spells, were not cast freely; they demanded payment. As the saying went, powerful spells have weaknesses, and that weakness was the cost of use.

Constraints varied in severity: some mere time, others life itself.

Comprehension, principles, constraints: these three were essential for creating spells.

After opening the self-created spell app, Ye Chui automatically comprehended the key points, insights ordinary archmages would need deep exploration to uncover. Knowing how to create spells, Ye Chui’s eyes lit up. The most vital part was comprehension: to create a spell, one needed a concept in mind for its form. Speaking of visual concepts…

Did the myriad skills from games in his previous life count?

Principles? As an all-element archmage, he mastered every spell type; no issue there.

Constraints were the hardest in spell creation, but Ye Chui’s iPad magic guide book’s self-created spell app targeted exactly that, posing no problem for him.

He glanced at the roaring Tenth Prince and licked his lips.

“I need a powerful attack spell now. Explosion spells pack the most punch, so I’ll create an explosion spell…” His eyes gleamed.

Beside him, the white light on Posli gradually faded. She took a deep breath, and a confident smile curved her cute face. With a light wave of her right hand, a magic guide book floated before her, nearly taller than a person!

Over one point five metres tall, nearly a metre wide, more than a foot thick, with a purple cover faintly showing a dancing maiden pattern. This was the Heavenly Maiden Phase magic guide book among the twelve phases; Posli would now inherit the title “Heavenly Maiden Phase.”

Green had guarded nearby, gaping in shock. He had been stunned by the Black Phase Attendant’s book before, but now realised it paled beside a phase archmage’s.

Posli smiled confidently, flipping open the book. Looking at the Tenth Prince, contempt flickered in her eyes. “Borrowing power from a fused spirit god is just crooked sorcery. Now let me end you!”

She felt elated now, eager to show Ye Chui her power, to make him see the gap between them. Him befriending her was his fortune.

As a phase archmage at the pinnacle, even freshly awakened and far from her peak, she far outstripped Ye Chui.

With this confidence and pride, Posli prepared her spell.

Yet at that moment…

Ye Chui’s body suddenly floated up, flying to Long Bao’s side. He then spread his limbs, floating in a spread-eagle pose in the air. With successive whooshes, cannon shells burst from his body one after another, precisely bombarding the Tenth Prince below.

These shells came from [Company Commander’s Italian Cannon], each powerful enough to breach a city wall. Now, blasts of this calibre erupted nonstop, followed by booming explosions encircling the Tenth Prince without cease.

The Blue Knight, Danni, Jacob, and the Sixth Prince, who had scrambled up and charged again, all leapt back to avoid the fallout. Their expressions matched Posli’s: utterly dumbfounded…

Hovering in the sky, Ye Chui shouted loudly:

“Heaven’s Justice Descends!”
