Debbie’s keen attitude towards gold stemmed not from greed, but because with gold, she could recharge to summon Gilga.
Gilga required gold to unleash his power. Ye Chui and Debbie had once discovered a large quantity of dragon blood stones, which could substitute for gold. However, after entering the secret realm, the dragon blood stones could not be retrieved, so Debbie had long been unable to summon Gilga. Yet now she had found gold here.
The secret realm differed from the outside world. Though trade existed here, it mostly involved bartering, with no currency in use. Gold held no value here. Indeed, there was scarcely any gold at all. Ye Chui had seen none during his time with the Green Bay tribe. But unexpectedly, the oasis buildings on the sand turtle’s back incorporated much gold!
That gold served mainly as decoration.
Debbie hurriedly summoned Green and Jacob to begin prying the gold fused into the stone pillars bit by bit.
Though Ye Chui knew she was not greedy, her plucking-every-feather-from-the-passing-goose manner still drew a wry smile from him. He thought for a moment, then said, “Bo Si Li, Jacob, Gu Ni, Ming Yi, eleventh prince, come with me to find the ferocious spirit god. Everyone else, stay here and help Debbie.”
No one objected to Ye Chui’s arrangements, so they set off at once. The giant turtle’s back spanned a vast area. With the shell cracked and blood gushing forth, the ground was nearly dyed red. They also had to tread carefully around the numerous gaping fissures. Along the way, Ye Chui’s group encountered some surviving Blood Scorpion tribespeople. Those living in the turtle-shell oasis were the tribe’s ruling class, with even more savage temperaments. Yet meeting Ye Chui’s group proved their misfortune; they were swiftly dispatched.
Just as Ye Chui reached the half-collapsed grand hall, a terrifying roar suddenly erupted. Ye Chui frowned and looked towards the sound’s source. It came from the giant turtle.
The giant turtle was gravely wounded and had fallen unconscious earlier. But when Long Bao went to seek its magic core, he roused it. As it bellowed, its massive head twisted around. Its eyes fixed on Ye Chui and the others. It seemed to know that Ye Chui was the culprit behind its dire state. Ignoring Long Bao’s assaults, it opened its mouth to reveal jagged fangs. Its nearly severed neck stretched long, lunging towards its own back to bite down. Blue mist spewed ceaselessly from its maw.
Bo Si Li quickly waved her hand, raising a pale blue ice shield before the group to block the blue mist’s advance. Long Bao unleashed a deafening roar. His enormous dragon claw seized the giant turtle’s neck, sending blood spraying. He spat dragon flame, scorching the huge head.
“This thing is not quite dead yet!” Ye Chui said in surprise.
“Master, the nuclear flat has locked on. Shall I fire one at its head?” Aipede’s voice echoed in Ye Chui’s mind.
“No need. I have a better way… Gu Ni, lend me the big knife.” Ye Chui said with a cold laugh. Through the blue ice crystal shield Bo Si Li had formed, he could see the giant turtle’s head snarling ferociously on the other side. Even facing Long Bao’s fearsome dragon flame, it thrashed relentlessly. This ancient-level savage magical beast would not die easily. To kill it, something ruthless was required.
Gu Ni handed Ye Chui the “knife forged by the gods”. The blade, which had appeared as a massive sword in her hands, shrank to an ordinary two-foot knife upon entering Ye Chui’s grasp. But then, as stirring music swelled, one of Ye Chui’s arms began to enlarge rapidly, turning gigantic. This time, Ye Chui underwent partial gigantification, with only one arm transforming.
The VIP knife in that giant arm also grew immensely huge. The terrifying great blade resembled a sharp metal tower rising into the air.
Hum,
As the massive blade sliced through the air, everyone seemed to hear a piercing whoosh. One slash cut across the giant turtle’s neck.
The next instant, blood gushed wildly.
Long Bao’s claws clamped the giant turtle’s head firmly, hoisting it into the sky.
Ye Chui’s forty-metre great knife had severed the giant turtle’s head with one stroke!
Such an injury left the giant turtle utterly lifeless.
Ye Chui switched off the music. His arm returned to normal. The forty-metre great knife shrank back to an ordinary blade.
Ye Chui, having dealt with the giant turtle, meant to return the VIP knife to Gu Ni. But suddenly, he received a message from the iPad magic guide book.
Alert: The knife forged by the gods has upgraded to the divine blade. Five more uses, and it will upgrade to the god and demon’s sorrow (ultimate form).
“Hm? This knife is about to max out?” Ye Chui rejoiced.
Though upgrading the VIP knife required accumulating uses, those uses counted as experience values. Killing ordinary small animals or beasts counted as one use each. But for sand people warriors or magical beasts, uses tallied in dozens or even hundreds. The giant turtle had just been slain by Ye Chui with this knife. Killing a seventh-tier magical beast like that likely granted over ten thousand uses at once. It propelled the VIP knife from its previous state to the knife forged by the gods. One more level, and it would reach max, becoming the ultimate form, the god and demon’s sorrow.
That name… it sounded utterly badass, did it not?
The desert giant turtle was a seventh-tier magical beast after all. Ordinary blades could not pierce its hide. Even if Ye Chui gigantified, without a sufficiently powerful knife, he could not behead it in one stroke. This highlighted the VIP knife’s might. Now evolved into the divine blade, the VIP knife’s appearance had changed again, becoming even cooler. The blade was hollowed out, etched with intricate, profound patterns.
Bo Si Li nearly pressed her eyes to Ye Chui’s knife, examining the wondrous weapon. She exclaimed, “What on earth is this weapon? It seems to have changed form from before. Such power… How did you obtain a weapon this mighty? You… how many more secrets are you hiding?”
Ever since Ye Chui’s magic guide book upgraded, Bo Si Li had repeatedly experienced worldview-shattering shocks.
Ye Chui smiled without answering Bo Si Li. He casually returned the VIP knife to Gu Ni. “Never mind that for now. Let us continue searching for the ferocious spirit god.”
“…”
Long Bao was digging into the giant turtle’s head to extract the magic core. Ye Chui’s group soon reached the grand hall on the giant turtle’s back. Several robed figures, like priests, burst out in panic. One was actually a spirit-summoning priest. The Blood Scorpion tribe had ten spirit-summoning priests in total. Ye Chui had eliminated three when he used Black Mountain to destroy one of their oasis outposts. The remaining seven had been drained of flesh and blood by the ferocious spirit god in the earlier siege on Ye Chui and the others. Yet even in death, spirit-summoning priests’ undead spirits returned to the Blood Scorpion tribe’s grand hall. Through spirit descent rituals, new spirit-summoning priests emerged.
The one before them was a priest who had only just received an undead spirit.
Upon seeing Ye Chui and the others, he hesitated briefly. A spirit armour manifested over his body. Then he roared and charged. But Gu Ni dispatched him with one slash. After evolving into the divine blade, this knife’s power had surged.
Ye Chui glanced at the approaching grand hall, pondering his next move. Suddenly, a plump figure scrambled out hurriedly. At the exit, he tripped and fell. When he clambered up again, he spotted Ye Chui and the others outside. Joy lit the fat man’s face at once.
“Mr Ye Chui, you… it is you. Quick, save me… I do not want to be emperor any more. I pledge allegiance to the thirteenth prince. Please save me…” As he shouted this, he glanced fearfully behind him and stumbled towards Ye Chui’s group.
Whether from exhaustion or terror, he collapsed to his knees before Ye Chui.
Seeing this fat man, Ye Chui felt somewhat speechless. This was the rice bucket prince, the second prince.
Evidently, after entering the secret realm, the second prince had been captured by the Blood Scorpion tribe and brought here. His guards had likely perished long ago. At the same time, with the second prince’s words, Ye Chui’s magic guide book received an alert. He had made another prince submit and thus earned a five-thousand-point reward!
Ye Chui ignored the rice bucket for now. He raised his head and looked into the grand hall’s depths.
A small figure emerged from within.
It was an eight-year-old child, the eleventh prince.
But now his face bore a cold, sinister hue. His complexion showed a blood-red tint. The ferocious spirit god’s spirit armour floated over his body. Having fled back via the soul altar, the ferocious spirit god had chosen the eleventh prince as his new host!
“Ye Chui, you killed my mother. I must avenge her…” he said in a somewhat deranged tone, slowly approaching.
Ye Chui’s brows furrowed slightly. He knew the ferocious spirit god preferred possessing princes whose bloodlines matched their temperament. The tenth prince’s cruelty made him the ideal host. The eleventh prince was just a tender child, while the second prince was a wastrel. Neither suited. But earlier, in desperation, the ferocious spirit god had no choice but to select the eleventh prince. He had deliberately deceived the boy, claiming his mother died at Ye Chui’s hands, to stir up rage and savagery, negative emotions that enabled successful possession.
Thus, the eleventh prince now harboured seething hatred towards Ye Chui.
This posed a tricky situation for Ye Chui.
Though the eleventh prince’s mother had not truly died by Ye Chui’s hand, she had perished somewhat for his sake. Before dying, she had entrusted Ye Chui to rescue her son… Now that the ferocious spirit god had possessed the eleventh prince, Ye Chui faced a true dilemma!
