The so-called heroic spirit is a state in which the soul of a deceased person returns to the present world through certain mediums.
In some respects, vengeful spirits and evil ghosts share very similar characteristics to heroic spirits, but their mediums differ. The medium for heroic spirits is the spiritual contract with the summoning host and the supply of magical power, whereas vengeful spirits and evil ghosts rely on resentment to provide the spiritual contract and power.
Among heroic spirits, Debbie’s Gilga is different. Her medium, apart from the contract with Debbie, requires minimal magical power. The golden sword aura primarily sustains her power form.
As for Godo, before his death, he made an oath to himself. This oath serves as his spiritual contract, and his source of power comes solely from his soul’s strength and his withered body.
He transformed himself into a heroic spirit through his own will. Such a heroic spirit is actually more akin to vengeful spirits and evil ghosts. However, like them, he cannot fully unleash his power as most heroic spirits can. Heroic spirits have a body formed by the host’s magical power, but Godo can only use his withered body to act.
Fortunately, before his death, he possessed the power to become a sword saint. This power made his body nearly immortal. Even if his soul’s strength is depleted each time, as long as his body remains intact, his soul’s power slowly recovers. However, over centuries, the body and soul power sustaining his heroic spirit state have been gradually weakening.
Now, the demon Lier has launched another assault, and the silent guardian skeleton moves once more.
He gripped his rusty longsword.
That sword, brought from Windrock City, was just an ordinary iron sword. An ordinary iron sword would likely have decayed after centuries, but Godo’s sword is different. Though rusted, it remains as strong as steel, for it is the sword of a person with the power of a sword saint.
Ye Chui, Cass, and Guni were entangled in a relentless struggle with the demon’s minion, Crete. They had no time to focus on anything else. However, Debbie, as the summoner, and Windsor, with her low combat ability, stood outside the battlefield. They witnessed the skeletal swordsman rise with his sword, saw him brandish it to confront the evil forces surging from the cave.
Debbie’s small face showed an expression of utter amazement as she edged closer to the cave. “Oh, oh, oh, he’s moving, he’s moving.”
“Roar.”
As heroic spirit Godo charged into the cave, a powerful aura surged out. Debbie let out a startled “ouch” and fell to the ground. Windsor hurriedly ran to her side to help her up. Debbie, supporting herself with both hands on the ground, kept her eyes wide open, staring towards the cave. She saw the skeletal swordsman fighting for his oath.
Powerful, with a shock that reached straight to the heart.
But soon, Debbie furrowed her brows.
“Godo doesn’t seem to… hold on much longer.”
On the other side, the demon’s minion Crete had fully transformed into a horrific tumour-like monster. Its tentacles flailed about, emitting sharp, piercing roars. Each tentacle possessed terrifying combat strength. Even if a tentacle was severed, a new one would immediately extend from the tumour-like monster, making it extremely difficult to deal with.
Cass unleashed his [Gale Slash] sword technique directly at the tumour’s main body, but it only left a gruesome wound. It couldn’t inflict serious damage, and even that wound would quickly heal itself.
“It seems to completely defeat it, we need to strike from within,” Ye Chui muttered, panting slightly as he stared at the massive tumour monster. He quietly made up his mind. “Looks like that’s the only way.”
A slender tentacle suddenly descended from the air, aiming to attack Ye Chui.
[Guardian of Safety] activated automatically. An armoured swordsman materialised, slashing at the terrifying tentacle with a single strike, severing it. The armoured swordsman then turned to Ye Chui. But at that moment, he suddenly noticed Ye Chui standing two metres away, with a slender tentacle already coiling around Ye Chui’s waist.
The armoured swordsman, materialised by [Guardian of Safety], could only stay within one metre of Ye Chui. How had Ye Chui suddenly moved away while it was entangled with the tentacle? Since Ye Chui’s iPad upgraded [Guardian of Safety] into its armoured form, the armoured swordsman had always appeared unconscious, never communicating with Ye Chui.
But at this moment, seeing Ye Chui’s “reckless” behaviour, an exclamation came from behind the armour-covered face: “Bloody hell.”
That was an exclamation only Ye Chui would use, spoken in a somewhat stiff male voice.
Yet Ye Chui, ensnared by the tentacle, wore a calm smile and even had time to say one sentence.
“I will be back.”
Swoosh.
Ye Chui was yanked away by the tentacle. A massive crack opened on the tumour demon’s body, like a horrific mouth, swallowing Ye Chui whole. Everyone was stunned, gaping at the scene. Bloody hell, Ye Chui was eaten?
But in the moment they were dazed, they suddenly noticed something wrong with the tumour monster. Its body began to swell, cracks appearing on its surface. Bang, bang, bang. Holes burst open one after another on the demon’s body. That was Ye Chui’s [Starfire Barrage].
The tumour monster soon became riddled with holes. Then [Starfire Barrage] turned into [Full Firepower]. Beams of fire blasted out from the tumour monster’s body, black blood splattering everywhere. Its body writhed and struggled but could not withstand a terminator going all out inside it.
Finally, with a sharp “roar” – the cry of the black-gold flame dragon, Long Bao – the tumour monster completely collapsed. Ye Chui, standing on the dragon’s back, soared into the sky. The tumour monster’s body disintegrated into a pool of black water. A humanoid form tried to coalesce within it – that was Crete – but ultimately, it could only dissolve in unwillingness, fear, and regret, completely losing all vitality.
Ye Chui had seized the opportunity while the armoured swordsman, activated by passive defence, was entangled with the tentacles. He deliberately got close to the tumour monster, allowing it to pull him inside, where he wreaked havoc and summoned the dragon to ultimately defeat the terrifying demon.
Realising Ye Chui’s plan and seeing its success, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
The armoured swordsman seemed to relax slightly as well. Its face, completely obscured by armour, appeared to glance up at the dragon and Ye Chui in the sky. It seemed to recall something, letting out a barely audible sigh. “Truly as reckless as the master. Heh, Long Bao, it’s been a while.”
Clearly, this armoured swordsman, formed by [Guardian of Safety], possessed its own personality and consciousness. Its figure then vanished.
“Roar, roar.”
Long Bao landed, covered in black blood, restlessly shaking its body, complaining to Ye Chui. “This baby is a dragon raised by the gods. Don’t make this baby deal with such trash. My beautiful scales are all dirty.”
Only after getting familiar with this dragon would one realise it had none of a dragon’s majesty, more like a whining, playful goofball.
Basic attack spell [Dance of the Water Snake].
As Ye Chui jumped off the dragon’s back, he cast this spell, conjuring a water snake to coil around himself and Long Bao, cleaning off the stains. He glanced at the pool of black blood nearby, knowing he had completely defeated this disgusting, terrifying demon minion.
But before he could celebrate, a terrifying roar echoed.
The ground began to tremble.
The nearby holy mountain started shaking violently.
The demon Lier, sealed beneath the holy mountain, seemed to sense its minion’s death. It grew frantic, restless, and ferocious. A terrifying aura burst from the dark cave. Anyone could sense the horrific battle unfolding within. Ye Chui and the others hurried to the cave’s entrance. They could see the skeletal swordsman, still stubbornly swinging his rusty sword.
“The ancestor doesn’t seem to hold up,” Guni said nervously, clutching her massive stone sword, ready to rush in and assist. But Lesha quickly stopped her.
The battle between ancestor Godo and demon Lier far exceeded their current level. Lesha shook her head at Guni, signalling her not to act rashly, while quickly flipping to the recovery chapter in her holy book to restore everyone’s magical power.
Facing the furious assault of demon Lier, heroic spirit Godo was clearly struggling to hold on. With a loud boom, the skeletal swordsman was blasted out of the cave, nearly collapsing. He seemed to glance at Ye Chui and the others, a glimmer of light flickering in his skeletal eyes. Then he raised his sword.
Against demon Lier’s near all-out attack, heroic spirit Godo had to unleash his most powerful force.
Sword Saint Technique: [Oath of the Guardian Sword].
A towering sword aura shot out from the rusty sword.
Powerful energy began to gather around Godo’s body.
An oath forged at the cost of an immortal sword saint’s realm.

A hoarse, hollow voice echoed in Ye Chui’s and the others’ ears. Terrifying sword aura rippled from the rusty sword, controlled by Godo, blasting into the cave.
Rumble.
Terrifying booms echoed continuously from within the holy mountain, accompanied by the demon’s horrific roars. Black rocks tumbled down from the mountain, crashing to the ground. Dazzling sword light blinded the eyes. Everyone was immersed in the sharp, sacred sword shadow, immersed in the oath-bound guardian sword aura of sword saint Godo.
