“Try intercepting another team to ask,” Lin Yun said.
“I’ll go!” Wu Tiancheng immediately soared into the air.
Moments later, another team came rushing down from the depths of the mountains.
“Fellow cultivators, what’s happening? Please tell us,” Wu Tiancheng called out, attempting to intercept them.
But the team ignored him, swerving around and continuing their frantic dash down the mountain.
After several failed attempts to stop other teams, one cultivator finally shouted, “Don’t block the way! If you don’t want to die, run down the mountain now!”
With only that brief warning, the cultivator sped off, unwilling to linger for even a second.
This heightened everyone’s unease.
Thud, thud, thud…
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble faintly.
“Look!” Hou Cheng, a teammate beside Lin Yun, pointed to the sky above the mountain depths.
In the distance, a dark, ominous mass loomed in the air. It was too far to discern clearly what it was.
This dark mass moved towards them at an alarming speed from the horizon.
At the same time, they saw numerous human teams fleeing in all directions, racing down the mountain from the air.
In the brief moment they spoke, the dark mass had already closed a significant distance.
“Demons! So many… countless demons!” Lin Yun’s eyes widened in horror as he stared at the distant horizon.
Activating his Void Silence Eyes, Lin Yun peered far into the distance and saw clearly what the dark mass was: an uncountable swarm of demons.
He could also see teams in the deeper parts of the mountains being overtaken by the demon horde. Those who turned to fight were annihilated almost instantly.
Other teams, unaware of the danger until it was too late, had no chance to escape.
Lin Yun was stunned. He had never seen so many demons.
“Could it be… the legendary demon tide?” Wu Tiancheng’s face paled dramatically.
“Run! No time to think, just run!” Hou Cheng shouted.
“Go!” Lin Yun’s expression shifted as he yelled.
Everyone took to the air, pushing their speed to the limit, fleeing down the mountain.
If that massive demon horde caught up, death was certain.
As Lin Yun’s group fled, more teams from the Border Mountains joined the chaotic exodus, forming a massive human army racing through the air and across the ground.
“Damn it, why are there suddenly so many demons?” Lin Yun cursed while fleeing.
“It’s a demon tide. I’ve heard of one before, but they’re supposed to happen only once every tens of thousands of years!” Wu Tiancheng said in shock.
“Demon tide?” Lin Yun was startled.
He hadn’t expected to encounter such a catastrophe.
While fleeing, Lin Yun kept an eye on the situation behind.
“No good! The demons leading the horde have wings. They’re too fast! We won’t escape for long before they catch up!” Lin Yun’s face turned ashen.
Despite their full-speed flight and the distance still separating them from the horde, that gap was steadily closing.
But stopping to fight would mean certain death.
After fleeing at full speed for a while, Lin Yun and his teammates became separated in the chaos. With so many teams fleeing, and each person’s maximum speed varying, it was easy to get scattered in such a frantic escape.
No one had time to stop and search for teammates.
Now, only Wu Tiancheng remained by Lin Yun’s side.
There were still many unfamiliar cultivators from other teams around, some ahead, some behind, all racing down the mountain at full speed.
In the past half hour, numerous human cultivators had been overtaken and killed by the demons, and the death toll kept rising as time passed.
