Ancestral Conquest Chapter 50

“Good, good!” the man in the brocade robe nodded repeatedly, visibly shaken by the battlefield’s chaos.

He had never seen so many demons before, and he was afraid.

They quickly retreated.

Lin Yun, collecting spoils underwater, kept a close eye on the battlefield above.

“I can’t stay here any longer,” he thought.

Noticing many human teams withdrawing, Lin Yun realised he too must retreat.

With most human teams pulling back, staying would soon make escape impossible.

As for the Blood Demon Flower, given the current situation, Lin Yun dared not pursue it.

It seemed almost certain the demons would claim it.

However, the hundreds of demons were not entirely united.

When the flower was in human hands, they united against the humans. But once a demon held it, they fought among themselves, killing each other.

After extracting another demon core, Lin Yun surfaced and returned to the shore.

At that moment, Wu Chengtian also withdrew from the battlefield.

“Friend Lin Yun, we can’t stay here. The Blood Demon Flower is out of reach. Let’s go!” Wu Chengtian urged.

“Alright, let’s move!” Lin Yun nodded, joining him to meet Wu Yue and Wu Qing.

“You two, we need to leave now!” Wu Chengtian called to his brothers, and they quickly departed.

After escaping some distance, the four slowed down.

“I never imagined the fight for the Blood Demon Flower would turn into this. I didn’t expect the demons to snatch it in the end,” Wu Chengtian sighed.

“Such a pity. A treasure like that, and we could only watch it slip away,” Wu Yue lamented.

“There’s nothing we could do,” Wu Chengtian said.

“You three, we don’t need to rush off,” Lin Yun suddenly said.

“Not rush off?” The Wu brothers were stunned.

“Friend Lin Yun, are you still thinking of going for the Blood Demon Flower? That’s no joking matter!” Wu Chengtian said.

“I’m not saying we stay for the flower. The fight isn’t over yet. Even though most human teams have left, the demons will keep fighting among themselves, and more will die. Once their battle ends, we can return, clean up the battlefield, and collect more spoils,” Lin Yun explained.

“That’s a brilliant idea! What do you think, brother?” Wu Yue and Wu Qing’s eyes lit up.

“Yes, it’s a good plan. Let’s stay here for now and go back once the fighting stops,” Wu Chengtian nodded.

The four paused, waiting quietly.

After about twenty minutes, the distant commotion died down.

“Let’s go!” Lin Yun said.

They cautiously returned to the battlefield.

From a distance, they observed, confirming no demons remained at the lake.

The once chaotic lake now lay eerily silent.

The water, faintly red with blood, was littered with floating corpses.

The gruesome scene spoke to the battle’s ferocity.

“Let’s clean up the battlefield!” Wu Chengtian said, charging forward.

Lin Yun, Wu Yue, and Wu Qing followed, rushing out.

At the lake, they swiftly began breaking open demon heads to extract cores, also collecting storage rings and weapons from fallen cultivators.

“What’s that?” Moments into their work, several teams returned.

Clearly, these teams also aimed to scavenge.

“We claim these spoils!” Wu Chengtian declared, unleashing his Transcendent Realm aura.

Faced with his power, the teams retreated reluctantly.

With Wu Chengtian’s Transcendent Realm presence, ordinary teams dared not challenge them.

Fortunately, none of the returning teams had Transcendent Realm cultivators.

Lin Yun couldn’t help but appreciate having a Transcendent Realm ally. Without Wu Chengtian, these teams, seeing Lin Yun alone as an Initial Saint Realm cultivator, would surely have attacked.

With around twenty people across those teams, Lin Yun alone couldn’t have handled them.

Wu Chengtian’s presence ensured they retreated without a fight.

The four worked quickly, soon finishing their collection.

“We shouldn’t linger. Let’s go,” Wu Chengtian said.

After gathering their spoils, they left swiftly.

Since demon cores needed to be used quickly, they found a hidden cave nearby.

“Let’s use the cores here,” Wu Chengtian suggested.

“Alright!” Lin Yun, Wu Yue, and Wu Qing nodded.

In the cave, each found a spot, sat cross-legged, and began absorbing the cores.

Lin Yun tallied his haul: one hundred nineteen demon cores.

His total surpassed the Wu brothers’, as he had collected many underwater during the initial clash.

When the demons first attacked, both demon and human casualties were high, and Lin Yun had claimed those cores.

Most of his one hundred nineteen cores came from that time, with only a few from the second trip.

Crucially, among them were one seventh-grade core and one eighth-grade core.

These were beyond Lin Yun’s usual reach. Seventh-grade cores were unattainable, let alone eighth-grade.

The remaining one hundred seventeen cores ranged from fourth to sixth grade.

Looking at his haul, especially the two high-grade cores, Lin Yun was thrilled.

Though he didn’t get the Blood Demon Flower, this harvest left him quite satisfied.

Given his current strength, claiming the Blood Demon Flower was indeed beyond him.
