The black-gold flame dragon, a towering figure like a small mountain, circled above Pirate Bay. Its black-and-gold body instinctively radiated a murderous aura. It spread its wings, opened its terrifying maw, and with a deafening roar of “ROAR——”, its mouth resembled a cracked lava volcano. Torrents of flame poured down, completely engulfing the frozen undead monk greatship below.
In an instant, the greatship was reduced to ashes.
Like the undead monks themselves, their ships were cursed. They appeared utterly dilapidated, yet retained the same properties as their crew. No matter how broken they looked, they could still sail the seas and break through waves. But under Dragon Bao’s Dragon Rock bombardment, the ship swiftly burned to cinders. Only a vague silhouette remained. Even if it could technically still sail, it could no longer carry a single crew member.
The undead monk crew aboard surged off the burning vessel. Their bodies too turned to flying ash beneath Dragon Bao’s fierce flames.
Dragon Bao’s black-gold dragonflame was a terrifyingly destructive fire. Even undead spirits suffered partial wounds when burned by it.
However, the undying nature of the monks meant that turning to ash barely affected them at all. Instead, it only further aroused their ferocious instincts.
From the pirate ships outside Pirate Bay, even more undead monks witnessed Dragon Bao dominating the sky.
There were dozens of greatships in total, belonging to the three cursed major pirate fleets. Because large parts of the bay’s waters were frozen, they could not sail directly inside. One by one, the ferocious undead monks leapt from their vessels and charged towards Pirate Bay. They scrambled onto the icy path that Ye Chui had created with his frost magic, cold and cruel sneers on their hideous faces, lunging murderously towards Ye Chui’s group.
Ye Chui and his companions stepped onto the ice, slowly advancing towards the approaching undead monks.
The flames spewing from the black-gold flame dragon illuminated the night sky, casting their shadows long and far.
Ye Chui’s party numbered only a few, yet they now faced an endless undead army of unknown size in direct combat.
Witnessing this scene, the pirates on the shore looked shocked. These pirates were despicable by nature, scum who would betray anyone for profit. That was the law of pirate survival. But now, with the undead monks attacking in a clear attempt to wipe out Pirate Bay entirely, Ye Chui’s group stood alone against them. If Ye Chui failed, the pirates would inevitably face the full onslaught of the undead horde.
This was a matter of life and death. They could no longer simply stand by and watch.
“The survival of Pirate Bay is at stake. We must fight together!”
“Everyone charge! I’ve heard these undead monks cannot appear in daylight. Dawn is almost here. If we just hold out a little longer, we win!”
“Defend Pirate Bay!”
Led by a few voices, the pirates erupted with sudden fervour. They prepared to mobilise fully and follow Ye Chui’s group against the undead army.
At that moment, Stari, who had just rushed out of the Rose Hotel, reached the shore.
He had learned from Kaliya that Irabesha had been abducted and was frantic with worry. Upon seeing the situation, he immediately drew his weapon, raised it high, and stepped boldly onto the frozen sea. Heroic tales he had heard since childhood seemed to echo in his ears. To rally the other pirates to fight alongside him, he shouted, “Pirates, today we must stand united! Even if we die, we’ll drag the undead monks down with us! For glory, for our home, charge!”
With that slightly hoarse roar, Stari charged forward alone.
And then…
He was the only one from the shore who actually charged. The other pirates stayed put, merely shouting and shaking their heads.
In truth, if Stari had not rushed out, the pirates might genuinely have joined the fight out of mortal fear. But his speech instantly cooled their rare burst of hot-blooded impulse: Even if we die? For glory? For our home? Bloody hell, they were pirates! When did pirates ever care about glory or a home? Dragging enemies down with them? Not a chance…
As Stari charged passionately onto the ice, countless undead monks surged towards Ye Chui’s group from ahead.
Seeing the monks, a cold smile appeared on Ye Chui’s face. These terrifying cursed pirates were indeed troublesome, but once you knew how to counter them, what was there to fear? With several heavy thuds, strange magical constructs suddenly appeared in front of Ye Chui.
They were speakers.
Of course, these speakers had been magically modified and should now be called large-scale magical sound constructs. Their exchange price was not high, originating from the Fast & Furious world Ye Chui had unlocked. Magical sound constructs could greatly amplify sound and also slightly enhance background music effects.
In Ye Chui’s castle, every morning workout used one large magical sound construct to boost the punch BGM.
Now several large magical sound constructs were aimed at the charging undead monks. Ye Chui smiled faintly at his companions. “Cover your ears.”
Debbie, Lesha, and Green immediately clamped their hands tightly over their ears. Turtle Bao, holding Celty’s head, simply placed Celty on the ground and covered his own ears, prompting Celty to wail, “What about me? What about my ears?”
The undead monk army was almost upon them.
Then, the next moment…
“Ah-oh ah-oh eh ah sss da ah sss da——”
Terrifying music exploded outward. In the flickering firelight of the night, Ye Chui could almost see sound waves rippling from the magical constructs. The ground faintly trembled.
An overwhelming psychological pressure that could shatter the mind instantly descended upon every living being that heard the sound.
The beast-like charging undead monks immediately suffered immense strain. Those at the front screamed and collapsed, desperately clutching their ears to block the demonic sound. The monks already reduced to ash by Dragon Bao earlier seemed to suffer even greater damage. Undead monks sensed the world through their souls since their physical organs had long rotted away. Ordinary monks could block some sound with their decayed ears, but those reduced to ash had no ears at all. Under the intense stimulus of the music, their bodies disintegrated one after another.
These cursed souls scattered and perished.
The remaining monks fared no better. A huge mass of them rolled across the ground in front of Ye Chui. Some with weaker wills had already begun to disintegrate.
Stari, who had been shouting as he charged from behind, was affected by the sound and tripped spectacularly. He hurriedly covered his ears.
The uneasy melody resounded throughout Pirate Bay.
The pirates still on the shore were also affected to some degree. They grimaced in discomfort and hastily covered their ears. One particularly vicious pirate even stabbed his own ears with his knife…
When Ye Chui brought out the speakers, Dragon Bao had tried to cover his ears, only to discover that in giant dragon form his claws could not reach them. Roaring, he crashed down from the sky, smashed through the ice with his enormous head, and buried it underground, leaving his massive dragon rear high in the air.
Outside Pirate Bay, aboard the shadowy undead monk ships, the monks who had been roaring and preparing to leap down now panicked and tried desperately to climb back aboard. The monks clearly followed the red-bearded undead monk as their leader. He stood on the deck of one ship, watching his forces collapse on the ice, his expression dark.
“Let me out, let me out!” From the broken cabin behind him came a girl’s shouts. The girl was none other than Irabesha. After the monks had kidnapped her, they had brought her to the red-bearded leader. The pendant now hung around her neck.
The red-bearded undead monk confirmed without doubt that Irabesha was the person he sought.
He had originally been a pirate himself but never liked Pirate Bay, so he planned to wipe the place out while he was at it. With his current undead army, destroying a mere Pirate Bay should have been child’s play. Yet now the army was being halted. The undying, indestructible monks were actually being defeated by the enemy’s bizarre music…
Their attacks completely ignored all common sense!
The red-bearded monk himself was a cruel and domineering pirate. Facing Ye Chui’s obstruction, a burning desire to utterly annihilate the young man rose within him. At that moment he looked towards Ye Chui, and Ye Chui, standing behind the large speakers, met his gaze.
Their eyes locked, sparks flying.
Ye Chui crooked a finger at the monk: come and get me if you dare.
Then Ye Chui asked Turtle Bao, who was holding Celty’s head, “Is the entrance to the Death Spirit Realm open yet?”
Ye Chui could summon an army of death spirits, his strongest tool against large groups. However, death spirits could not fight on water. Although his frost magic was powerful, he could not instantly freeze the vast area outside Pirate Bay. The best strategy against the undead army was to lure them all inside the bay, where Ye Chui guaranteed he could kill as many as came. Those he could not kill could simply be tossed into the Death Spirit Realm.
“It’s open. The death spirit army can move out at any time,” Celty replied, rolling her eyes. She rolled her eyes not out of rudeness, but because no one was covering her ears. The dreadful music poured straight into them, and the poor woman was on the verge of passing out…
Ye Chui licked his lips and continued provocatively beckoning the red-bearded monk.
“Order every undead monk to attack. That kid is no ordinary human. We must eliminate him!” the red-bearded monk declared coldly.
But at that very moment, a streak of pale light appeared on the eastern horizon.
“Captain, dawn is coming…” his first mate said, face filled with panic.
The red-bearded pirate looked towards the red sun about to rise over the eastern sea. His face twitched in distortion. Then he glared once more at Ye Chui, eyes filled with bone-chilling hatred.
After a brief hesitation, he bellowed, “We’re leaving!”
…
“Huh?” Ye Chui had prepared to wipe out every last undead monk, yet suddenly the monks all began retreating to their ships. The vessels anchored outside Pirate Bay slowly sailed away. They were actually fleeing?
Ye Chui quickly realised why. Gentle morning light gradually spread from the east. The tormented undead monks, touched by those rays, showed extreme discomfort. Their movements grew rigid, and then they began collapsing at an even faster rate. Sunlight clearly dealt massive damage to them!
Cheers suddenly erupted along Pirate Bay’s shore. The pirates celebrated wildly, as if they themselves had driven off the monks…
Ye Chui glanced at the pirates along the shore and shook his head. Pirates really were pirates. Even the pirates in the Caribbean were utterly despicable by nature, especially Captain Jack, thoroughly shameless and vile, yet somehow overflowing with sulky charisma. These pirates had none of that charm whatsoever.
Then Ye Chui spotted Stari, who had fainted halfway across the ice.
The poor fellow had been knocked unconscious by the sheer force of the music.
