The Simulator Chapter 99

Lu Yao observed this forgotten city of the dead.
The city structure of Saniro remained largely unchanged, except for the addition of a wide river ditch.

The ghostly villain commanded the sandworms and dug out the artificial river ditch in the ground. The river ditch extended all the way to the harbour directly to the south, bringing seawater into to the city, and the water then returned to the sea from the river to the east.

The river encircles Saniro, allowing the city’s ghosts to go out and enter the sea by water.
The miniature canal project wasn’t easy for Saniro either, and it was still a work in progress.
They used all the sandworms, ten in total, on the artificial river.
Part of the sandworms were digging river ditches in the earth, part of them carried in rocks and opened their mouths to spit out stones and sand, tamping the sides to pile up a rudimentary riverbank.
Another part of the sandworms curled up to rest because they were too tired, with ZZZs sprouting from their heads.

Commanding the entire canal project was Mayor Chapman, who brought a few ghostly villains to keep observing the riverbank and ditch, exchanging opinions with each other.
Lu Yao took a look. Good lord, the two beside Chapman were acquaintances.
The first generation Shaman Hunting Barn, the second generation leader Fishing Away. Two experienced industrialists.
After measuring in the river, Huntura said, ”This height and width should be enough. If the fish people come over, this depth of water and the caves at the bottom of the river are enough for them to live.”

Fishwalker commented, “Once the fish people clan migrates to Saniro, they will need a lot of meat for food, and there aren’t that many fish near the shallow sea. There will definitely be trade with Yao City in the north and Salt City in the west.”
“Initially, there might be friction and conflicts with them, and direct conflict might even break out.”
“No need to worry.”
Mayor Chapman said, “The fish people moved into Saniro, of course they have to accept Saniro’s city management and follow the city’s laws.”
“If they don’t follow the rules, then Commander Yaris-san will keep them in line.”
“However, those aren’t going to happen. The Fishman clan, though numerous, are no longer the undersea wanderers of their ancestors, but merely an ordinary undersea intelligent race.”
“All for the sake of offering faith to the Great Yao God!”

Lu Yao looked a little cloudy, so he simply called in Isabel and asked her to check out the situation in Saniro for him.
Facing Apostle Isabel, Mayor Chapman immediately became respectful and fawning.
He rattled on about the progress of Saniro over the years.
“Lord Isabel, Saniro is different from ordinary cities, it has some special circumstances.”
“Saniro doesn’t need food rationing, the citizens are all ghosts of the dead and don’t need to eat or drink. If there are no natural disasters, every citizen has a long lifespan.”
“But on the other hand, ghosts have birth defects.”
“We don’t have the ability to procreate, and population increase can only rely on external introduction.”
“Then there is the labour aspect. Ghosts touching these solid stones, wood and copper and iron are also much more strenuous than ordinary people. It’s difficult to revive Saniro entirely on our own.”
“That’s why I held a meeting at the town hall and invited representatives of the citizens to join in the discussion to decide the next direction of Saniro’s development ……”
The meeting began by determining Saniro’s first major policy: to increase its power and attract outsiders to move in.
Normal people wouldn’t come to this City of the Dead, if they were to go, they would go to Yao City and Salt City.

So Chapman targeted the abnormal people group.
After tireless efforts and investigation, they finally found their target.
While searching for the dead souls in the sea, Dinar found a special race: the Deep Sea Fishman.
As soon as they saw the Deep Sea Ramblers, the fish people were very excited to come over and circle around them.
The two sides actually communicated without any obstacles.
Dinar soon understood the reason.
It turned out that the deep sea fish people were the descendants of a small number of surviving sea walkers.

The fish people hid in the trench under the deep sea. It was only until the gods changed and the outside world became calm again that they dared to come out again and show themselves in the sea.
The latter became easier.
Dinar lobbied the Fishman clan to settle in the city of Saniro and promised that a suitable underwater habitat would be built for them.
This is what led to a series of small canal projects around the city later on.
Sanilo was also being transformed into a city on water.
……
Lu Yao cast his gaze towards the fishmen on the seashore.
Deep Sea Fishmen were similar in appearance to Undersea Strollers, with webbed hands and feet, large dead fish eyes, pointed noses, and no hair.
They were only half the height of an ordinary human ghost, and looked a little Q-ish and dopey on the pixelated screen.

The level of the fishmen was very low, the vast majority of them were LV1, not as good as the ghosts in Sanilo.
Lu Yao searched and searched, but he couldn’t find the leader in the fishmen.
He asked Isabelle to ask and realised that the fishman group did not have the concept of a leader.
The fishmen were more like individuals who gathered together, and the community was very primitive.
Lu Yao clicked on a fishman’s panel.
……

……

Classic mongrel template data.
Compared to the Undersea Wanderer, it could be said to be a serious degradation.
Lu Yao continued to ask and observe, and found that the Deep Sea Fishmen could neither write nor had much intelligence.
They could only communicate with the Undersea Strollers, and when they encountered other ghosts, question marks would appear on their heads. The fishmen were very fond of livestock meat and fruits, and it was not only ancestor worship but also food that attracted them to Sanilo.
Just as Lu Yao was slightly disappointed, the Undersea Strollers led by Dinar knelt down one by one.
They were facing in the direction of Yao City in a pilgrimage.
Dinar cried out under his breath, “The old darkness has dispersed and a new dawn has arrived.”

“The gods shelter us and give us abundance and safety, hope and strength!”
“The gods who awakened [Egil’s Fire] and [Lords of the Deep] are destined to be our masters and protectors.”
“Praise our Heavenly Father and Saviour, Yao Shen!”
Slowly, the fishmen followed Dinar’s example and made an awkward pilgrimage.
Large piles of jumbled code emerged above the head of each deep-sea fishman.
The jumble gradually became clear.
“Praise …… Father, Yao God!”
“Praise my …… Heavenly Father, Yao God!”
“Praise our Heavenly Father and Saviour, Yao God!”
This kind of group kneeling seemed to make the fish people become particularly excited, and joyful smiles sprang up on each of their heads.
A reminder appeared on the simulator.
[Ancestor worship has inspired the deep-sea fish people.]
[Wonders inspired the Deep Sea Fishmen.]
[The Deep Sea Fishmen clan has rekindled the fire of faith.]
Lu Yao saw it.

In the upper right corner of the interface, the numbers in the Population and Faith columns began to grow in tandem.

……
Before and after, the two items kept going up by 2900 points before they completely smoothed out.
Saniro had actually introduced so many fishmen that Lu Yao had not even expected it at all.
After the deep sea fishmen settled in the city’s canals, their first move was to spontaneously build a shrine.
Groups of fishmen went around carrying rocks and digging up underwater dirt, toiling hard night and day. Under the guidance of the ghosts, they built a temple to the god Yao that belonged to the city of Saniro.
Although the new shrine was not very beautiful, Lu Yao could use it.
At this point, there were three shrines in three cities, connecting them completely.
The beauty of it was that although the fish people were quick to accept in their beliefs, the barrier of writing and language was still there. It would take a lot of time for them to truly learn the local script and language.
Dinar suddenly found Isabel in a hurry.
“Lord Apostle, there is an important piece of information that I need to report to you immediately.”

“The fish people say that there is an evil god in the north of the eastern land. That evil god once killed many fish people and used their corpses to do some kind of ritual to feed a kind of green thing on the ground ……”
“Maybe that’s the Evil God that God Yao is looking for.”

Lu Yao immediately got into the spirit.
Coincidence no?
It was called the way to get what you want and the way to lose what you want.
The city, the ghosts, and the fishmen are all my people, so what are you going to fight me with?
