The so-called ferocious beasts are a collective term for those wild animals with a savage nature. Their bloodlines carry a trace of demonic beast blood or have undergone mutation due to some influence. Compared to demonic beasts, they are significantly weaker in both combat strength and intelligence, but they are fundamentally different from ordinary wild animals.
It is said that in the Age of the Gods, demonic beasts were almost everywhere on this continent. In some ancient forests, groups of demonic beasts would gather, occasionally triggering terrifying beast tides due to certain incidents. These were the most dreadful disasters, capable of wiping out an entire city in an instant!
Nowadays, demonic beasts are nearly extinct, and such horrific disasters are rare. However, some evil and ferocious beasts may still band together. For instance, what Ye Chui and his group are currently facing can be considered a terrifying “ferocious beast tide.”
Ye Chui had just blasted through the wall of the forbidden city when a horde of these fearsome beasts immediately charged out. They might have originally been ordinary animals, but living in the forbidden zone and succumbing to the devil’s temptation, they underwent an evil mutation, altering their forms and becoming far more cruel and bloodthirsty. The one-horned wolves Ye Chui’s group encountered near the Holy Mountain were one type of such ferocious beasts.
It seems the sealed devil has already discerned the purpose of Ye Chui and his group, manipulating these terrifying beasts to specifically intercept them. However, how could mere ferocious beasts possibly stop Ye Chui’s group?
The heroic spirit Godo is leading the charge against the countless evil beasts!
The sword in his hand radiates powerful sword energy, unstoppable!
A beast with three pairs of insect-like jointed legs, yet covered in fur with a wolf’s head, leaps down from above, baring its mouth full of black fangs and extending a tongue lined with barbs. But before it can land on Godo, the sword energy surrounding his body acts like a web, slashing through the beast’s body in all directions, instantly reducing it to chunks of flesh.
Feeling the surging magic power within him, Godo lets out an excited howl.
This magic power comes from the offerings of the Holy Light Forest’s residents. Even though he is far from them now, with Guni nearby as a medium, he can still continuously draw on this magical sustenance. Godo, who has guarded the Holy Mountain (Dragon Dung Mountain) for centuries, has always faced terrifying demonic creatures. He gained immense power but rarely had the chance to use it freely against others. Now, he feels exhilarated.
Amid his howl, the chubby Godo suddenly swings his sword, unleashing a sword technique he created over his centuries of guardianship.
Advanced Attack Sword Technique: [Hero Godo’s Charge]
(Since it’s a self-created technique, the name is quite casual…)
As the technique is executed, streams of sword energy shoot from his blade, transforming into thin threads that spread like living venomous snakes, weaving and darting. This technique was originally invented to counter the terrifying tentacles of the demonic creature Lier. Countless ferocious beasts are instantly sliced apart, their bodies severed, blood splattering everywhere.
The chunks of flesh form a fan-shaped spread in front of Godo!
The remaining beasts hesitate, too afraid to charge forward, frozen in place.
Godo stands tall with his sword, striking a heroic pose, his heart filled with exhilaration. His youthful spirit, rekindled from his days as a young man, burns fiercely.
He can’t help but think that seeing him unleash such immense power, Ye Chui and the others must be in awe. He’s rehearsed this heroic pose countless times while guarding that pile of dung for decades. (Guarding for decades gets boring, you know…)
Then he turns to look at Ye Chui’s group, ready to receive their awestruck gazes—
“President, could you make the flames a bit stronger? This meat is almost done.”
“Oi, Ye Chui, can you stabilise your flame magic? It keeps flickering, and my pot of coffee is about to be ruined.”
“Green, pass me another honey pastry. They’re too delicious.”
“Auntie, eating too many sweets will make you fat. Those honey pastries were meant for me. You’re already chubby enough, and more sweets will make you gain weight.”
“Little miss, I’m not fat at all. Even if I gain weight, it’ll only be in the right places. Sweets are my favourite.”
“Auntie, you, you…”
“Green, turn the meat, it’s about to burn. Don’t forget the salt… Oh, Godo, you’ve killed another bunch of beasts? Nice work, keep it up!”
In Godo’s view, the monster-hunting squad trailing behind him is leisurely strolling along. Ye Chui extends both hands, each palm conjuring a flame. On his right, Green is roasting a piece of meat while also fetching Debbie’s hidden stash of pastries from his storage space. On Ye Chui’s left, Debbie is brewing coffee in a pot.
The little Valkyrie Ji Ji flutters her wings, using her tiny light sword to skewer a piece of roasted meat, diligently feeding it to Ye Chui’s mouth. After shouting “Nice work, keep it up” to Godo, Ye Chui lets out a string of yelps: “Hot, hot, hot…”
Cass and Winsa trail at the back, clinging closely to each other. A rat-like beast with bone spikes and scales suddenly lunges from the side. Cass, one arm around his beloved, swings his greatsword with the other, smashing the poor beast into a bloody pulp. As if nothing happened, he sheathes his sword and continues whispering sweet nothings to his lifelong love.
This world is cruel, and they seize every chance to show their affection…
In Godo’s eyes, this group treads through a sea of blood and gore, yet they exude the relaxed air of a leisurely stroll.
Moments ago, Godo felt great about himself, but now he feels like a fool, fighting monsters alone at the front while the others… Are you lot here for a picnic?
At least Guni is somewhat decent, holding her stone sword and staying vigilant. As expected of his descendant, she hasn’t joined the others in their nonsense… But that thought crumbles as Green hands her a piece of roasted meat. Guni promptly joins Ye Chui’s leisurely crew, waving at Godo: “Ancestor, you’re the strongest. Mmm… this meat is delicious.”
“Tasty, right? This is demonic beast meat. We didn’t have much left, so let’s feast this time,” Ye Chui says, chewing. Noticing Godo’s stiff pause, he adds, “Godo, keep up the good work. We’ll support you from back here! Though, we might not save any beast meat for you. Your seventeenth-generation descendant has quite the appetite…”
“…” To be blunt, Godo wants to drop his sword and quit.
Is this how you treat a heroic spirit? He’s a half-step Sword Saint, the guardian spirit of Holy Light Forest, not your hired labourer…
Another wave of beasts charges recklessly. Godo, with no time to think, swings his sword to fend them off. His chubby face carries a hint of frustration, but he’s not truly upset. As a heroic spirit, he feels no fatigue, while Ye Chui’s group, after relentless battles, is likely exhausted. Their carefree attitude is likely a way to seize every chance to recover magic power!
Yes, that must be it. Thinking this way makes it easier to accept… the chubby man consoles himself.
With Godo leading the charge, only a few beasts slip past to attack Ye Chui’s group, but they handle them with ease.
As they progress, Ye Chui keeps an eye on the iPad’s point changes. Notably, when he blasted the city wall and triggered the beast tide, the Demon Seal game activated a side quest: “Kill 300 ferocious beasts, reward 1000 points.”
Godo has already taken down over 100 beasts!
Each beast yields about 20 points, stronger than those encountered at Dragon Dung Mountain. Since Godo is part of Ye Chui’s monster-hunting squad, the points from his kills accumulate to Ye Chui. By the time they reach the devil, Ye Chui could earn at least 7000 points!
Enough to unlock two random [Insights]!
It’s almost too awesome to imagine!
On the iPad’s map, the beasts appear as small red dots. But suddenly, Ye Chui notices something, his eyes widening in surprise. Among the small red dots, four slightly larger ones have appeared. If the smaller dots represent ordinary monsters, these larger ones could be considered elite monsters.
“Are those the followers?” Ye Chui’s expression turns serious as he warns his companions, “Be careful. Some tough ones have shown up.”
There were four follower nuns who went with Talbot to the forbidden zone’s centre, matching the four larger red dots on the map. Could they be the ones?
Shortly after Ye Chui’s warning, Reisha, standing beside him, senses something and looks toward a cluster of black trees. With a rustling sound, a terrifying humanoid monster emerges.
Though humanoid, its slender body is twisted, faintly clad in a nun’s robe. One arm is shrivelled, the other unnaturally elongated with fingers turned into razor-sharp claws. Its face is blurry, revealing only a mouth full of pointed teeth. The sight reminds Ye Chui of the nurse monsters from Silent Hill in another world.
Judging by her clothing, she must be one of Talbot’s nuns.
“Haibi?” Reisha’s shocked cry confirms Ye Chui’s guess. “How did you turn into this?” She quickly explains to Ye Chui and the others, “This is the blonde nun I told you about. She was always against me in Wind Rock City’s church. How did she become like this?”
“The blonde nun?” Ye Chui vaguely recalls her, as she was the only nun among Talbot’s group, her golden hair striking. Seeing her now sends a chill through him.
“Reisha…” Haibi hisses in an inhuman, raspy voice. “I’ve received God’s favour. Look at me now… Am I beautiful?” As she speaks, she waves her claw with sharp fingers, though her eyes are no longer there.
The sight sends shivers through Ye Chui and the others.
Though Reisha dislikes Haibi, seeing her like this stirs pity. Opening her magic book, she steps forward. “Your body is filled with evil power. Where’s Bishop Talbot? What happened to him?”
“Hiss!” The nun monster’s mouth splits open, far larger than a human’s, nearly half her head, and she lunges at Reisha.
Just as Ye Chui’s heart races with tension, Reisha, prepared, begins chanting scriptures swiftly.
The Purification Chapter.
Haibi has clearly mutated into some evil creature, and the Purification Chapter will deal maximum damage to her!
A holy light descends from the sky, enveloping Haibi.
As Reisha chants, it seems something is tugging at Haibi’s soul. Ye Chui has seen Reisha use the Purification Chapter before, but he notices her power seems weaker than at Beheading Cliff. Still, Haibi’s writhing and roaring in the holy light show the scripture’s potency.
But just as Ye Chui relaxes, and even Reisha thinks victory is assured, Haibi in the holy light suddenly grows fiercer. Her terrifying claw lunges at Reisha.
At the same time, with a boom, Reisha’s Bible bursts into flames, crumbling to ash!
“I’ve seen God. I’ve received God’s favour, and God has long abandoned you!”
Follower nuns rely on the Bible to cast holy words. Without it, they’re ordinary. Now, Reisha’s Bible has disintegrated under some force, stripping her of her nun’s power!
Reisha is momentarily stunned.
“Watch out!” Ye Chui, ever vigilant, reacts with alarm, casting [Starfire Snipe]. With a boom, a burst of blood erupts from Haibi’s claw, but it doesn’t stop her. She grabs Reisha, her seemingly frail, twisted legs kicking the ground, and swiftly drags her into the nearby black forest.
