“Alright, thank you.” Lin Yun replied politely.
“We’re moving on.” The middle-aged elf waved his hand and led his team forward.
Lin Yun continued along the same path.
The squad walked ahead while Lin Yun followed roughly a kilometre behind.
After they had gone some distance, the group in front grew wary.
“Father, that fellow has been trailing us the whole time. Could he be planning to make a move on us?” a young female elf asked the middle-aged elf.
The middle-aged elf raised a hand, signalling the team to halt, then turned to look at Lin Yun.
“Hey, why are you following us?” he demanded.
“I’m heading to the city you mentioned, and this is the road I need to take. We simply happen to be going the same way. I’m not following you,” Lin Yun explained with a wry smile.
“You’d better keep a proper distance, or don’t blame me for being rude,” the middle-aged elf warned gravely.
“Fine, I’ll keep my distance,” Lin Yun could only answer with an awkward laugh.
Disguised as an elf, the last thing Lin Yun wanted was trouble.
After issuing their warning, the elves set off again. They increased their pace, clearly on high alert for some reason.
Lin Yun widened the gap to around ten kilometres.
Along the entire route, he encountered almost no other elves.
Another full day of travel passed.
Inside the elf squad ahead,
“Father, in nine more days we’ll reach safety and can deliver the goods. Choosing this abandoned route really was the secure choice,” the young female elf said.
“Though only nine days remain, we mustn’t let our guard down, especially about that fellow behind us. Something feels off,” the middle-aged elf replied cautiously.
“Father, if he really were from the Pudo Association, and if Ludo truly knew we took this path, they would have ambushed us directly instead of sending one person to tail us and put us on alert,” the young female elf pointed out.
“Hm, you make a fair point,” the middle-aged elf nodded.
While they were talking, a group of black-clad elves suddenly burst out from behind a huge boulder at the bend ahead.
“Attack!”
The black-clad elves instantly unleashed their assaults.
Numerous attacks formed from condensed divine sense rained down on the squad like a ferocious storm.
“Engage! Engage!”
The middle-aged elf roared repeatedly while hurriedly launching his own counter-attacks.
From far behind on the road, Lin Yun quickly noticed the commotion.
He sped up to investigate.
As he neared the battlefield, one of the black-clad elves immediately attacked him, evidently mistaking Lin Yun for part of the other group.
Facing the incoming strike condensed from divine sense, Lin Yun’s divine sense surged from his sea of consciousness and shattered the attack in an instant.
The opponent’s divine-sense realm was far lower than his own.
Lin Yun’s Origin Return divine sense was equivalent to saint realm. Even among elves, that was considered very respectable. After all, the elf race also had plenty of low-tier and mid-tier members.
An elf with Origin Return divine sense held roughly the same status in elf society as a saint-realm cultivator did among humans.
Lin Yun could have easily smashed that attack with a single punch or annihilated it with inner force, but to avoid exposing himself he used only divine sense. Any other method was out of the question.

The moment Lin Yun revealed his divine sense, both sides on the battlefield were stunned.
The ambushing black-clad elves had not expected the other side to have such a powerhouse; they had mistakenly assumed the person trailing behind belonged to the targeted squad.
The attacked squad was equally shocked. They had never imagined that the stranger who had asked for directions earlier was actually an Origin Return powerhouse!
“Senior, please save us!” The middle-aged elf who had given Lin Yun directions earlier immediately cried out for help.
Hearing this, the black-clad elves instantly realised that Lin Yun was not part of the other group after all.
“Origin Return powerhouse, the Pudo Association is carrying out a mission. We hope you will not interfere! Otherwise, you will bear the consequences!” the leader of the black-clad elves declared.
