If Lin Yun resisted with his consciousness, the death servant contract would fail to form.
Thus, to successfully form the death servant contract, the participant must fully agree and cooperate.
Soon, the death servant contract was successfully completed.
From this day forward, Lin Yun was bound to serve the Heavenly Fire Temple with absolute loyalty, unconditionally carrying out any orders or missions issued by the temple.
“Well done. From today, the Heavenly Fire Temple gains another loyal warrior,” Elder Shang said with a satisfied smile.
With a wave of his hand, Elder Shang produced a storage ring.
“This contains a batch of resources, an exclusive reward for becoming a death servant,” Elder Shang said, tossing the storage ring to Lin Yun.
“Elder Shang, your subordinate has arrived,” a voice called from outside the hall just as Lin Yun caught the ring.
“Come in,” the elder responded toward the door.
The next moment, a burly man in purple-gold armour strode confidently into the hall.
“Greetings, Elder Shang!” the man boomed, his voice resonant and commanding.
“Guang Tiancheng, this is Lin Yun. He has just arrived at the ancestral land and formed the death servant contract. From now on, he’s under your command. Help him get familiar with the Heavenly Fire Temple,” Elder Shang instructed.
“Yes, sir!” Guang Tiancheng responded.
“Lin Yun, this is Guang Tiancheng, a Heavenly Fire General. You will serve under him from now on,” Elder Shang said, hands clasped behind his back.
“General Guang,” Lin Yun said, immediately clasping his fists in respect.
“Good. Lin Yun, go with him. He’ll handle the rest,” Elder Shang said, waving his hand to dismiss Lin Yun.
Clearly, Lin Yun’s current status and position didn’t warrant the elder personally guiding him.
“Yes, sir,” Lin Yun replied, then followed Heavenly Fire General Guang Tiancheng out of the palace.
After leaving the palace, Lin Yun gripped the storage ring rewarded to him and examined its contents.
The ring’s interior was vast, equivalent to several standard football fields.
It was mostly empty, containing three million Haoyue crystals and a square metal plaque.
“So many Haoyue crystals?” Lin Yun was stunned upon seeing the sheer quantity.
Three million Haoyue crystals would be an astronomical figure on the cultivation continent.
Even using the Qiankun Supreme Cauldron to refine such an amount of Qiankun crystals would require an immense expenditure of resources.
Guang Tiancheng glanced at Lin Yun and shook his head. “No wonder you’re from the outer realms, making a fuss over nothing. Three million Haoyue crystals aren’t even enough to forge a saint artefact, just enough for a pseudo-saint artefact. What’s there to be shocked about?”
Lin Yun was left speechless by the comment.
But upon reflection, he realised Guang Tiancheng was right. The Haoyue crystals on the cultivation continent all came from the Heavenly Fire Temple, as the continent itself didn’t produce them, making them rare. In the ancestral land, where Haoyue crystals were likely produced, they were far less scarce.
Guang Tiancheng continued, “Kid, the truly valuable item in your death servant reward is that death servant plaque.”
“This?” Lin Yun asked, pulling out the square metal plaque.
“Exactly,” Guang Tiancheng confirmed with a glance.
“General, what’s it for?” Lin Yun asked curiously.
Though Guang Tiancheng’s attitude was less than friendly, Lin Yun knew nothing about this place and had no choice but to ask him.
“Every death servant receives a death servant plaque, which can be used at the Heavenly Fire Treasure Pavilion to exchange for any saint-level secret manual,” Guang Tiancheng explained.
“I see,” Lin Yun nodded in understanding.
“To obtain more saint-level secret manuals in the future, you’ll need to use battle merit points,” Guang Tiancheng added.
“Battle merit points?” Lin Yun asked, puzzled.
“The Heavenly Fire Temple is constantly at war. Completing missions or fighting for the temple will earn you battle merit points, which can be exchanged for various resources,” Guang Tiancheng clarified.
“I understand,” Lin Yun nodded.
“By the way, kid, are you an Initial Saint or a Mysterious Saint?” Guang Tiancheng asked.
“Initial Saint? Mysterious Saint? What does that mean?” Lin Yun looked utterly confused.
“Are you serious? I’m asking about your realm! The saint realm is divided into Initial Saint, Mysterious Saint, and Heavenly Saint. You don’t even know that?” Guang Tiancheng stared at Lin Yun as if he were an idiot.
“Uh, General, I haven’t reached the saint realm yet. I’m still at the dominion realm,” Lin Yun said with an awkward chuckle.
“What?”
“The dominion realm?”
“You’re not even at the saint realm? Are you kidding me? Has the Heavenly Fire Temple changed its rules to bring in dominion realm cultivators from other star realms? How did a dominion realm cultivator become a Heavenly Fire Lieutenant?” Guang Tiancheng grumbled.
“Well, General, though I’m only at the dominion realm, I’m definitely stronger than the average dominion realm cultivator,” Lin Yun said, slightly embarrassed.
He could tell Guang Tiancheng was unimpressed, looking down on him for not being at the saint realm.
“You outsiders from the lower star realms are always the top dogs in your own realms, so of course you think you’re strong. But you need to understand, this is the ancestral land. Among cultivators of the same realm, you outsiders are basically at the bottom,” Guang Tiancheng said dismissively.
“Alright, General,” Lin Yun replied with another awkward chuckle, opting not to argue further.
At this point, Lin Yun truly didn’t know the combat strength of dominion realm or saint realm cultivators in the ancestral land.
He suspected that, at the same realm, the ancestral land’s cultivators might indeed be stronger.
So, Lin Yun refrained from boasting too much.
“In the ancestral land, the dominion realm is actually considered decent, even above average,” Guang Tiancheng said.
Then, his tone shifted. “But this is the Heavenly Fire Temple, one of the three top forces in the Northern Flame Domain. The Cold Fiend Army under my command consists of the temple’s death servants, an elite force. A dominion realm cultivator like you is just ordinary under me.”
“Is that so?” Lin Yun gave a wry smile.
“By the way, General, what realm are you?” Lin Yun asked curiously.
“I’m at the Tongtian realm, above the saint realm,” Guang Tiancheng said proudly.
As he spoke, Guang Tiancheng led Lin Yun to a camp.
“This is the camp of my Cold Fiend Army. Since you’re under my command and a Heavenly Fire Lieutenant, you’ll temporarily serve as the captain of the fifth battalion. The previous captain of the fifth battalion died seventeen years ago, so you’re filling the vacancy.”
As he spoke, Guang Tiancheng led Lin Yun forward.
The camp consisted of a row of courtyards, and Guang Tiancheng brought Lin Yun to the fifth one.
The courtyard was filled with rows of barracks.
“Everyone, come out!” Guang Tiancheng bellowed.
The next moment, over a hundred people emerged from the barracks.
