Code Mage Chapter 384

In the countless duels that had taken place upon the stage of the Beast Garden over hundreds of times, this spatial world had proven vast and extraordinarily resilient. Turtle-type magical beasts were renowned for their defence, and the Chaos Turtle, standing at the very pinnacle of magical beasts, possessed defences that could only be described as peerless. It could effortlessly withstand attacks from Prime Minister-level magisters.

When two experts fought upon its back, it sustained no damage whatsoever. On the contrary, it could even gain insights into power from their clash. This was precisely why it permitted human experts to battle atop its shell.

Yet permission to fight did not mean it would calmly accept having every single attack directed straight into its shell. Thus it grew furious. As a supremely transcendent existence, it cared nothing for how exalted a Prime Minister’s Magister might be, nor how unstoppable the Omnimancer currently appeared.

Since you show me such disrespect, do not blame me for being impolite!

For the first time in thousands of years, true anger was provoked it. Its eyes opened in the sky of the Beast Garden.

Outside, every spectator felt their bodies tremble uncontrollably. The Beast God’s pressure seemed to pierce through the screen itself, causing everyone to stiffen instinctively. In their hearts they marvelled: Ye Chui and Boslili had actually provoked the wrath of the Beast God. How would this end?

Prince Geller’s face filled with worry. Sudden understanding dawned. He turned with an ugly expression toward Debbie, who was currently sitting and eating with the Whatever Goes Magic Guild members. He asked angrily, “From the very start, Ye Chui’s real target was the Beast God, wasn’t it? He… he wants to destroy the Beast Garden!?”

Debbie was stuffing honey-glazed roast meat into her mouth, eyes wide as she stared at the screen. Hearing Prince Geller, she nodded reflexively, then hurriedly shook her head, swallowed, and denied, “How could that be? Little Seven, you’re overthinking it…”

Your lying really needs work…

Prince Geller ignored her. His expression was exceedingly complicated. He truly had not considered this possibility before. No matter how fearsome Ye Chui’s talent for causing trouble, he had never imagined Ye Chui would actually try to kill the Beast God. Had he realised earlier, he would certainly have stopped him!

The Beast God’s power was terrifying. Most terrifying of all was that Ye Chui and Boslili were currently inside the Beast Garden, its domain. No matter how strong they were, how could they possibly defeat it on its own territory?

Feeling the Beast God’s pressure, Ye Chui and Boslili both halted. They looked up with some alarm at the two suns in the sky. At this moment they were certain: the Beast God’s strength was in no way inferior to the demon they had encountered in the secret realm.

Back then, Ye Chui had relied on [Time Gap] to seal that demon, then used the Elven Queen to absorb it. But now they stood upon the Beast God’s very body. The same method could not be used. How were they supposed to deal with such a mighty existence?

The two fell silent for a moment. Then their figures reappeared within the screen’s view.

They deliberately returned to the visible area so the outside spectators could hear their conversation.

“Our duel must not be interrupted by anything!” Ye Chui declared to Boslili, face full of battle spirit.

“Today I must settle things with you once and for all, Omnimancer. Either you die or I do. I fight for the honour of the Magic Guild. You injured Krian; I must seek justice for him!” Boslili proclaimed loudly, appearing utterly solemn and earnest.

“Our duel is sacred. It must continue. Nothing can interrupt it!” Ye Chui continued.

“Therefore…”

Below the sky screen, the spectators listened. They could feel how seriously both took the duel. One fought for honour, the other simply to fight. Nothing could stop them. If anything dared interrupt their sacred duel, they would surely be furious. They would do anything to protect it.

Therefore…

Boslili suddenly turned and unleashed a powerful ice spell at one of the crimson suns: Super Ice Magic 【Ice Queen’s Breath】!

Ye Chui also turned, scattering a large handful of gold coins from his [storage space] into the air. With a flick of his right fingers, the coins became a golden beam that blasted toward the other sun: 【One Hundred Gold Coins Golden Super Railgun】!

One blue, one gold. Two terrifying spells struck the crimson suns in an instant!

Those suns were the eyes of the Chaos Turtle.

Their sacred duel could not be interrupted. Since the turtle dared pressure them in anger, the two combatants burning with righteous indignation decided to deal with the turtle first, then resume the duel.

Perfectly logical.

No problem at all!

Amid the stunned, slack-jawed gazes of the spectators, Ye Chui and Boslili shot upward into the sky after their “glare at you” attacks.

In order to duel fairly, they resolutely joined forces to first eliminate the Beast God that had disturbed them!

Their devotion to the duel was truly touching.

Of course…

A few sharp-eyed individuals were already inwardly cursing in frustration or rage. From the very beginning these two had been aiming for the Beast God, hadn’t they? Definitely. Using the duel as a pretext to attack the venue itself, and acting the part so convincingly that no one could find fault!

It was outrageously fake, yet just like the special-effects blockbusters from Ye Chui’s previous life, who cared about plot holes or logical flaws? As long as the effects were spectacular, the whole way through, high-energy and thrilling, who would nitpick the idiotic plot? Ye Chui and Boslili’s battle was undeniably magnificent and earth-shaking. That was enough. Though some critics loved to pick faults and a few saw the hidden truth, the vast majority would offer sincere admiration for this duel.

In the end, the Magic Guild’s honour was merely face in the eyes of most people. Now face had been preserved. Boslili could righteously declare she had defended the Guild’s honour!

Next came war! War! War!

“You despicable humans, I will never forgive you!!!” The Beast God’s roar nearly shattered the eardrums of the outside spectators. Even those waiting in the streets heard the terrifying voice clearly.

Ye Chui and Boslili could no longer be seen on the sky screen, but the constantly flashing sky testified to how dreadful the battle of two versus Beast God truly was.

Crash.

The stone statue floating in mid-air suddenly cracked. The fissures grew larger and denser until, with a great clatter, it completely shattered. The statue that connected to the Beast Garden world had collapsed under the strain of the battle within.

The sky screen vanished with it.

The statue was the link between the Beast Garden and the outside world. Its destruction meant the gate to the Beast Garden was broken!

The spectators were horrified. Some marvelled at Ye Chui and Boslili’s strength and courage; others worried for their safety.

Prince Geller rushed to the Jores clan leader, grabbing his arm and demanding, “Quickly re-establish the portal so we can see what is happening inside!”

“If anything happens to Miss Boslili, your family will face the Magic Guild’s wrath!” the Black Prime Minister snarled coldly as he stormed over.

The Jores clan leader’s face was deathly pale, a mixture of rage, grievance, vindictive satisfaction, and terror. He was furious at Ye Chui and Boslili’s outrageous behaviour, aggrieved at his own innocence, secretly pleased that they would die under the Beast God’s anger, and terrified that the magical beast family line might end here. Trembling, he said, “The contract between the Beast God and the Jores family is dominated by Lord Beast God. The connection is one-way. We cannot open the portal ourselves…”

He paused, face twitching, unsure whether to feel joy, sorrow, or fear: “Ye Chui and Miss Boslili… will be trapped in that world forever by the Beast God. They are finished!”

Prince Geller’s face darkened with fury. He quickly ordered several black-armoured guards waiting in a corner of the courtyard, “Go, summon every high-level space magister in the imperial capital!”

The guards hurried off.

Prince Geller shot the Jores clan leader a cold glare. The Black Prime Minister regarded him with equal iciness.

In truth, the Jores clan leader was rather pitiable. He had appeared for so long without even a proper name, clearly the complete victim, yet now he had to bear unbearable anger and pressure. He seemed to age decades in an instant and collapsed to the ground.

The surrounding people whispered among themselves, expressions filled with astonishment. No one had ever imagined the duel would end like this.

Prince Geller returned worriedly to Debbie and the others. He saw Debbie staring at the place where the statue had crumbled, head tilted, seemingly lost in thought. Perhaps she was grieving or worried?

He approached, intending to comfort Sister Debbie. But just as he reached the table he heard Debbie suddenly turn to Green and say, “I’ve thought about it. I’ll have another piece of honey-glazed roast meat. A little fennel, some sour vine leaves, and another cup of milk tea. Lemon flavour.”

“Oh, right away, Miss Debbie.” Green immediately began pulling things from his storage space.

Prince Geller: “…”

Fine. Ye Chui definitely still has something up his sleeve…

Inside the Beast Garden world, two figures plummeted from the sky. The force of their fall was so great that the ground beneath them shattered, forming two huge craters.

Ye Chui and Boslili crawled out of their respective pits. They looked slightly weary, yet their eyes still burned with fighting spirit. Boslili glanced around and said to Ye Chui, “The spatial gate has shattered. The outside can no longer see us.”

Ye Chui had already felt the spatial array’s aura vanish. He wiped sweat from his forehead and looked upward.

Unlike other dimensional spaces he had experienced, the Beast Garden’s sky was not a dull grey rag. It was clear and bright, blue sky and white clouds visible. At this moment, two crimson suns glared down imperiously. Between them, one could faintly discern an enormous, terrifying head with a gaping maw lined with sharp fangs.

This was the true form of the Chaos Turtle, the enraged Beast God.

Ye Chui and Boslili’s combined assault had injured it slightly, but far from gravely.

The Chaos Turtle possessed the most colossal body and supreme defence among magical beasts. In the ancient era its name had not been “magical turtle” but… Primordial Chaos Giant Turtle, a turtle capable of swimming through chaos itself.

Both Ye Chui and Boslili were already extraordinarily powerful, yet defeating it remained no easy task.

“Ignorant humans, you have thoroughly enraged me!” A voice like muffled thunder crashed down from above. It let out a terrifying roar.

The earth quaked once more. A rumbling came from all directions, the sound of countless footsteps. Every surviving magical beast upon the turtle’s shell had been summoned, forming a horrific beast tides charging toward Ye Chui and Boslili.

Countless beasts arrived in the blink of an eye.

Ye Chui merely gave a cold smile and tapped his iPad grimoire.

“Longbao, these fellows are all yours!”

“ROAR—”

Longbao unfurled his wings above Ye Chui.

At this moment Longbao had grown enormous. Though still not comparable to the Chaos Turtle, the unique draconic bloodline within him had further awakened. With his mighty roar, overwhelming dragon might descended. The charging beasts instinctively halted. Lower-rank beasts prostrated themselves instinctively. Only a few rank-five and rank-six beasts managed to remain standing, yet they too trembled uncontrollably.

“A dragon… Black-Gold Flame Dragon… it’s you!!!” The Chaos Turtle let out a terrified bellow. It recognised Longbao, the God of All Beasts. That colossal head hovering in the sky seemed to shrink back unconsciously.

Ever since Ye Chui had awakened him, Longbao’s consciousness had been incomplete, his memories fragmented. He raised his massive draconic head, looking around and then at the gigantic head in the sky, as though remembering something.

“…You’re that little turtle I caught from the Chaos Sea all those years ago? Well, well, fancy still being alive.” Longbao sounded rather pleasantly surprised.

The colossal head in the sky shuddered, seemingly recalling certain terrifying memories.

“Longbao, you know him?” Ye Chui asked in surprise.

Longbao’s huge head nodded. “I remember now… This fellow is one of the rare variant magical beasts. I picked it up back then, fed it plenty of good things, planning to make it the guardian beast of the divine domain. But when the Twilight of the Gods came, it burrowed straight into chaotic space and fled. The little coward. Never thought it would hide until now.”

“The gods had fallen. The magical beasts born of magical elements grew supremely powerful. I was simply not something you could oppose. What was wrong with me fleeing…” The Chaos Turtle seemed to calm slightly. It realised that the dragon who had left it with many humiliating memories now possessed only a fragment of his former power, far from the majesty and might he once held as God of All Beasts.

It immediately let out a狂 ecstatic roar: “God of All Beasts, you fell back then! You have recovered only a sliver of power… Excellent! If I absorb your dragon soul, I can heal my wounds and even achieve dragonification directly!!!”

Longbao flew into a draconic rage: “You’re still coveting this dragon’s essence? Let me tell you, this dragon will never yield to you!”

Ye Chui suddenly couldn’t help interrupting: “Wait… what does Longbao mean by ‘dragon… essence’?”

“HAHAHA—” Maniacal laughter rained from the sky. The colossal head began to shrink, melting like a candle until it vanished. Thick mist appeared before Ye Chui’s vision. Within the mist, a petite human figure gradually formed.

The figure slowly flew toward Ye Chui, Boslili, and Longbao.

It grew clearer.

It was… a girl who looked only fourteen or fifteen!

And an extremely cute one at that!

Powerful magical beasts could assume human form. As a peak rank-nine existence, the Chaos Turtle could naturally do so. Yet the human form it chose…

Longbao lowered his head and roared. Dragon breath snorted from his nostrils. He said, “This Chaos Turtle is female… Back then she nearly seduced me into producing little dragon-turtle babies with her…”

Ye Chui and Boslili: “…”

Holy crap, how can such a cute girl possibly be a turtle!?
