The eastern district of Heart City was the main area where the Elves conducted their activities within the city.
The Pavilion Master led Lin Yun through several unremarkable turns in a quiet alley until a grand mansion appeared ahead.
“Friend Bei Chen, that mansion belongs to the strongest Elf currently residing in Heart City,” the Pavilion Master said, pointing forward.
With that, he guided Lin Yun towards the entrance.
The moment they reached the gate, Lin Yun spotted Zou Dongsheng standing there.
When Zou Dongsheng heard footsteps, he looked up and saw Lin Yun and the Pavilion Master approaching. For a second, both the Pavilion Master and Zou Dongsheng stared at each other in stunned silence.
Neither had expected to meet here.
After a brief pause.
“Zou Dongsheng… what are you doing here?” Lin Yun asked in surprise.
After all, Zou Dongsheng had already said there was nothing he could do, which clearly meant giving up on An Yun. Of course, according to him, it was not giving up, merely that no solution existed.
Yet here he was again.
“Young Master, I was about to ask you the same thing. Did you not say you were going out to train and seek opportunities?” Zou Dongsheng replied with a wry smile.
He had tried contacting Lin Yun several times with no reply, only for them to run into each other here.
Lin Yun felt a touch awkward.
“I believe our purposes are the same,” Lin Yun said.
Both of them were here to save An Yun, were they not?
At that moment, Zou Dongsheng at least breathed a small sigh of relief.
His greatest fear had been that Lin Yun would charge straight into Elven territory.
At least now, Lin Yun had come here instead.
“Zou Dongsheng, how did it go? Have you spoken to anyone?” Lin Yun asked.
“I have been waiting at this gate for half a day. I already had the guards pass on my request long ago, yet I still have not even seen this Elven powerhouse. I knew the hope was slim. I fear we will not even get an audience,” Zou Dongsheng said helplessly, shaking his head.
He understood the chances were tiny, but he still wanted to save An Yun. Having run out of options, he could only keep trying here.
“Let me give it a try,” Lin Yun said.
He turned to the Pavilion Master. “Pavilion Master, I will have to trouble you now.”
The Pavilion Master nodded, then stepped forward to the gate.
“I am the Master of the Myriad Treasures Pavilion, here to pay respects to Senior Cang Chen. Please announce my arrival,” he said to the Elven guards.
“I will inform him at once,” the guard replied, then hurried inside.
Lin Yun, the Pavilion Master, and Zou Dongsheng waited at the entrance.
Moments later, the guard returned.
“Pavilion Master, please follow me,” he said.
“Let us go,” the Pavilion Master said, leading Lin Yun and Zou Dongsheng into the mansion.
Once inside.
“I truly never expected to actually get in,” Zou Dongsheng marvelled.
Without the Pavilion Master’s reputation, even entering would have been a pipe dream.
“All I can do is help you meet this Elven powerhouse. As for rescuing anyone, that is beyond my ability. My influence does not stretch that far. I am afraid there is very little hope,” the Pavilion Master said.
In his view, rescuing someone from the Elves was not merely slim hope; it was practically impossible.
“Pavilion Master, I am already deeply grateful that you have helped us meet this Elf. How could I ask you to do more and rescue her yourself?” Lin Yun replied.
Inside the main hall of the mansion.
A strikingly handsome Elven man with long, pointed ears sat at the head of the hall.
He had been somewhat surprised to hear that the Master of the Myriad Treasures Pavilion wished to see him. Was there business to discuss? He had dealt with the Pavilion Master before when trading with humans.
With that in mind, he had just ordered the visitors to be brought in.
At that moment, the Elven guard led the three of them into the hall.
“Senior Cang Chen, it has been a long time,” the Pavilion Master said with a broad smile, cupping his fists in greeting.
“Pavilion Master, to what do I owe this sudden visit?” the Elven powerhouse asked calmly, his eyes still closed.
“Senior Cang Chen, I have come today to introduce these two gentlemen. They have a matter they wish to discuss with you,” the Pavilion Master said frankly.
“Please speak directly. What is it you wish to discuss?” the Elven powerhouse Cang Chen said.
