Due to the pain, Lin Yun could no longer speak.
“Yun’er, hold on! Once we get back to the Lin Mansion, your father can check on you!”
Yan Shi ran frantically, crying and repeatedly calling out to Lin Yun.
But Lin Yun eventually passed out.
“Yun’er! Yun’er!” Yan Shi screamed in anguish, clutching Lin Yun tightly and racing toward the Lin Mansion with all her strength.
At the Lin Mansion.
“Help! Someone, save him!”
Yan Shi’s cries, filled with desperation and sorrow, echoed through the mansion as she rushed toward the entrance.
“Yan Shi.”
The two guards at the gate were startled by the scene and hurried to meet her.
“Yan Shi, what’s wrong?” the guards asked urgently.
“Quick… quickly call the Master! Save Yun’er!” Yan Shi cried out, sobbing.
Seeing Lin Yun unconscious, the guards were also alarmed.
“Yan Shi, let us carry the young master.”
The two guards moved to take Lin Yun, noticing Yan Shi was drenched in sweat and seemed on the verge of collapse.
“No! I will hold my son!”
Yan Shi, clutching Lin Yun, rushed into the mansion.
“Master! Master! Save Yun’er!”
Yan Shi ran while screaming in despair.
The commotion drew many people from the Lin Mansion out to see what was happening.
In the front courtyard, Lin Guangde rushed out from the main hall and reached Yan Shi in an instant.
“Yan Shi? What’s wrong?” Lin Guangde asked urgently.
“Master, save… save Yun’er!” Yan Shi cried, her emotions spiralling out of control.
Lin Guangde quickly took Lin Yun from her.
“What’s wrong with Yun’er?” Seeing Lin Yun’s pale face and unconscious state, Lin Guangde was startled.
“Master, I… I don’t know what happened. Yun’er suddenly cried out in pain and then fainted! Master, please… save Yun’er!” Yan Shi’s voice trembled, tears streaming down like a broken dam.
Lin Guangde immediately took Lin Yun’s hand to examine him.
“How could this be!” After checking, Lin Guangde’s expression changed drastically.
Hearing this, Yan Shi’s heart shuddered, and she staggered back three steps. If not for the maids who rushed to support her, she might have fainted on the spot.
“Master, what’s wrong!?” Yan Shi’s voice was weak.
“Don’t worry, Yan Shi. Yun’er’s condition isn’t life-threatening,” Lin Guangde said.
Hearing this, Yan Shi’s heart settled slightly, and she let out a long sigh of relief.
“Someone, escort Yan Shi back first,” Lin Guangde ordered.
“Yes,” several maids supported Yan Shi.
“Master, I… I want to stay with my son,” Yan Shi pleaded.
“I’ll carry Yun’er and go with you to Pleasant Garden,” Lin Guangde said.
With that, Lin Guangde carried Lin Yun and headed to Pleasant Garden.
In Lin Yun’s room.
Lin Yun had been placed on the bed, and Lin Guangde sat beside him.
“Yan Shi, sit down. I’ve used my energy to help him. Yun’er should wake up soon,” Lin Guangde said, looking at Yan Shi.
“Thank you, Master,” Yan Shi said, sitting by the bed and gently taking Lin Yun’s hand.
“Master, what’s wrong with Yun’er?” Yan Shi asked again.
Though Lin Guangde had said Lin Yun’s life wasn’t in danger, Yan Shi was still deeply worried seeing his condition.
Lin Guangde shook his head with closed eyes. “Yun’er’s body is in terrible condition, severely damaged. I’m afraid… he can no longer cultivate.”
“What… what?”
Yan Shi, struck as if by lightning, felt her vision darken.
“Yan Shi!” Lin Guangde quickly reached out to steady her.
“Take this,” Lin Guangde said, giving her a calming pill to swallow.
“Master, is there… is there no way at all? You’re an immortal. Can’t you find some herbs or treasures to help Yun’er recover?” Yan Shi asked with hopeful eyes.
Yan Shi knew how important cultivation was to Lin Yun.
“Yun’er’s condition is strange. Ordinary herbs or treasures, if given to him, would be too much for his weakened body to handle and could endanger his life. There might be treasures in the world that could heal him, but they are beyond my reach,” Lin Guangde said, shaking his head with a sigh.
“Father… do I… have no chance at all?” a weak voice spoke.
Lin Guangde and Yan Shi turned to see Lin Yun awake.
On his pale, youthful face was a look of unwillingness.
Clearly, he had heard their conversation.
“It’s alright, Yun’er. Even if you can’t cultivate, Father will take care of you for life, ensuring you live without worries. As long as you’re alive, that’s what matters most,” Lin Guangde said, forcing a smile to comfort Lin Yun.
“Father, I… I want to cultivate!” Lin Yun’s voice was weak but filled with determination and hope.
Yan Shi, standing beside him, had tears streaming down her face again.
Lin Yun’s words caused her immense heartache, knowing how passionate he was about cultivation.
“Why… why did this happen! Everything was fine before,” Yan Shi said sorrowfully.
