But Charlie wade had his own considerations.
He said, “You can see they aren’t afraid of the police at all. In fact, they’re hoping the police will arrest them, because that would make them look fearless and righteous. The moment they walk out of the police station they’ll be heroes to the world. We can’t give them that opportunity.”
He paused briefly, then continued, “Personally, I think the best solution right now is to make them disgrace themselves in public, so that from now on they can’t hold their heads up, and wherever they go they’ll be like rats in the street that everyone wants to beat.”
“That makes sense,” Helena said with a small nod, then asked, “So what good idea do you have, Mr Wade?”
Charlie wade replied, “Split them from within. Make the dogs bite each other.”
With that, he quietly channelled a trace of spiritual energy into the two men who had been discussing Ji Xiaomeng earlier. Along with the spiritual energy, he planted a strong psychological suggestion.
The suggestion was simple: the more Ji Xiaomeng jumped around and stole the spotlight, the more unbearable it would feel to them. They would be willing to hurt themselves eight hundred times if it meant dragging her down a thousand times.
As the powerful suggestion took effect, the man who knew most about Ji Xiaomeng’s background glared at her while she waved her arms and shouted in the crowd. Gritting his teeth, he said to his companion, “Damn it, letting a lying bitch like her hog the limelight is worse than killing me!”
His companion nodded vigorously in full agreement. “We’re all out here protesting. Why should she get all the attention? If we don’t expose her in public I’ll never swallow this insult!”
“You’re right!” the man snapped coldly. “There’s no way we’re letting her come out on top!”
At that moment Ji Xiaomeng had no idea that people on her own side were about to stab her in the back. She was still drunk on the thrill of standing on the moral high ground and attacking others. Seeing the old lady lower her head and sob silently, she pressed on relentlessly. “I think the biggest problem with human development so far is that we love making other people or other species pay for our selfish desires. If humans cut down on unnecessary travel, especially unnecessary transoceanic flights, many birds could avoid being hit by planes, and many animals and plants would suffer far less from global warming. So why not stay at home with your husband instead of coming all this way alone and then rushing back in a panic?”
The old lady, her heart breaking, cried, “I’m old. I never wanted to travel this far! It’s just that my children all have jobs and no one to look after their kids, so I came alone to help them…”
Ji Xiaomeng snorted coldly. “Then why don’t they hire a local nanny? That would avoid polluting the environment and create a local job, and you could stay in China to look after your husband. Wouldn’t that be killing three birds with one stone?”
The old lady choked out, “Their income here isn’t high and they’re still paying off the mortgage. They really can’t afford a full-time nanny!”
Ji Xiaomeng sneered disdainfully. “If they don’t have the financial means, they should work hard and earn money. Why have children at all? Having children and then being unable to look after them is irresponsible to the children, irresponsible to their parents, and even more irresponsible to society! People without any sense of responsibility can’t possibly contribute anything to society. Staying in a welfare paradise like Northern Europe, they can only become parasites!”
The old lady clutched her chest, wanting to speak, but all that came out were sobs. In the end she could only collapse to the ground and weep bitterly.
Just as Ji Xiaomeng was feeling immensely pleased with herself, a furious roar suddenly came from behind her: “Ji Xiaomeng, I can’t bloody watch this any longer. You’ve gone way too far!”
