Code Mage Chapter 469

[Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss] was one of the first background musics Ye Chui unlocked.

The effect of this background music targeted the undead. It could transcend and purify them, making the undead involuntarily dance while returning to the blissful world. In other words, grave-dancing disco.

The successive witch clan members summoned by Fiorre through the prayer dance, the witch spirits, were essentially undead. Within the terrifying [Faith Cage], the witch spirits tried to burst this sealed world by continuously appearing. But Fiorre’s power was too weak to summon more. So Ye Chui activated [Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss] background music to assist.

Amid the upbeat and brainwashing music, Fiorre froze for a moment, then involuntarily began the seductive dance. Dressed in shrine maiden attire, with the dance and music, the scene was simply breathtaking.

The prayer dance essentially activated power through dancing. This aligned with Ye Chui’s background music principle. Fiorre dancing [Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss] achieved the same effect. Countless witch spirits could descend into this world through her as medium.

Around Fiorre, witch spirit figures appeared one after another. Their bodies were semi-transparent, each a beautiful woman. The background music Ye Chui released was not like [Uneasy], meant to attack others. It originally targeted Ye Chui or allies. Thus, [Faith Cage] could not rebound its effects.

More and more witch spirits appeared. Bishop Xis’s face grew increasingly pained. He began gasping involuntarily, looking like someone suffering from divine tune brainwashing.

“If you have the ability, use your true strength to break my [Faith Cage]! Resorting to this method… Do you feel no glory as a powerful magic mentor?” Bishop Xis roared painfully at Ye Chui.

“Playing divine tunes is also my strength. I never care about glory. As long as I can take you down, that is enough.” Ye Chui retorted smugly amid the divine melody.

In the not-so-large confined cage, the number of witch spirits now nearly filled it completely. Their dancing bodies even squeezed together involuntarily, giving a very ghostly feel.

Ye Chui watched Bishop Xis’s increasingly agonised expression, sensing the moment had come. He extended his hand and pointed remotely. “Bang!”

[Faith Cage] shattered accordingly!

A terrifying shockwave instantly emanated from the sacred hall. The surrounding walls, decorations, floor, and ceiling seemed to age through countless years in a moment, becoming mottled and decayed. The scriptures covering everything dissipated instantly. Bishop Xis, standing in the corner, spat a mouthful of blood with a wow. His strongest trump card, [Faith Cage], broken, caused him massive backlash!

He squatted on the ground, eyes flashing with bone-deep hatred and anger.

As [Faith Cage] broke, the layered witch spirits vanished one by one. Only the last remained, appearing beside Fiorre. Fiorre stopped dancing, swayed, and fainted. The witch spirit caught her, carried her to Ye Chui, and placed her in his arms.

Just as Ye Chui caught Fiorre, Bishop Xis suddenly boomed, crashing through the sacred hall wall. He fled swiftly into the distance.

Ye Chui did not pursue. He knew Bishop Xis was now at the end of his strength. Preparations were in place. Xis could not escape.

The witch spirit smiled at Ye Chui with gratitude and admiration, then vanished.

Debbie, Green, and the others rushed into the sacred hall. While Ye Chui was trapped, they had dealt with the other followers and witch attendants. Seeing the hall’s state, they showed concern. “What happened? How is Fiorre?” Debbie asked, looking at Fiorre in Ye Chui’s arms. “Why did she faint?”

“Probably from exhausting her power.” Ye Chui explained briefly. Green arrived beside him, so Ye Chui passed Fiorre to Green’s arms. “Hold her for now.”

Green’s expression turned strange, looking at Fiorre in his arms with indescribable complexity.

This displeased Debbie. She glared at Green disdainfully. “Are you thinking something weird? Careful, or I will tell Bosley. Better let me hold her!”

Green looked bitterly at Debbie, his expression one of utter helplessness.

Ye Chui stopped Debbie with amusement. “Let Green hold her… You might not believe it, but he is actually a boy.”

When Bishop Xis revealed the truth earlier, only Ye Chui, Celty, and Green, disguised as witch attendants, stood nearby. Debbie and the others were outside the hall and had not heard. Now learning the truth, several froze, staring at Fiorre in disbelief.

“A boy!?”

After escaping the sacred hall, Bishop Xis used all his remaining power to flee. He crashed through several walls, too afraid of pursuit to look back.

His power source was the scripture tattoos on his body. Now destroyed, he had only ordinary follower strength. Terror had broken his nerve.

Soon, he saw the high wall of the Ancestral God Temple. Joy flashed in his eyes. Approaching it, he leaped, scaled with several bounds, and jumped outward.

A turtle pattern suddenly rippled before his eyes.

The next moment, bang! He hit an invisible wall. His face flattened against it momentarily, then he fell back with a snap, landing heavily.

Ye Chui had instructed Guibao to envelop the entire temple in turtle pattern magic, preventing escapes.

Panicking, he scrambled up, staring in shock at the faint turtle patterns on the wall. He spat two teeth, face filled with alarm. Footsteps sounded behind him. He turned warily, seeing an adorably cute little girl, three or four years old, wearing a cute hat.

She tilted her head, hands behind her back, looking up at him. “Eeya?” she chirped crisply.

“…”

Where did this girl come from? No matter. He could use her as a hostage to escape!

A ferocious cold smile appeared on Bishop Xis’s face…

Several minutes later.

“Daddy, Baby caught the big bad guy…” Elf Baby bounced into Ye Chui’s arms.

Behind her, Longbao and Guibao dragged Bishop Xis by one arm each. Seeing his state, Ye Chui, Debbie, and the others gasped. Poor fellow: not a single intact spot, bruised and swollen, bloody, limbs twitching. He had been tripped by vines summoned by Elf Baby, slammed left and right over ten times.

“Mm, Baby is so good…” Ye Chui rubbed Elf Baby’s head, praising with a complicated expression.

The followers and witch attendants were securely bound and guarded by Ye Chui’s group. Originally, Ye Chui planned to infiltrate the Zenith Palace to rescue the imprisoned Emperor, Empress, and the three clan leaders: Sea Beast, Fire Fox, and Falcon Beast. But unexpectedly capturing Bishop Xis simplified everything.

The rebellion’s source was Bishop Xis himself. Rescuing the Emperor would immediately quell the chaos.

So Ye Chui prepared to disguise as Bishop Xis and infiltrate the Zenith Palace.

Bishop Xis had brought four followers to the temple. Per Ye Chui’s arrangement, Green, Celty, Leisha, and Guni disguised as them, following Ye Chui into the Zenith Palace. Debbie, Shaleme, and the dragon-turtle trio stayed at the Ancestral God Temple.

Fiorre, exhausted, remained unconscious until noon. Ye Chui instructed Debbie to be careful, then left the temple with Green, Celty, Leisha, and Guni.

Ye Chui had used spiritual magic to extract much information from a follower’s memory world, enough for the disguise.

Disguised as Bishop Xis, leaving the temple onto the capital streets, Ye Chui saw gazes of awe, fear, and some hatred directed at him. This reflected the Church’s recent image among Tidal Empire citizens.

Suddenly, a rotten cabbage flew from somewhere on the street, nearly hitting Ye Chui. The crowd quieted briefly, then erupted in cheers.

Then rotten eggs, carrots, dried salted fish, and the like rained from all directions.

As the disguised Bishop Xis, Ye Chui could not act directly to avoid exposure. In the end, Leisha used [Mama’s Got You] to protect them, allowing smooth escape from the street. Ye Chui’s face darkened. The Church’s reputation in the Tidal Empire stank like the exploded rotten egg before him. Everyone shouted to beat him on the street.

But why should he bear the Church’s abuse…

After Ye Chui entered the Zenith Palace, those citizens who attacked him on the street arrived satisfied at a rundown residence.

They respectfully reported their actions to the River God enshrined on the wooden table.

“Mm, you did very well. Dare to face Church oppression. Throwing rotten eggs is your small step, but a giant leap against Church forces. You showed courage, inspiring others. Our ranks will grow. This rotten egg operation was perfect. Later, I will praise you to my divine friend.”

Celty praised everyone with a charlatan air.

The citizens felt encouraged, faces beaming.

Celty was even happier, thinking how Ye Chui would praise her great deeds when he learned.
