Lin Yun looked up at the Pavilion Master. The man wore a black robe, his aura perfectly restrained, yet he still radiated an invisible pressure.
“Elder Lu, when skill falls short, one must accept it. Causing a scene only brings shame!” The Pavilion Master’s gaze fell on Elder Lu, his voice deep and resonant.
The words hit Elder Lu like a bucket of ice water. He shuddered, instantly sobered.
“The Pavilion Master is right.” Elder Lu hurriedly bowed, not daring to argue.
“Step down first and calm yourself.” The Pavilion Master said to Elder Lu.
“Yes.” Elder Lu replied, then turned and left.
Once Elder Lu had gone, the Pavilion Master turned his attention to Lin Yun.
When Lin Yun felt that gaze upon him, his heart gave a slight jolt.
This was the first time he had been directly observed by a Supreme powerhouse.
“Young friend, your strength is remarkable. To defeat Elder Lu of the same realm so easily, and given that your age is clearly young while his spans a million years, yet you still displayed such brilliance. I daresay you could hold your own even against a Harmony Dao cultivator.” The Pavilion Master, hovering in the air, spoke to Lin Yun.
“You flatter me, Pavilion Master.” Lin Yun replied at once.
Inwardly, Lin Yun thought that this Pavilion Master was indeed reasonable. At the very least, he did not show favouritism.
After all, as an outsider, Lin Yun had worried the Pavilion Master might side with his own elder no matter what.
“However, you are not a member of our Double Honour Pavilion. Why have you come?” the Pavilion Master asked.
Elder Yuan Xia immediately stepped forward. “Pavilion Master, I brought him here. I was showing him around the pavilion and hoped to invite him to join us.”
Hearing this, the Pavilion Master looked at Lin Yun again. “With your strength, if you are willing to join our Double Honour Pavilion, a seat among the elders will certainly be reserved for you.”
Lin Yun was taken aback. Was the Pavilion Master of the Double Honour Pavilion personally inviting him?
It seemed his performance just now had been completely seen through.
That made sense. The commotion from a battle between two Void Dao experts would naturally draw the attention of the Pavilion Master.
“Pavilion Master, regarding that matter, I am still considering it.” Lin Yun replied.
This was the most tactful way he could phrase it.
After all, his original purpose in coming to the Double Honour Pavilion was to investigate the Origin Heart and find out where theirs was kept.
The idea of joining had only been raised by Yuan Xia. Lin Yun himself had never expressed any intention to become a member.
“Very well. If you decide you wish to develop within our Double Honour Pavilion, simply inform Yuan Xia and have him notify me. You are an excellent talent.” The Pavilion Master said.
Given his status, having extended one invitation and receiving no immediate acceptance, he naturally would not press further.
With that, the Pavilion Master turned and flew away.
Seeing the Pavilion Master depart, Yuan Xia addressed the gathered disciples. “Everyone, disperse.”
“Yes.” The disciples replied in unison and quickly scattered.
Lin Yun leapt down from the arena and approached Yuan Xia.
“Friend Yuan Xia, I truly apologise. This time I caused you trouble.” Lin Yun said with genuine regret.
“It’s nothing, no trouble at all. On the contrary, watching you defeat Elder Lu was immensely satisfying. Your strength is simply astonishing!” Yuan Xia laughed in admiration.
After a brief pause, he continued, “By the way, Brother Bei Chen, won’t you reconsider joining our Double Honour Pavilion?”
“I’ll think about it a bit more first.” Lin Yun answered.
Right now, Lin Yun still had a problem to solve. How was he going to obtain the Origin Heart held by the Double Honour Pavilion?
Or perhaps he could join as a guest elder and then negotiate with the Pavilion Master, trying to buy it no matter the cost?
Even if it were exorbitantly expensive, Lin Yun would sell everything he owned and find a way to gather the funds.
Of course, whether that plan would work was still uncertain.
Quite aside from whether the Double Honour Pavilion would agree to sell, there was the question of whether he could join under his current identity. Moreover, Lin Yun had to consider the consequences if he mentioned the Origin Heart. Would it expose the fact that he already possessed one? What risks might that bring?
After all, he still did not fully understand the secrets of the Tree of Origin.
“Fine, take your time to consider. After your display today, even the Pavilion Master took notice. If you decide to join in the future, it will be very straightforward.” Elder Yuan Xia said with a smile.
