“Alright.”
Hai Tong still saw them out of the hotel before turning back. She went up to the top floor and rested for a while in the presidential suite that Zhan Yin usually used.
Zhan Yin drove the old lady and their daughter home.
Once in the car, the two ancestors fell asleep.
The old lady held Beibei, leaning against the car seat, with Beibei nestled in her arms. The old and the young slept soundly.
Zhan Yin wanted to talk to Grandma, but after saying a few words and getting no response, he glanced in the rear-view mirror and saw that both were asleep.
“They must be so tired to fall asleep the moment they got in the car.”
Zhan Yin even envied the sleeping ability of these two ancestors.
He did not have such good sleep speed. Every night when he lay in bed, he always had to think about work matters before he could fall asleep.
Sometimes, thinking too much would cause insomnia.
Zhan Yue drove Zeng Xiaoya back to the Zeng family clinic. He said to her, “Xiaoya, you go and take your lunch break first. I’ll go check on the renovation of my house. In half an hour, I’ll wait for you at your door.”
“Alright.”
“Don’t you want to rest a bit too?”
“I’ll sleep for ten minutes or so in the car later. Then have a coffee in the afternoon, and I’ll be full of energy.”
Zeng Xiaoya smiled, said nothing more, got out of the car, waved goodbye to him, and went into the clinic.
At midday, the clinic was very quiet, with no patients.
Second Aunt had probably gone upstairs. Only Second Uncle was lying on the rocking chair, seemingly asleep, but he opened his eyes immediately when he heard footsteps.
Seeing it was his niece back, he sat up.
“Xiaoya’s home. I thought you went straight to the hospital.”
Zeng Xiaoya had called to say she would not be back for lunch, so her uncle and aunt would not wait for her.
“There’s still time, so I came back for a quick lunch break before work. Has Second Aunt gone to sleep?”
“Yes, she’s upstairs. Where did Zhan Yue take you for lunch? Why did he invite you? Out of the blue like that.”
Second Uncle’s words were hinting to his niece that Zhan Yue had feelings for her.
Zeng Xiaoya did not think too much about it and said, “Zhan Yue was accompanying his grandma for a check-up at our hospital and booked my slot. After Grandma Zhan’s check-up, she ran into me getting off work. The old lady insisted on inviting me to eat with her.”
“I couldn’t refuse such warm hospitality, so I went. I also met Young Master Zhan and his wife, as well as their precious daughter. No one outside has seen what the little girl looks like. She really is adorably fair and lovely, extremely cute.”
“She wasn’t shy at all. The first time she saw me, she wanted me to hold her. I really wanted to take her home and raise her myself.”
Second Uncle inwardly grumbled: What a silly girl. They are treating you like family, and you’re still oblivious.
If the Zhan family didn’t see Xiaoya as one of their own, why would they let her see the true face of their precious treasure?
People in Guancheng knew that the eldest young master of the Zhan family had a daughter, but apart from those close to the Zhans, outsiders never got to see what the little miss looked like.
She was protected extremely well.
“Second Uncle, I think everyone’s evaluation of the Zhan family is true. After having a meal with Grandma Zhan and Sister Tong, I believe what people say about them.”
“They really are very good. Grandma Zhan is just like my own grandmother, Sister Tong treats me like a younger sister. Although Young Master Zhan doesn’t talk much, when he does speak to me, his attitude is gentle, like an older brother.”
Second Uncle inwardly grumbled again: This girl would help count the money even if she were sold.
All of Zhan Yue’s family members were helping him pursue his niece.
Second Uncle saw through it but said nothing. He would let Zhan Yue slowly melt his niece’s heart. He felt that his niece liked Zhan Yue more. That young man was very handsome and excellent in every way.
