Code Mage Chapter 312

In the oasis, trees lay toppled everywhere, covered in black scorch marks. The forest floor was littered with desiccated corpses sprawled in disarray. The ground was riddled with deep gullies and cracks, along with a terrifying crater, the one Ye Chui had punched out. It served perfectly to bury those bodies. Yet, there were simply too many corpses, so in the end, Jacob used earth magic to dig several more craters, finally interring them all beneath the soil.

The Blood Scorpion tribe had come charging in with murderous intent, only to meet a gruesome end. Only the ferocious spirit god had escaped via the soul altar. On the Green Bay tribe’s side, just two unfortunate souls had been killed by mistake, with dozens more injured. Debbie had already summoned Afu’er and Leisha to help treat the wounded.

Ye Chui had recalled Long Bao into the magic guide book. Long Bao was now far stronger, with a greatly extended summoning duration. The rest time needed before the next summon had also shortened considerably. Long Bao had evolved from a mere impressive magical pet for show or as a mount into Ye Chui’s trump card.

Of course, what surprised Ye Chui most were the magic guide book’s many new functions now. They were full of delights, and he could not put it down. While everyone rested, he found a tree stump to sit on and flipped through the magic guide book. The open page was the newly unlocked [Shop] app. Ye Chui was browsing certain items on it.

Bo Si Li walked over to his side with a worried look. The massive magic guide book of the Xiang Wang magic tutor hovered beside her like a moving city wall. Her face showed concern, yet she also displayed keen interest in Ye Chui’s magic guide book. When Ye Chui glanced at her, she asked, “We must hurry to deal with the ferocious spirit god while he is weak and finish him off completely. Otherwise, who knows what other vile tricks he might have? Since you have the magic seal ring, let us waste no more time and set off at once.”

“But how do we get there quickly?” Debbie, overhearing from nearby, walked over and asked. “The Blood Scorpion tribe’s camp must be far away. They will surely have warriors guarding it. We should bring some Green Bay tribe members along. I just asked Kala. The sand people can train sand beasts as mounts. But where do we find so many sand beasts on short notice?”

“That is indeed a problem,” Bo Si Li said with a furrowed brow.

“No, this problem is easy to solve.” Ye Chui smiled at them. His eyes lingered on the magic guide book’s screen. In truth, he had been pondering this very issue since earlier.

The new magic guide book’s functions could solve it perfectly!

He paused, then continued, “We can fly there.”

“Fly there? Have Long Bao carry us?” Debbie asked curiously. “Though Long Bao has grown much larger, he cannot carry too many people at once.”

“No, we do not need Long Bao.” Ye Chui said mysteriously. He walked out of the oasis and cleared a space for everyone, preparing to summon something.

After the iPad upgrade, the shop had unlocked. The so-called shop contained items Ye Chui had unlocked from films and anime. So far, he had unlocked three works: Man vs Wild, the Fast and Furious series, and One Punch Man.

Certain items from these works could be bought with points in the shop: daily necessities, weapons, cars, even planes and spaceships. Of course, the spaceship from One Punch Man cost over a hundred million points, far beyond what Ye Chui could afford. But one plane was exactly what he needed right now.

In Fast and Furious 8, the black plane the villainous female boss rode in, that plane was no standard model. It had been modified for the film’s plot.

In Ye Chui’s shop, a luxury car cost just a thousand points. This plane cost twelve thousand points, within Ye Chui’s current means.

Items bought from the shop counted as summons. Even if destroyed, they could be resummoned after a while.

In this light, buying a plane would not only solve their immediate need but also greatly boost the prestige of their Anyi Magic Guild. With anticipation, Ye Chui clicked purchase. A strong wind blew up before him. An illusory shadow appeared, solidifying from faint to real. Soon, a massive plane stood right in front of Ye Chui.

Many in the oasis noticed the commotion and came out, gaping in stunned silence. Even his close companions, accustomed to Ye Chui’s endless stream of new abilities, were thoroughly shocked by this plane.

Bo Si Li stayed a bit calmer, but her small face still bore clear signs of astonishment. As Ye Chui was about to explain what it was called, Bo Si Li spoke first, “This, this is a flying magic vehicle, is it not?”

“Flying magic vehicle?” Ye Chui’s brow twitched as he looked at Bo Si Li.

Bo Si Li answered instinctively, “Magical creations left from the age of the gods. The magic guild preserves some of them. Some can even carry tens of thousands of people into the sky. They say the god of gods created them. Later generations have tried to replicate them but failed. You can summon such a thing?”

Carry tens of thousands into the sky, an aircraft carrier?

It seemed his predecessor had played on an even grander scale.

Yet Ye Chui liked the name flying magic vehicle. Calling it a plane in this world would feel too out of place. He nodded to Bo Si Li and said, “Yes, this is a flying magic vehicle. Though it has nothing to do with the god of gods. It is my magical creation. It can carry two hundred people at high speed. Of course, it requires magic power.”

This flying magic vehicle looked much like the black plane from the film, but only in appearance. It did not run on petrol but on magic power. It needed magic power to fly.

“You cannot handle that much magic consumption alone, right?” Debbie asked worriedly.

“The magic guild’s flying magic vehicles also consume magic power. They use magic stones containing magic as fuel,” Bo Si Li said to Ye Chui. “But magic stones are exceedingly rare, nearly extinct now. The magic guild has been researching ways to supply magic from people, though many issues remain.”

“Those issues are no problem for me.” Ye Chui smiled. “My flying magic vehicle can draw magic from anyone. Just find ten people with A-rank magic power to act as its source, and it can fly at full speed.”

Bo Si Li fell silent at once. In the age of the gods, the god of gods had pushed magic’s applications to their peak, creating many wondrous magical artefacts. After the gods fell, the use of magic guide books had essentially blocked humanity’s path to deeper understanding of magic. For thousands of years, the magic guild had tried to revive that era’s magical civilisation but always failed. Yet Ye Chui seemed utterly unbound by such limits.

This gave her a faint sense of inferiority for a moment. Then she recalled the new term Ye Chui had just mentioned and asked, “A-rank magic power, what does that mean?”

“It is the ranking from my magic guide book.” Ye Chui explained.

This was a new ability after the magic guide book’s upgrade. Before, it could detect others’ points. Now, upgraded, the detection of points had improved further, with more detailed methods.

Using the magic guide book’s camera for “detection”, Ye Chui could now see four values: magic power/sword aura, skills, experience, and overall points.

The first three were basic attributes, the last an overall rating.

Basic attributes ranked as F, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, and so on. Ye Chui had already scanned his companions. For example, Debbie now showed ASB180.

This meant Debbie’s magic power was A-rank, skills S-rank (able to summon legendary heroic spirits), experience B-rank, and overall points at 180.

The others were:

Leisha: BBB90

Green: CCB85

Gu Ni: SAB185

Xi Le Si: BBA125

Dai Ni: DAD100

Jacob: DAD105

Fifth Prince: CCB75

Sixth Prince: BBA120

Kun Lan: CCB70

Ming Yi: CCD65

Bo Si Li’s values were more unique: S.SSS.A1000+. This indicated her magic power at S-rank, skills at max SSS-rank, experience at A-rank, and overall rating over a thousand. Likely because Bo Si Li had just awakened, with her power still surging, a precise rating was not possible.

Debbie and the others’ points had nearly doubled since the Sword Burial Grounds, thanks to the many battles they had fought alongside Ye Chui. Yet Bo Si Li, the Xiang Wang heir, had only awakened less than an hour ago and already rated over a thousand points. It showed just how formidable the Xiang Wang was.

Notably, Ye Chui still could not detect his own points. But he guessed his magic power, skills, and experience were all S-rank, with an overall rating over 500.

“What an interesting detection method.” After Ye Chui explained the values, Bo Si Li nodded thoughtfully. The magic guild had its own ways to assess magic power, battle records, spells, and sword skills. But none were as precise as Ye Chui’s magic guide book, down to exact numbers.

“This thing can carry over two hundred people into the sky at once?” Debbie, unable to contain her curiosity, had already climbed inside the flying magic vehicle to inspect it. She poked her head out, puzzled. “But two hundred is still not enough, is it?”

“No, this flying magic vehicle is not just for flying.”

A profound expression crossed Ye Chui’s face. It felt like someone from a big city showing off high-tech gadgets to villagers in a remote hamlet. He smiled and said, “Before buying this flying magic vehicle, I also bought its accompanying arsenal.”

“Arsenal?” Green asked curiously.

Ye Chui nodded. In Fast and Furious 8, that plane came with a small armoury full of various weapons. Ye Chui had bought them all too. He climbed into the flying magic vehicle, found the arsenal, and took out a rifle.

Of course, though called a gun, under the magic modification rules, it had become a magical artefact. Infuse it with magic power, and it could fire attacks. Ye Chui demonstrated to the group. By inputting magic power, it could convert it directly into wind blade bullets, shooting them out. Bang bang bang. After a few shots, a small tree as thick as an arm snapped in half at the waist.

This was far more useful than the throwing spears the sand people often used.

The armoury also held things like bulletproof vests. These could turn ordinary sand people into super warriors.

A two-hundred-strong magically armed force would suffice!

Bo Si Li stood by, her worldview shattering as she sighed in disbelief, utterly speechless.

Ye Chui then had the Green Bay tribe’s sand warrior line up for his scans.

“I need to select two hundred of you to raid the Blood Scorpion tribe’s lair. Rest assured, with my magical weapons, your combat power will rise several times over. And those with A-rank or higher magic power can serve as the flying magic vehicle’s power source.”

No matter how strong the Blood Scorpion tribe was, they were mere native warriors.

Ye Chui’s people were now magically armed.
