Code Mage Chapter 523

Curse magic is a fused magical attribute formed by the combination of shadow magic attributes and spiritual magic attributes.

Ye Chui had once encountered a curse magister in the Buried Sword Land. If his grimoire had not just upgraded at that time, Ye Chui might have been toyed to death by that curse magister. It was that encounter which unlocked the curse magic attribute for him, adding two curse spells to his spell shop: Soul Sacrifice and Self Blood Sacrifice.

These two spells could only be cast at the cost of one’s own soul or blood. In curse magic, they were powerful but flawed spells.

Ye Chui had not unlocked these two spells. He would not use such spells that harmed the enemy by a thousand while damaging oneself by eight hundred.

After that, Ye Chui developed some interest in curse magic and researched what curse spells he could obtain from his resource library. Almost immediately, he thought of the film Final Destination.

Escaping death by accident, only to then suffer the curse of Death, constantly experiencing all sorts of accidental tragic deaths. That kind of misfortune was itself a form of curse. Comprehending Final Destination could yield a powerful curse spell.

However, Ye Chui’s attempt to comprehend it had failed because his magister level was too low at the time, and the spell obtained from comprehending Final Destination was too powerful for him to control. It remained that way until now. Ye Chui knew he had finally reached the point where he could fully master this spell.

Spending three thousand points to comprehend it, he successfully obtained the spell he wanted: Kiss of Death, Final Destination!

Kiss of Death was an advanced curse spell, targeted at a single person, requiring physical contact to cast. After casting, the target would be plagued by misfortune for a certain period, constantly encountering various accidents.

Final Destination was also an advanced curse spell, but a group one. After casting, misfortune would descend upon all affected in the group, causing accidents until death.

Final Destination required a trigger condition.

Ye Chui activated the Final Destination spell on his grimoire. Suddenly, dense arrays of magical firearms emerged around him. These were his King’s Arsenal. The firearms aimed at the countless zombies ahead. In the next moment, accompanied by bang bang bang sounds, flashes of fire covered the area around Ye Chui’s body, interspersed with flying magic missiles bombarding in all directions across the town.

As a true human fortress, Ye Chui spent only a few minutes turning Coldwind Port into scorched earth. Yet amid the ruins, the zombies remained unharmed. Only a few had died from accidents caused by Ye Chui’s attacks, such as being struck by exploding debris or burned by induced flames. The rest had all immunised against Ye Chui’s King’s Arsenal.

Ye Chui had previously used magical firearms to attack one zombie, so the others had collectively immunised against the flying magic weapons he had redeemed.

Ye Chui’s barrage seemed utterly ineffective.

Countless zombies let out mocking laughter, saying to Ye Chui, “Is this your spell? Useless, completely useless against me! Is this all the ability that makes even the gods treat you cautiously? You disappoint me greatly!”

“Don’t get smug yet.” Ye Chui smiled faintly, looking at his grimoire. “Good, Final Destination has activated.”

The activation condition for Final Destination was to first perform a lethal attack on the opponent. If the opponent evaded the attack, then Final Destination could activate.

Just like in that film series, the protagonists initially escaped death by accident, but Death would not let it go, shadowing them and killing the lucky ones one by one. In Ye Chui’s Final Destination spell, performing a lethal attack, whether deliberately missing or evaded by the opponent, achieved a similar condition to the film: You should have died, but you dodged it. Death disapproves, so it comes for you!

Debbie, Green, Bart, and the others looked at Ye Chui in surprise, not understanding the meaning of his indiscriminate attack earlier. Certain types of spells, especially curse spells, death spells, and domain spells, were completely different from ordinary attack or defence spells. They belonged to a type that was sufficiently fantastical even in a magical world.

Many people simply did not understand these types of spells. A spell requiring activation conditions beforehand? This was very novel to them.

Under everyone’s surprised and expectant gazes, Ye Chui smiled and looked towards the staggering zombies continuing to advance. Then they witnessed a very eerie scene.

One zombie suddenly tripped over a pit in the ground, falling flat. Coincidentally, there was a shard of wood debris on the ground from the recent explosion. The shard was thin and long, piercing straight through his mouth and out the back of his head.

Another zombie was walking when a precarious building beside him suddenly collapsed. With a crash, it buried him completely. A piece of broken brick flew up, landing on a wooden plank balanced on a fallen stool like a seesaw. On the other end was a dining knife. As the brick hit the plank, the knife shot up with a whoosh, embedding perfectly into the forehead of a zombie.

This zombie did not die. He reached out, grabbed the handle, and yanked it out forcefully. But he pulled too hard, and the knife accidentally slashed the neck of the zombie beside him as it came free. That zombie collapsed.

The one holding the knife seemed to glance at his fallen companion and continued forward, tossing the knife to the ground ahead. The silver dining knife landed perfectly in a crevice, standing upright. This zombie took two steps, tripped, and fell face-first. The knife instantly pierced deeper into the wound it had just created, killing him completely this time.

Ye Chui’s earlier attack had shattered a tavern by the road. Liquor stored inside was now flowing out continuously. A swordsman wielding a greatsword dragged his weapon across the stone ground, sparking as it went. When he reached the spilled liquor, flames whooshed up, instantly engulfing his body.

The greatswordsman, perhaps feeling pain, instinctively swung his greatsword to dispel the flames. The terrifying greatsword directly smashed the bodies of several zombies nearby. Clearly, Tixis’s special power allowed her to immunise against second damage from others, but it could not immunise her against second damage from her own incarnations. Her power was ineffective against herself.

By the time this burning greatswordsman collapsed from his burns, he had already cleaved dozens of zombies along the way.

“No, what have you done? How can this happen? This is curse magic, but I have never seen curse magic like this. How did you do it?” The combined voices of countless zombies asked loudly. From this voice, one could hear deep terror.

Since gaining this terrifying power, Tixis had never encountered a situation where she was utterly helpless. Curse magic was indeed the counter to her power. She had suffered losses to curse magic in the past. But this time, with over ten thousand incarnations, she should have had nothing to fear from curse magic. Yet Ye Chui’s curse magic was completely different from what she had encountered before.

That magic was simply unreasonable!

Final Destination was indeed an unreasonable magic. Use a lethal attack on the opponent. If they do not evade, they suffer lethal damage. But if they do evade, the spell activates, plaguing them with misfortune, constantly influenced by the surrounding environment.

This spell had cost Ye Chui three thousand points to comprehend, but over five thousand to unlock. Other advanced or super spells cost only a few hundred to a thousand points to unlock. This one reached five thousand, and the expense had its reasons.

It was precisely this unreasonableness he wanted!

The companions, still wrapped in Turtle Treasure’s defensive array, were now dumbfounded, staring wide-eyed and open-mouthed at the zombies continually meeting various accidents and falling, as if watching an exciting, gory R-rated film.

At this moment, the only thought in Ye Chui and his group’s minds was: If these zombies were not the townspeople killed and controlled by Tixis, they would really want to get some snacks and drinks to properly enjoy this spectacular show of creative deaths.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in the great cathedral of the Holy City, in the underground chamber exclusive to the Pope’s residence, the young Pope Bolis was sprawled indecently in his loose sleepwear on a huge comfortable recliner. Before him was a massive light screen displaying the scene in Coldwind Port.

Watching the zombies involuntarily meeting accidental deaths one by one, the young Pope showed an expression of amazement. He picked up a piece of dried roasted meat from the small table beside him, popped it into his mouth, chewed, and clapped his hands.

“Mr Ye Chui is indeed worthy of being the enemy that makes even the gods nervous. Truly lives up to his name. Tixis’s power is completely useless against him. Impressive, impressive.”

The white-robed nun Ada, who had made Stan Town vanish, was also sitting on a soft chair, her clothes somewhat dishevelled as she leaned beside Bolis. Looking at the screen, her face showed slight astonishment. “This Ye Chui is actually this powerful. Tixis is definitely doomed this time.”

“She has lived long enough.” Bolis’s handsome face showed a trace of regret, but no pity at all.

“Your Holiness, why did you agree to let Tixis go intercept and kill Ye Chui?” Ada asked at this moment. “You clearly knew Tixis was no match for Ye Chui.”

“Of course, to see Ye Chui’s true strength.” The Pope explained with a smile. “Then, I can use Tixis’s mouth to tell Ye Chui the way to enter the Divine Sin Continent, luring him into it.”
