Code Mage Chapter 167

As Ye Chui mastered dream magic and began to overwhelm Yanmo in his mental world, in the real world, within the forbidden land of the Sword Burial Ground, Ye Chui’s physical body knelt motionless on the ground. Opposite him, Talbot sat in the same posture. Both had blood-red eyes, a strange connection still lingering between them.

Debbie, Green, Lesha, Cass, Winsa, and Gordo surrounded them. This clash in the mental world was far beyond their ability to intervene. They could only place their hopes in Ye Chui, offering their silent blessings.

Talbot no longer spoke, but a sinister grin remained on his bloodied face.

The group was fraught with tension. Lesha sat cross-legged beside Ye Chui, frantically flipping through the Holy Bible, searching for a solution. The entire book was written in mysterious divine script. Beyond sensing a faint connection to faith, she could not harness its power.

Debbie was perhaps the most anxious of all. The young girl paced restlessly around Ye Chui. She was the first to meet him, initially partnering to earn money for her journey home. Through countless adventures, Ye Chui had become one of the most important people in her life.

Now, with Ye Chui in grave danger, her heart was in turmoil.

The Valkyrie, now a little girl named Jiji, watched Debbie pace, her small face filled with innocent worry.

The others’ emotions were equally complex.

If Yanmo succeeded in possessing Ye Chui’s body, how could they bear to fight his physical form?

“Ah!”

A sudden scream rang out from Talbot’s mouth. His grinning face twisted into fear, his body trembling violently.

This time, Ye Chui did not mirror his actions or sounds.

“Ah! Stop, this isn’t fair! Stop!” Talbot’s panicked cries continued as he staggered to his feet, only to collapse again with a wail of despair and helplessness, as if being overwhelmed.

Ye Chui suddenly stood. Debbie noticed the blood-red hue in his eyes rapidly fading. He advanced toward Talbot, his gaze sharp enough to kill.

“Ye Chui?” Debbie called out in surprise.

Ye Chui did not respond to her. Instead, in a cold, unmistakably Ye Chui voice, he said to Talbot, “Get out of my head!”

“Ah!” Talbot let out another terrified scream, blood spraying from his mangled mouth. His body collapsed backward, looking pitiful and defeated. He scrambled to rise, trembling with fear as he looked at Ye Chui. “You, how did you do it… How could you suddenly master dream magic…”

Against mental invasion attacks, dream magic’s self-defence is the most effective. Yanmo had sensed Ye Chui’s presence since entering this relic world and was certain Ye Chui had no knowledge of dream magic before the invasion. How could he master it so quickly?

“Main character aura. You wouldn’t understand,” Ye Chui said with a cold smile. A faint image of a massive cannon, [Second Battalion Commander’s Italian Cannon], appeared around him, its barrel aimed at Talbot’s broken, weakened body.

“No, I can’t die by your hands!” Talbot scrambled to his feet, attempting to flee.

But with a resounding boom, Talbot’s body shattered, leaving a crater where he stood. Ye Chui’s cannon blast reduced him to fragments.

The terrifying demon was finally defeated.

Ye Chui exhaled heavily, still shaken by the mental world battle. Everything there felt dreamlike, with an unreal quality upon waking, yet the experiences were vivid. The situation had been incredibly tense, but after risking everything to comprehend [Matrix Infinity] and creating countless clones to overwhelm the demon, it felt like an exhilarating dream.

He glanced at the flattened ground ahead, caused by his earlier [Explosion is Justice] spell. The blast radius was modest compared to McKenzie’s [Ice Age Descent], which had consumed all his magic. Ye Chui’s magic was limited, but with enough power, he could potentially destroy the entire relic world with one shot. For now, he was satisfied with this range.

He turned to his stunned companions.

“Ye Chui?” Debbie asked hesitantly.

“It’s me,” Ye Chui said, smiling and nodding.

Debbie rushed toward him. Cass, still cautious, tried to hold her back, unsure if this was truly Ye Chui. But Debbie threw herself into his arms.

She didn’t need confirmation. She knew it was him.

Caught off guard, Ye Chui hesitated before gently hugging her, smiling. “It’s okay. I’ve dealt with him.”

After a while, as the others began to feel awkward watching, Debbie stepped back, rubbing her eyes and lowering her head. Ye Chui chuckled, his gaze shifting to Lesha, his heart racing. Was this a post-battle reward? Then…

“President, you’re finally back!” Green rushed forward, hugging Ye Chui tightly, overwhelmed with relief.

Ye Chui’s face fell. Seriously, why is a grown man copying her hug? Get out of the way! He forced a grateful expression, patting Green’s shoulder. “Heh, I’m fine, aren’t I…”

Pushing Green aside, Ye Chui turned to Lesha with a smile. “The dream world was dangerous…”

A deafening rumble interrupted him. A bolt of lightning, thick as a waist, flashed across the sky, and the ground shook violently, as if the apocalypse had arrived. Everyone was stunned. Ye Chui’s face paled. Was the demon still alive?

He quickly checked his iPad grimoire’s map. The large red dot representing the demon was gone, and his game interface confirmed its death. So what caused this upheaval?

“This has never happened here before!” Gordo said, panicked.

Debbie, recovering from her earlier shyness, suddenly realised something. She hurriedly said to Ye Chui, “Remember our last adventure in the Gods’ Relic? After killing the demon, that relic world began to collapse!”

“Holy crap, is this world collapsing too?” Ye Chui was shocked. If the relic world collapsed, they would be sucked into the endless void, a fate even the strongest swordsmen or mages couldn’t survive.

Ye Chui quickly retrieved a summoning token from his iPad grimoire but frowned. There were only five tokens in this relic world. They had collected four, with the fifth held by the Fourth Prince. That meant they could only take twenty-eight people out.

But the Holy Light Forest had over a hundred residents. Ye Chui couldn’t abandon them.

Gordo realised this too, looking worriedly toward the direction the Holy Light Forest residents had gone. “We need to join them first!”

Without hesitation, they set off toward the residents’ location.

The ground continued to shake, and the sky roared with chaos.

In a desolate grassland of the Sword Burial Ground relic world, a panicked figure ran frantically, the Fourth Prince, who had fled Holy Light Forest. He looked dishevelled, his clothes torn, his body covered in wounds, and his hair dyed green with lemon grass juice, glaringly conspicuous.

After leaving Holy Light Forest, he had encountered a pack of mountain cats, barely escaping with [Earth Escape], though not without injuries.

This relic world’s dangers far exceeded his expectations. Regret consumed him. He had tried to activate his teleportation token to leave, but to his horror, it failed.

The world’s spacetime was distorted, rendering the token’s spatial magic array useless.

Was he doomed to stay here forever?

No, he was a prince, destined to be emperor. His precious life couldn’t end here.

In despair, the Fourth Prince collapsed on the grass, sobbing uncontrollably.

Then, as if the heavens heard his pleas, the teleportation token in his hand suddenly glowed. Teleportation was about to begin!

“The token’s activated!” The Fourth Prince was ecstatic, clutching it as white light enveloped him, the power of space pulling him back to the real world.

But at that moment, a black shadow darted across the grassland, rushing toward him. The prince barely glimpsed it before it entered his body. He screamed, and in the next moment, he vanished from the relic world’s grassland.

“The token’s activated!” Ye Chui noticed the anomaly. “How is this happening? I didn’t activate it. Why did it start on its own?”

“My two tokens are activating too!” Cass pulled out two tokens from his pocket, shocked. They glowed in his hands, taken from dead adventurers earlier.

Another token was in Green’s [Storage Space]. He retrieved it, finding it also activated.

“This is impossible!” Cass exclaimed. He knew the tokens’ mechanics: they activated simultaneously upon entering the relic world, but could be used independently to leave. Yet now, some anomaly had triggered them all, forcing their departure.

Was it because the relic world was collapsing?

They were still far from the Holy Light Forest residents.

The tokens activated quickly.

White light enveloped the group.

“Tell my family about me,” Gordo suddenly said to Ye Chui, resolute. He dashed away from the group.

“Ancestor!” Guni tried to follow.

But a force pulled her back to Ye Chui’s side. “Guni, go with Ye Chui to the outside world. Please take care of her,” Gordo’s voice echoed from afar.

With a flash of white light, Ye Chui, Guni, Debbie, Lesha, Winsa, Cass, and Green vanished.

They left the relic world.

During the dizzying spatial teleportation, Ye Chui realised a terrifying possibility. When they entered the relic world, time had shifted, creating a gap of over two hundred years for some adventurers. Would the same happen now? Had decades or centuries passed outside during their few days in the relic world?

Anything was possible.

The Sword Burial Ground relic world continued to tremble. Lightning flashed across the sky, and deep fissures cracked the earth. Gordo knew this world was like a land floating in the void, now breaking apart, on the verge of collapse.

Using his fastest speed, he reached the edge of the relic world, hundreds of miles away, finding the panicked Holy Light Forest residents.

To his relief, the apocalyptic phenomena suddenly ceased, as if the world’s collapse had stopped.

Nothing could be more uplifting.

Gordo thanked the heavens for protecting his descendants and began leading the residents to find a new home. Then he noticed something new at the edge of the vast relic world: a new continent.

Gordo was certain it hadn’t existed before.

Perhaps the earlier apocalyptic event had caused another fragment of a Gods’ Relic to collide with this world?

With caution, apprehension, and curiosity, Gordo led a few brave Holy Light Forest warriors to this new continent, roughly a tenth the size of the Sword Burial Ground. There, he discovered a shattered palace covered in gold and a mountain resembling a dragon’s head…
