Giants in the air may hold treasures in their hands.
Ghostly white horses may cross mountains and seas, but they cannot reach the sky.
The Blood Riders set out to find a way to reach the sky.
This world did not have ladders to ascend to the heavens, nor did it have special teleportation channels. The sky and the earth were just so far apart that it was hard to cross.
It was at this point that the dwarves found the Blood Knights.
“Mighty and valiant Knight, the Dwarf Furnace Clan sends you their highest respect and gratitude!”
“You have freed us from the threat of the Sea of Fire.”
“You have made it possible for the Dwarves to tread farther into the land and regain their livelihood.”
“In return for your help and salvation, the Furnace Clan will do their best to create the best armour and swords for you! If you have any requests, please feel free to mention them! The Fireforge clan will definitely spare no effort!”
Over the course of several years, the dwarves were fully aware of Nevid’s stance as he fought and charged through the sea of fire.
The Furnace clan initially felt that this was a madman who had appeared out of nowhere.
Running and swinging a sword towards the flames would only result in being entangled and consumed by the flames.
Every dwarf in the fortress knew that.
It was a world of fire and hearth.
The world has been forged into a giant blast furnace, and the Fire Furnace clan are the smelting artisans who guard it.
In the past, many ores, coke and some special materials would fall out of the sky. They entered from the sea of fire on the other side of the world and were turned into iron, copper and slag by the fire elementals in the heat.
These hot, semi-finished products would fall from the passage through the centre of the Blast Furnace world to the other pole, the land where the dwarves were, or the Forge Zone. The continent of the Forge Zone is made entirely of coke, clay, and various foundry materials glued together.
Next, the dwarves have to sort these tumbling semi-finished products.
Iron, copper, and other specialised metals were stacked to one side in an orderly fashion, while slag and waste materials were dumped into the fire once more.
Then came the work of forging.
In the case of iron, for example, the Furnace Clan has to rework the pig iron, heat them up and then forge them repeatedly, forging them into a block of high-quality cooked iron.
These pieces of cooked iron were piled up into iron towers, which would be sucked up by the cloud giants in the air and then sent to the outside world.
The dwarves could not remember exactly how many years they had been beating iron in this blast furnace world. All they knew was that the world was supposed to be like this, flames, firing, forging, piling ……
At some point, the ore stopped falling from the sky.
The dwarves feed on slag, and are not afraid of a lack of food themselves. Thousands of years of piled up waste material, all over this blast furnace world, also let the world in the ever expanding and rolling round.
Without the need to burn metal anymore, the sea of fire grew stronger day after day, the flames expanding further outwards, constantly eroding and engulfing the ground of the dwarves.
The Dwarves knew that the flames would one day wrap the world completely.
They waited for the rains from the cloud giants, which they concentrated and stored in the fortress.
The dwarves continued to forge and fortify the fortress, the ultimate battle with the fire elemental creatures would always come, and they silently prepared for it. With the dwarven fortress, they had hope.
Even though they knew there was no chance of victory, the Dwarves never gave in to the odds.
Just as they were nervously preparing, the sea of fire suddenly disappeared.
The originally vast and unrivalled Land of Fire actually ushered in its own end before the end of the Dwarves.
That mad knight conquered the flames.
The angry roar and debilitating wail of the emperor’s giant elephant spread throughout the world.
The unrivalled emperor perished and took with him the fire of the entire world.
The dwarves looked at each other in disbelief.
They conferred internally and decided that, whether as a matter of courtesy or as a tribute to courage, they must pay their highest respects and honour to this marvellous knight.
……
The unknown Blood Knight, thinking only of his next opponent.
Nevid says, “I’m going to the sky to fight the cloud giants.”
This request dumbfounded the Dwarf clan.
To go to heaven and have to fight?
Isn’t it good to be on the ground?
What a cool and beautiful place to be without a land strewn with flames. There are only clouds in the sky, and the terrible cloud giants that rule the sky.
The Furnace Clan once again conferred urgently.
Although he did not know why the knight wanted to go to the sky, since he had raised the need, the grand words that the Dwarf clan had put down earlier had to be honoured.
After a tense and heated discussion, the dwarves did find a way.
They built many fireplaces outside the Dwarf fortress and set up tall chimneys.
Because the sea of fire had disappeared, the dwarves could find much material from the sea bed waste to make the chimneys strong and straight. The chimney process went on methodically.
Under the area of the sky where the cloud giants hovered and rested, chimneys had been erected so thickly that they looked like cacti with thorns stuck in them.
The dwarves threw in coke and lit a fire.
Hundreds of chimneys were pouring out smoke, rolling black smoke straight into the sky, blackening all the clouds in the sky, and a large amount of coal ash flew into the air, covering the sky.
The sleeping cloud giant inhaled a large amount of coal ash and woke up while coughing.
It angrily blew a gale!
Yet chimneys were still being built one by one, and the gale could not shake the craftsmanship that the dwarves had hammered out over countless years.
That was the purpose of the dwarves: to bring the cloud giants to earth.
However, the cloud giants reacted in a way they hadn’t expected at all.
The cloud giant shouted in the air after blowing the wind to no avail, “Don’t do this! It’s too choking, choking to death ……cough cough cough cough ……”
“No exhaust, no soot, too much, too much, can’t take it! Cough cough cough ……”
“Cough cough, if you guys want it to rain in the future, just call me!”
“Damned abominable coal dust! Ahhhhhhhh!”
“Okay, okay …… got it, you guys win!”
“I’m just following the rules too! You guys don’t go too far!”
The Blood Knight and the Dwarf were baffled.
Further talks between the two sides led to the Blood Knight learning what was going on.
Don’t look at the Cloud Giant’s big block, it’s body is actually a very small circle, the outside is all wrapped up in the illusion of clouds, the body is so fat and vain.
And because of the rules of the limit, it can only stay in the sky that circle of fixed area, the range of activities than the ground dwarfs are even narrower. Its task is to suck away the metal into the channel that will appear above the head, providing water to the dwarves, so that the dwarves can forge metal.
After the passage was closed, the cloud giant was also bored for many years, and its only entertainment was peeing from the air.
The dwarves were outraged!
For many years, the Fire Hearth Clan had thought that the Cloud Giant was unfathomable, high in the sky, a world-class monster on the same level as the King of the Fire Sea, the Imperial Giant Elephant. However, it never occurred to them that it was nothing more than an outwardly strong look-alike.
When the Cloud Giant revealed its true form, it was a very small light blue cloud mass.
In an attempt to apologise and protect itself, the Cloud Giant also gave what it thought was heavy news.
“The main world outside has been destroyed …… Only by this possibility will the gods abandon this Blast Furnace World.”
“Not only was this place used to forge metals, it was also a place to cultivate the fire element.”
“He hasn’t appeared for many eons, it’s only possible that the gods have fallen.”
“You no longer need to forge!”
The Blood Knight had been clear about this for a long time.
He asked only one thing: “Where are the best treasures here?”
Yao Shen’s order must not be forgotten.
The cloud giant said, “Of course it is the fire element, that sea of fire …… but it is gone now.”
“Removing the sea of fire, the most valuable thing here is definitely the Dwarf Fortress.”
……
On Lu Yao’s left hand was a red stone box, which was the [Muspelheim Fire Box], the engine and source of the Sea of Fire.
On his right hand was a grey stone building model, this was the Dwarf Fortress.
Lu Yao looked towards the returning Blood Knight.
There was an additional layer of flame patterns on Nevid’s armour, which looked ancient and exquisite. In addition, the Blood Knight had become more calm and introverted, and the aggressive aura he had before was not felt at all.
This trip to the [Spirit World] Crossbelt was full of rewards.
Outside it was only ten minutes, seven years had passed in the Blast Furnace World, and inside time flowed faster than Baroye had anticipated.
