The massive desert giant turtle continued moving steadily through the desert. It was truly enormous. Its back bore an entire oasis, where stone buildings peeked out from green forests. At the centre of the turtle’s back stood a towering grand hall. From high above, it resembled a bizarre horn sprouting from the sand turtle’s back.
Just as Ye Chui prepared to unleash a few rounds of nuclear flat heaven’s descent, the desert giant turtle, which had been crawling silently with its head lowered, suddenly raised its massive head. Its black eyes fixed on the flying magic vehicle in the sky. “Qua,” it opened its mouth. A slender, barbed snake-like tongue shot out abruptly, coiling towards the air.
Ye Chui stood in the cockpit. He could see everything below through the light screens. When he spotted the turtle’s tongue lunging like a striking serpent, his heart jolted. He quickly ordered Aipede to manoeuvre the flying magic vehicle aside. With a jolt, it evaded the terrifying snake head. Yet the tip of the snake head still grazed the left wing, tearing off a large chunk of black plating.
“Master, this thing’s tongue is extremely dangerous!” Aipede’s startled cry echoed in Ye Chui’s ears. Aipede was the intelligent life and self-awareness born from Ye Chui’s magic guide book. When Ye Chui summoned the flying magic vehicle, he had tasked Aipede with controlling the massive craft. To Aipede, this huge flying magic vehicle probably felt like its own body.
“Has the performance been affected?” Ye Chui asked hurriedly. The flying magic vehicle was set to launch missiles, but those missiles were magical creations, similar to Ye Chui’s [Explosion is Justice]. They required magic power charging first.
“No damage to the main wind-element power magic array. It is not an issue for now,” Aipede replied.
At that moment, Ye Chui watched as the desert giant turtle on the light screen let out a surprised “Eh” after its strike missed. It suddenly spewed countless wisps of blue mist from its mouth, rapidly enveloping itself. That blue mist seemed to be some defensive gas with extreme corrosiveness!
Though the Blood Scorpion tribe’s main camp was on the desert giant turtle’s back, Ye Chui had already noticed that not all Blood Scorpion tribespeople lived there. Countless people followed beside the giant turtle’s body. They would camp around it and were responsible for feeding the sand turtle on a daily basis. These were slave-like members of the Blood Scorpion tribe.
When the giant turtle exhaled the blue mist, those people panicked and hid. Some who could not dodge in time were engulfed by the blue fog and corroded into white skeletons in an instant.
Seeing this scene on the light screen, everyone’s faces in the cockpit filled with utter shock. Turtles seemed harmless and docile, yet this sand turtle was savagely ruthless. When enraged, it even killed its own people.
Excellent. Ye Chui nodded. Now, nuclear flattening it brought him no psychological burden at all.
“Master, the nuclear flat missiles are fully charged,” Aipede reported then. Missiles were just missiles, merely attack methods condensed from magic. They had no inherent name, but Ye Chui had just dubbed them nuclear flat.
“Good. Fire!” Ye Chui decided immediately.
…
Shortly before Ye Chui’s flying magic vehicle located the desert giant turtle.
In the secret chamber of the grand hall on the giant turtle’s back, the ferocious spirit god reformed his figure through the soul altar. His body was nothing like the imposing stature it had when possessing the tenth prince. He now resembled a withered old man, with a pale yellow, semi-transparent form. He sat weakly on a chair in the chamber. What made him utterly terrifying was that his body crawled with countless red scorpions. Those scorpions resembled maggots on a corpse, yet they had long fused with him as part of his power.
When the ferocious spirit god was still an ordinary undead spirit, he had encountered a Blood Scorpion nest. There, he luckily devoured the Blood Scorpion queen. Gaining the boost from the Blood Scorpion’s power allowed him to advance to spirit god. Afterwards, he obtained a sacred relic from a sand people tribe, the Book of the Dead. That book was a holy artefact from the undead summoners of old. Using it, he built the soul altar. Even in death, he could revive through the Book of the Dead.
The ferocious spirit god’s gaze shifted to the strange book on the stone table in the chamber. That was the Book of the Dead. His hand gently caressed its surface.
The Book of the Dead was a wondrous creation that could contain undead spirits. Any undead or spirit body could be stored within it. Moreover, as long as a spirit left its aura in the Book of the Dead, even if it dissipated, it could reform and revive through the book. This was the so-called soul altar. Soul altars existed in the outside world too, using sacrifices of objects bearing undead or spirit auras to preserve the soul. But the Book of the Dead’s power was beyond imagination. The book itself was a soul altar, requiring no additional rituals.
Yet each revival left the ferocious spirit god feeling as if part of his memory was missing. This sensation was unpleasant.
The ferocious spirit god thought of Ye Chui and Bo Si Li. Beyond bone-deep hatred, a faint trace of fear stirred. How had the Crown Battlefield admitted two such freaks?
Bo Si Li was a Xiang Wang. Her terrifying strength was no surprise. But what about that Ye Chui? He had heard from the tenth prince earlier how fearsome Ye Chui was. He had taken this young expert from the Star Empire quite seriously. Yet now he realised Ye Chui was several times more powerful than imagined. His intimidating presence even surpassed Bo Si Li’s.
“The tenth prince was my ideal host. He is dead now. I have two other princes in hand, but they are not suitable hosts. It seems I am fated to fail in this Crown Battlefield. I thought devouring the water spirit god would give me dominance here…” the ferocious spirit god muttered to himself. He then steeled his resolve, picked up the Book of the Dead, placed it reverently into a golden casket, and left the chamber.
Without a host, a spirit god’s power would wane. He needed to quickly select a new host from the two captured princes, then bide his time quietly to recover his strength.
Fortunately, the Blood Scorpion tribe’s main camp was on the back of this massive desert giant turtle. Even with Ye Chui’s heaven-defying abilities, finding the sand turtle’s location would not be easy.
Hiding here to recuperate for now would keep him safe.
A狰狞 cold smile twisted the ferocious spirit god’s semi-transparent, aged face, crawling with red scorpions. Besides, even if Ye Chui found this place, what could he do?
Remember, the desert giant turtle was a descendant of that beast god from the external magical beast clan. It was already a seventh-tier magical beast itself. Its size dwarfed Ye Chui’s summoned giant dragon. Add its terrifying defensive capabilities and that dreadful corrosive blue mist…
If Ye Chui came here, he would only suffer defeat and retreat.
Thinking this way, his current situation was still quite favourable.
Then…
“Boom!” “Boom!” Two terrifying roars echoed as the ground began to shake.
A piercing screech rang in his ears. It was the desert giant turtle’s agonised cry!
Gale-force winds howled. The ferocious spirit god’s illusory body nearly blew away. He saw surrounding buildings collapsing one after another. The grand hall’s tower, like a blade horn, sheared off halfway. The hard stone ground cracked apart. Blood surged ceaselessly from within. The surface was a layer of solid rock and soil. Beneath lay the desert giant turtle’s formidable shell. But now blood poured out… Had that attack just breached the desert giant turtle’s shell?
Two massive mushroom-shaped smoke clouds rose in his vision.
One at the giant turtle’s neck. He could see its thick neck nearly severed, blood gushing skyward like a rain of gore. The other mushroom cloud loomed over the giant turtle’s right forelimb. That area was utterly shattered. One turtle leg broken, shell fragments jutting from mangled flesh and mud. Cracks sprayed blood everywhere from there.
Scorching heat blazed. The oasis trees and plants on the giant turtle’s back were flung and charred to ash in an instant. Some Blood Scorpion sand people living in the turtle-back oasis screamed as they fled. Flames erupted on their bodies, a scene of utter misery. Many more had perished the moment the explosions hit.
The ferocious spirit god, who had lived for centuries, had never felt such shock.
Such… grievance.
“You, you are bullying people too much…”
…
The two nuclear flat magic missiles dispatched the desert giant turtle. Ye Chui had Aipede land in a flat sandy area nearby.
The flying magic vehicle’s cabin door slowly opened. The Green Bay warriors, looking somewhat pallid from the earlier turbulence, rushed down one after another. Most were sturdy folk, but sturdiness did not mean immunity to airsickness. A few even knelt and vomited on the spot. Ye Chui and the others followed closely.
“Charge the nuclear flat missiles first, in case of any surprises later,” Ye Chui said to Aipede. The flying magic vehicle would stay here for sure, but the missiles could preheat. If trouble arose, they could provide remote support.
“Yes, master,” Aipede replied.
By then, some Blood Scorpion tribe warriors had spotted Ye Chui’s group. They had endured the giant turtle’s corrosive venom earlier, and the two nuclear flat heaven’s descents had truly shattered their courage. Yet upon seeing Ye Chui and the others appear, they still swiftly gathered and charged with shouts. Their numbers reached at least two or three thousand.
As a major power second only to Divine Citizen City, the Blood Scorpion tribe indeed outnumbered the Green Bay tribe by a wide margin.
“Leave them to you,” Ye Chui said, patting Kala’s shoulder.
The Green Bay warriors, magically armed, numbered only two hundred. Facing two or three thousand Blood Scorpion warriors, this would have been dismissed as utter fantasy before. But now Kala nodded confidently. The rifle in his hands gave him immense courage.
Ye Chui then summoned Long Bao. He climbed onto Long Bao’s back with Debbie, Green, Dai Ni, Jacob, Bo Si Li, and the others. They soared directly over the Blood Scorpion warriors, heading straight for the giant turtle’s back.
In truth, with Long Bao’s current size, one blast of dragon flame could incinerate all those Blood Scorpion warriors. However… Green Bay and Blood Scorpion harboured a blood feud. Not long ago, the Blood Scorpion tribe had razed the Green Bay oasis, killing countless tribespeople. Now the Green Bay warriors needed this battle to vent their fury against the Blood Scorpions.
As the giant dragon took to the air, Ye Chui looked down. He saw the Blood Scorpion warriors at the forefront tumbling to the ground amid a hail of “bang bang bang” gunfire. Ye Chui shook his head. How could native warriors fight against magical armaments?
The giant dragon landed on the giant turtle’s back.
Ye Chui walked to Long Bao’s head. He gripped one of Long Bao’s horns with one hand and said to him, “This giant turtle should not be dead yet. Leave it to you. Devouring its magic core should greatly benefit your growth.”
Long Bao grinned in response. After Ye Chui jumped down from the dragon’s back, he took flight and charged towards the giant turtle’s massive head, now limply slumped against a sand dune.
Ye Chui surveyed the devastated turtle back. He checked the game map on his magic guide book, preparing to locate the ferocious spirit god.
“Eh?” Debbie suddenly exclaimed in surprise, eyeing a toppled pillar. When the others looked at her, she said, “This pillar is actually fused with gold! Quick, everyone, help me collect these things. We can keep recharging with gold now…”
