After entering the Divine Relic Ancient City, Lin Yun clearly felt the Tree of Origin inside his body fluctuate even more intensely.
This made him even more certain that a Heart of Origin was definitely present within the Divine Relic Ancient City.
However, according to the Tree of Origin’s sensing, it could only detect a general area, not a precise point.
That area lay toward the centre of the Divine Relic Ancient City.
“In the central district of the Divine Relic Ancient City there is a rather special place. A damaged formation remains there that people can study. It counts as one of the more famous spots in the entire Divine Relic Ancient City. I will first lead everyone there,” the white-haired elder who led the group announced.
He then guided the party toward the central district.
Since Lin Yun also intended to head to the middle area, he simply continued following them.
As he walked, Lin Yun observed his surroundings.
From the city’s layout, Lin Yun could tell this had never been a city meant for ordinary mortals.
It must once have been a closed city, built by a clan or great power solely for their own people to live and multiply.
What relieved Lin Yun most was that, if a Heart of Origin truly existed here, taking it should not be too difficult. At the very least, no overly powerful opponents would stand in his way.
He had already confirmed earlier that cultivators above the Eternal Life realm almost never came to the Divine Relic Ancient City.
This place was simply a training ground favoured by lower-realm cultivators. Here, he had nothing to fear.
“Although the danger level in the Divine Relic Ancient City is not considered high, I have heard that cultivators still die here quite often. Because so many come to train, some bandits also lurk inside to rob resources or even kill for goods,” Gong Zhan said.
“No matter. If you truly encounter danger you cannot handle, I can protect you all,” Lin Yun replied.
Gong Jiangxue gave a contemptuous cold laugh. “Hmph, another braggart. If you were really strong, you would have come alone long ago. Why tag along with our group? You would do well just to protect yourself.”
The party continued toward the city centre. Along the way they passed other groups and cultivators, but no fighting broke out.
Soon the group entered a vast plaza.
The white-haired elder explained that this was the central plaza of the Divine Relic Ancient City. It was enormous and could easily hold over a hundred million people without feeling crowded.
Their destination lay right in the middle of this central plaza.
The moment they stepped into the plaza, Lin Yun looked up. The huge central plaza indeed contained many groups and cultivators.
Some were even selling resources and items right there on the plaza.
“It is this plaza,” Lin Yun murmured to himself.
The fluctuation from the Tree of Origin covered exactly this plaza, yet it could not pinpoint a specific location.
But the plaza was wide open and empty. If a Heart of Origin really lay here, would it not have been discovered long ago?
“Are these not people from the Gong family? Yo, Gong Zhan is here too.”
A loud voice suddenly rang out.
Lin Yun looked up. A group of more than fifty people was walking toward them.
“It… it is Zhou Gao. He is actually in the Divine Relic Ancient City too!” Gong Zhan’s expression changed at once.
Everyone from the Gong family turned unsightly when they saw this new group.
“Gong Zhan, you know them?” Lin Yun asked, looking at him.
“We have bad blood. This Zhou Gao belongs to the nearby Heavenly Astral Gang. His elder brother holds considerable influence in the gang. Originally our Gong family had no grudge with the Heavenly Astral Gang, but once I offended Zhou Gao. He brought his brother to our home and caused trouble,” Gong Zhan explained, his face still looking unwell.
“You do not seem like the type to pick fights,” Lin Yun remarked.
“The Heavenly Astral Gang has quite a reputation in our area. I knew who he was and had no wish to provoke him. But last time, Zhou Gao came to Pingtan City for entertainment and openly tried to abduct respectable young women in the street.
“I happened to be passing by and could not stand it, so I scolded him. At the time he had no men with him while I had companions, so he could only back down. After exchanging harsh words, I left. But he went back and brought his brother to make trouble at our home. I stepped in to smooth things over, and in the end my father paid compensation and apologised before the matter was settled.”
