Ye Xuan gave a cheeky grin. It wasn’t entirely out of the question.
At that moment, Su Xiaomei suddenly said, “Master?”
Ye Xuan looked at her. She smiled faintly. “May I learn sword cultivation from you?”
Ye Xuan nodded. “Of course! But do you actually like swords?”
Su Xiaomei thought about it, then answered, “I’m willing to try anything.”
Ye Xuan laughed. “Good!”
He turned to Old Chi and smiled. “Senior, to be honest, I am currently fighting against divine spirits, so I need your help.”
Old Chi nodded. “Without your assistance, I would have remained trapped there forever by the Spirit of the Universe. Since you freed me, I will naturally help you.”
Ye Xuan nodded. “Many thanks!”
Old Chi laughed. “No need to stand on ceremony!”
Ye Xuan gave a slight nod, then took Old Chi and Su Xiaomei with him and vanished.
Guanxuan Universe.
Instead of returning to the academy, Ye Xuan went straight into the little pagoda. The moment he arrived, Qin Guan appeared before him. Just as he was about to speak, she grabbed his arm. “Come with me!”
With that, she pulled him away and they disappeared.
A short while later, Qin Guan brought Ye Xuan to a mountain range. Within it, he discovered several hundred thousand people.
Ye Xuan looked at Qin Guan in surprise. “These are?”
Qin Guan smiled. “My research team.”
Ye Xuan shook his head with a laugh.
She led him towards a distant high tower. The structure rose nearly a million zhang, piercing deep into the starry sky. Its base covered millions of zhang; it was truly spectacular.
The entire tower was covered in all manner of mysterious runes.
Ye Xuan looked at Qin Guan. “This is?”
Qin Guan said seriously, “The Heaven-Reaching Tower.”
Ye Xuan’s brows furrowed. “Heaven-Reaching Tower?”
She nodded. “Yes. Didn’t we talk about this before? In the war against those divine spirits, if we cannot reach their world, we will always be on the defensive. So ever since then, I’ve had my people researching how to get to the True World.”
Ye Xuan said gravely, “Don’t tell me you’ve already made a breakthrough.”
Qin Guan blinked. “We’ve made a tiny bit of progress.”
Ye Xuan froze.
A tiny bit?
He had to admit, he was genuinely shocked.
Ridiculous.
Even the Spirit of the Universe hadn’t been able to do it.
Yet this rich lady had actually managed it?
Qin Guan said, “Let’s go!”
As she spoke, a teleportation array appeared beneath their feet. In the next instant, they vanished and reappeared at the Void Battlefield.
Qin Guan spread her palm. The little pagoda appeared in her hand. She smiled. “Little Pagoda, release the Heaven-Reaching Tower!”
The pagoda replied, “Got it!”
A dazzling golden beam shot out. In a flash, the Heaven-Reaching Tower materialised in the distant starry sky.
Qin Guan brought Ye Xuan atop the tower. She gazed deep into the cosmos and said softly, “I need to run an experiment.”
Ye Xuan asked, “How?”
Qin Guan explained, “When their teleportation passage opens again, the moment it appears, I will use this formation to forcibly link to their channel.”
Ye Xuan hurriedly asked, “Will that let us enter the True World?”
Qin Guan shook her head. “I’m not sure. As long as we can connect to their passage, this Heaven-Reaching Tower will immediately activate and begin analysing their teleportation array. Once all the data is transmitted back, we’ll know the differences between our side and theirs. Then we can replicate a special teleportation channel suited to our universe.”
Ye Xuan was stunned.
Replicate?
Qin Guan continued, “The instant their passage opens, we’ll rush inside. You protect me while I operate the tower.”
Ye Xuan nodded. “All right!”
Now they just had to wait.
Only someone from the True World could open that passage.
Ye Xuan looked at Qin Guan and sighed inwardly.
He had to admit, this woman was incredible. He still remembered Qing’er once saying that Qin Guan’s knowledge surpassed even Sister Nian’s.
If they really succeeded, that would genuinely be countering dimensions.
Countering dimensions!
He didn’t fully understand what it meant, but from the Spirit of the Universe’s words, it was clearly something extraordinarily heaven-defying.
Only a handful of people in existence could do it.
Qin Guan went on, “As you said before, if we cannot reach their world, we will always be passive and we will never beat them. So we must find a way to get there. Otherwise, we can never win this war.”
Ye Xuan nodded. “Exactly.”
Qin Guan smiled. “Now we can only wait for them to come.”
Ye Xuan gave a small nod. He glanced around. The Void Battlefield had already recovered; starlight glittered everywhere, perfectly serene.
Qin Guan suddenly said, “Actually, I’ve been thinking of going home for a visit.”
Ye Xuan looked at her. “Back to the Milky Way?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
Ye Xuan laughed. “I’ve heard your home is fun. When the time comes, I’ll go with you.”
Qin Guan nodded. “Good.”
She glanced at him. “If one day you achieve godhood, will you…”
Ye Xuan shook his head. “I won’t.”
Qin Guan smiled. “Do you even know what I was going to say?”
Ye Xuan nodded. “If I achieve godhood, I still won’t lose my humanity. I may become detached from many things, but the people I care about will always be the people I care about. The ultimate reason I cultivate is not for immortality or to be unrivalled. I just want to protect those close to me. If achieving godhood required sacrificing them, then that would no longer be me.”
Qin Guan gave a soft smile. “Very good.”
Ye Xuan sighed quietly. “Actually, I’m under a lot of pressure too.”
Qin Guan laughed. “The divine spirits?”
Ye Xuan shook his head. “That’s only part of it.”
Qin Guan grew curious. “Only part? Then what’s really weighing on you?”
Ye Xuan thought about it, then said, “Think about it. My dad is invincible, my little sister is invincible, my uncle is invincible. Only I’m not invincible right now. Don’t you think that puts enormous pressure on me?”
Qin Guan blinked and said nothing.
Ye Xuan continued, “But that’s not even the worst part. Do you know what the worst part is?”
Qin Guan shook her head. “No.”
Ye Xuan said with utmost seriousness, “I’m terrified that one day my son will also turn out invincible. Then the whole family will be invincible except me. Where would I put my face then?”
Qin Guan blinked again. “Little Xuanxuan, who exactly are you going to have this son with?”
Ye Xuan shook his head. “No idea! Maybe the owner of the Avenue Brush already has someone in mind.”
Qin Guan pressed her lips together in a smile. “You’re such a rascal. Whoever ends up having your child is truly unlucky.”
