Heaven Devourer Chapter 729

Another half month passed in a flash.

On this day, Mo Fan suddenly felt a transmission talisman on his body tremble slightly. His heart stirred immediately. He made a casual excuse, left the wooden hut, and flew off into the distance.

After confirming that no surveillance was present, Mo Fan took out the transmission talisman. A familiar voice immediately came from within.

“Daddy, where are you?”

“I have already reached the outskirts of White Holy Mountain and joined up with Brother Zhazha and the others.”

Mo Fan’s eyes brightened at once upon hearing this. He replied, “Stay outside and wait. When the time is right, I will come out to meet you immediately.”

The voice from the transmission talisman belonged to none other than Mo Fan’s good son, the Yingying Monster.

Originally, the Yingying Monster had not come with Mo Fan. Mo Fan had left it at Black Wind Mountain. However, not long ago, after Mo Fan discovered that one of the formations contained White Holy Mountain’s treasure vault, he could no longer remain calm. He sent a transmission outward, asking Zhazha and his group, who had been waiting nearby, to request Old Ancestor Bai Lu to make a trip and bring the Yingying Monster over.

The reason for bringing the Yingying Monster was that it possessed a special ability, one that even Mo Fan envied greatly. It could ignore formation defences and enter or exit freely.

Mo Fan had accidentally discovered this long ago during the Red Fire Peak incident.

He had asked the Yingying Monster about it later and learned that it was related to an innate supernatural power it had awakened, called “Boundless”. As long as it involved rune patterns or formations, it could almost always pass through freely.

Of course, it was not absolute. If it encountered some ancient formations formed by laws, even the Yingying Monster’s Boundless power would be ineffective.

This was because its Boundless ability targeted only rune pattern formations.

Laws, however, were a power higher than rune patterns. According to the Yingying Monster, laws were a special force from the upper realm that could form their own rules.

The arrival of the Yingying Monster filled Mo Fan with immense joy, but he did not act rashly. He knew that the moment was not yet optimal.

The half month of rest had allowed You Er to put on some weight again. Though not as exaggerated as before, his spirits had improved considerably. This made Mo Fan very pleased. He understood that it was time for this fellow to perform another divination.

During this half month, Mo Fan had not been idle. He had been constantly pondering why they could not find Yun Rou. In the end, he decided to take a risk by bringing You Er deeper into White Holy Mountain and performing another divination midway in the direction indicated by the Destiny Compass, to see if the compass’s accuracy was the issue.

Thus, Mo Fan and his group chose a time when night was deep and demons were quiet. They tucked You Er into a pouch and escaped into the distance.

Thanks to the Ghost Demon King’s tendrils guiding them underground, they avoided many dangers.

After travelling underground for some time, they arrived at a place rarely visited by demons.

Once the Ghost Demon King set up a restriction to isolate their auras, Mo Fan released You Er again.

Though You Er grumbled inwardly, he knew he could not escape it. He simply steeled himself and began divining once more. This divination, like the first, cost You Er a full twenty drops of essence blood to complete.

After one session, You Er was reduced to his original state, even thinner than when he first ascended Black Wind Mountain. He looked no different from a rack of ribs.

This gave Mo Fan quite a fright. He hurriedly took out large quantities of spiritual medicines and forced them down You Er’s throat, terrified that the fellow might die on the spot.

“Great King, I, You Er, have been utterly loyal to you. This time, I truly have not a single drop left. You cannot squeeze me any more. It really will kill me.”

After downing several bottles of unknown spiritual medicines, You Er’s deathly pale face finally regained some colour. He immediately wailed to Mo Fan, tears streaming down his face. Even snot bubbles appeared, making him unbearable to watch.

“This king knows.”

“Rest assured. If we rescue Yun Rou this time, you will have the greatest merit.”

“Then this king will find a way to cultivate you to the Core Formation stage and confer a king title upon you.”

Mo Fan spoke solemnly. He was about to reach out and pat You Er’s shoulder, but seeing the other’s skin-and-bones frame, he silently withdrew his hand.

He genuinely feared that one pat might send the fellow off to the afterlife right there.

However, Mo Fan’s words excited You Er greatly. He thought to himself, “That damned toad demon has finally grown a conscience? All my hard work has not been in vain.”

Though You Er had not been at Black Wind Mountain long, he greatly envied the various demon kings there. Each held real power, with king realm titles, commanding countless lesser demons. How glorious that was.

At this thought, You Er began to daydream vividly in his mind. Gradually, however, he felt his whole body growing hot. He assumed it was due to the medicines being too potent.

Mo Fan naturally noticed this too. He muttered inwardly, “This fellow is indeed easy to placate. But is he not too excited? Why is even his skin turning red?”

Mo Fan did not dwell on it further. Instead, he frowned at the Destiny Compass. He saw that the pointer above had clearly changed direction.

This time, it no longer pointed far away. Instead, it pointed towards Chang Gui Mountain.

The divination image still showed a dark place, but this time it included a few more details. When Mo Fan looked closely, he realised it was actually a mountain.

It was none other than Chang Gui Mountain.

“How can this be? Could my Destiny Compass be broken?”

Even You Er could not help doubting at this sight, suspecting something wrong with his own compass.

The Ghost Demon King beside them also frowned tightly, looking at this rack of bones before him. He felt it all rather unreliable.

“No, the compass is not broken.”

But at that moment, Mo Fan suddenly laughed. He said, “I may know where Yun Rou is trapped.”

“Where?”

The two demons looked at Mo Fan at once, but soon seemed to understand something. They asked in surprise, “You mean Chang Gui Mountain?”

“Exactly. Chang Gui, Chang Gui. Do you not find this pronunciation somewhat familiar?”

Mo Fan looked at the two demons, joy growing in his eyes.

However, both demons shook their heads simultaneously, indicating nothing special about it.

“Uh… Alright, let me put it more clearly. Could Chang Gui Mountain also be called Chang Ghost Mountain?”

In resignation, Mo Fan voiced his suspicion. “If we interpret Chang Gui as chang ghost, then everything makes sense.”

“Chang Gui Mountain likely conceals a massive formation boundary, and within that boundary are imprisoned many chang ghosts, or rather, wandering souls. It is precisely because of these wandering souls that the formation is filled with yin winds and ghostly qi.”

At Mo Fan’s words, the two demons’ eyes immediately brightened.

It seemed quite reasonable.

“Let us go. Whether it is as I think, we can return and thoroughly investigate Chang Gui Mountain. Then everything will become clear.”

Mo Fan smiled as he spoke, then bundled You Er up again and escaped underground with the Ghost Demon King, returning to Chang Gui Mountain.

However, when Mo Fan returned to the wooden hut, he found that You Er was acting abnormally. The fellow was actually clinging to his leg and refusing to let go.

“Great King, I… I feel so excited. My whole body is burning hot. Did you just feed me poison?”
