Code Mage Chapter 191

“Three people?” Old Harley interrupted the boy’s words. “But only two of us walked into the wolf mist.”

Saying this, he also looked at Green, as if seeking confirmation from Green.

“It was indeed two people.” Green nodded, yet his face carried surprise. Why could that divine woman predict these things? She also said she could help them find the Guild Leader and Miss Debbie. As for three people… perhaps it was because Debbie had summoned Jiji or Gilga?

“The Divine Lady often makes some prophecies, but few of them come true. This time is the same…” Old Harley continued.

Lessa, however, interrupted his words: “But she knows about the disappearance of Little Brother and the others. We must go to the mountain village to meet this Divine Lady!”

The carriage stopped outside the village. Lessa, Green, Jacob, and Ginny got off the carriage one after another. They were alert in their demeanour. When they saw the group of villagers dressed in tattered clothes, who were guarding the village entrance and looking at them with gazes of reverence and curiosity, their alertness turned into puzzlement. These villagers seemed truly ordinary. No aura of threat could be felt from them.

“This Green Leaf Village is a bit strange. We must be careful and cautious later. Perhaps this is a trap set by the Fourth Prince’s people for Little Brother.” Lessa held the Holy Bible in her arms and whispered a reminder to the people beside her.

In the Casual Magic Guild, Ye Chui and Debbie were undoubtedly the number one and number two figures respectively. Lessa was the number three figure. Green, who held a pile of titles, had some objections to this, but he could only accept his fate. Who made him not a great beauty with an ambiguous relationship with the Guild Leader…

Because of Ye Chui and Debbie’s disappearance, Old Harley felt some guilt on his face. He had only just accepted Ye Chui and the others’ hospitality that morning. Ye Chui and they had decided to come to Green Leaf Village with him because of his words, yet they had encountered the wolf mist. This honest village farmer felt vaguely self-reproachful. He personally led Lessa and the other four into the village. The other villagers curiously surrounded them and followed at their sides.

“Does that Divine Lady really know where the Guild Leader is?” Jacob asked Lessa in a low voice with some worry.

“Who knows? Perhaps she is just putting on a mysterious act. But no matter what, we must meet her.” The one who answered was Green. Green had already taken out his brick. While speaking, he vigilantly scanned the surroundings.

This dilapidated village seemed to have existed for some years. Even some very ancient buildings could be seen. Upon just entering the village, two crumbling city walls could be seen. The houses in the village were mostly in ruins, but some traces of their former appearance could vaguely be seen. It was as if a long time ago, this place had some very grand buildings.

For a village located on the Elven Plains, this was very strange.

Lessa was somewhat concerned about this place and kept frowning, as if pondering something.

“The Divine Lady is just ahead. The grand hall under the sacred tree is her residence.” Old Harley, who was leading the way, introduced at this moment. His finger pointed to the front, which was the central position of Green Leaf Village.

A huge white dead tree was stretching its branches towards the sky. It looked like it had no idea how long it had lived. From its appearance, it could not be identified as any kind of tree. It was now winter, and the leaves had completely fallen off, giving a sense of desolation. However, Green, Lessa, and the others felt that this tree might have died long ago. Even if spring or summer came, not a single green leaf would grow again.

This tree seemed to hold great significance for Green Leaf Village. A circle of railings surrounded its base below, and the ground was swept clean. Beside the big tree was a building that, though dilapidated, still retained some grandeur. The style of that house was somewhat strange, similar to a hall, yet completely different from the halls in places like Windrock City or Stan Town. It had endured long years, ruined and lacking repairs, but it vaguely retained its original form. It was completely different from the other dilapidated village huts in the village, displaying a sense of sacredness.

Lessa and the other four stood under the dead tree. Their gazes were subconsciously drawn to this big tree. They felt an indescribably strange sensation in their hearts. Although the tree was dead, it seemed to possess life. Standing under the tree, there was an illusion that one’s soul was being watched…

“This tree is the sacred tree of Green Leaf Village. If her origins were spoken of, it would shock many people’s gazes.”

An aged voice came from behind them.

Turning around, they saw an old woman with a hunched body walking over, leaning on a strange wooden staff. Her steps were very slow, as if she might fall at any moment, but she needed no one’s support. When Hank, who had come along, made a motion to help her, she waved her hand to signal Hank to step back. She looked extremely aged. Was she eighty? Ninety? Perhaps even older.

Her face was densely covered in wrinkles. Her white hair sparsely hung beside her head. On her body was a somewhat tattered yet clean and neat white robe.

The most striking place was that on her forehead, there was a bright red mole.

She looked like just an ordinary village old woman, yet she gave the feeling of being far from just that.

“Old lady…” Lessa said hesitantly.

“You are Lessa, right?” The old woman suddenly spoke, calling out Lessa’s name. This made Lessa and the others startle abruptly.

The Divine Lady old woman’s eyes swept over the others: “Green, Jacob, hehe, you are Ginny…”

After saying this, she paused. Her shrivelled mouth seemed to smile.

“Ye Chui and Debbie asked me to say hello to you.”

……

In another time and space, Ye Chui, Debbie, and the iPad boy, led by Malens and the others, arrived in Green Leaf Village.

It was called a village, but just as Ye Chui had felt when he first saw it: this place was simply a small city. It was surrounded by a circle of sturdy city walls. The buildings inside the city were also quite grand. It was just that the style was somewhat different from the architectural styles Ye Chui and Debbie knew, with a sense of ancient antiquity. Teams of swordsmen in armour were patrolling in formation. Residents hiding at home could also be seen. They were curiously peeking out to size up Ye Chui, Debbie, and the nearly naked iPad boy.

The iPad’s naked appearance was really too unsightly, so Ye Chui had wrapped his fur coat around its waist to temporarily cover it up. However, this fur mini-skirt was obviously eye-catching enough…

Now the iPad boy was curiously looking around. One hand grabbed Ye Chui’s arm, the other grabbed Debbie’s collar. His body was slightly hunched, and his walking posture was very strange, just like a child going to an unfamiliar place for the first time with his parents…

“Awoo awoo-”

When they reached a corner, a terrifying roar suddenly rang out, startling Ye Chui and Debbie. The iPad boy even instinctively hugged Ye Chui’s leg in a hurry.

When they looked at the thing making the roar, Ye Chui and Debbie both felt a numbness in their heads at the same time: it was a strange magic beast as big as a cow or horse, covered in black scales, with a single horn, a tail full of bone spikes, and folded wings on its back. It had three eyes, and these three eyes were staring deadly at Ye Chui, Debbie, and the iPad boy.

This magic beast was one Ye Chui and Debbie had never seen before. It stood beside a blond magician. The blond magician leaned against the wall, looking at Ye Chui’s side with a full face of amusement.

Obviously, this magic beast belonged to him. He had deliberately made the magic beast roar to scare Ye Chui and the others. Seeing Ye Chui and the others startled, the patrolling swordsmen around and the residents hiding in the houses all let out bursts of laughter.

Ye Chui’s expression became slightly embarrassed.

Malens was somewhat helpless, probably knowing the blond magician’s character. He was about to reprimand the blond magician’s behaviour when, at that moment, the iPad boy suddenly poked his head out and let out a provocative call towards that magic beast.

“Roar-”

That call was not like a human voice, but rather…

A dragon’s roar!

The sound was not very loud, yet it was shocking enough, especially the supreme aura contained in this roar: [Dragon’s Might]

Thud!

That ferocious-looking magic beast immediately flipped over onto the ground, its body convulsing, constantly spewing white foam from its mouth.

Everyone: “…”

“Ya, ya, my name is iPad!” The iPad boy immediately cheered happily, shaking Ye Chui’s arm back and forth.

“Dragon roar, he, he can actually use a dragon roar…” Malens and the others, who already had extremely high evaluations of the iPad boy, were shocked once again!

Giant dragons are the gods among all beasts. The power of giant dragons subjugates all magic beasts, so in the face of a giant dragon’s might, any magic beast must submit. This has nothing to do with rank or power, but is innate… But they had never heard of any human who could learn to use the power of a giant dragon!

Yet Ye Chui understood in his heart that the iPad boy was borrowing the power of the Dragon Treasure. It seemed the iPad could not only use Ye Chui’s spells but also borrow the power of all the heroic spirits summoned by Ye Chui… He could also use Teacher Saitama’s fist, right?

Thinking of this, the tension in Ye Chui’s heart immediately vanished. He quickly patted the iPad boy’s head: “Naughty! Look what you’ve done to someone’s pet. It almost lost control of its bowels.”

“Ya, ya-” The iPad boy immediately looked like he had done something wrong and lowered his head.

“Sorry about that.” Ye Chui said to the blond magician with a cheerful smile.

“…” The blond magician was dumbfounded, squatting in front of his own convulsing magic beast. The expression he looked at Ye Chui with no longer had the previous arrogance and mockery. His gaze was incredibly complex…

“…Let’s hurry and go. We can’t keep the Divine Lady waiting too long.” Malens said at this time. He increasingly felt the peculiarity of Ye Chui’s group.

Afterwards, Ye Chui, Debbie, and the iPad boy arrived at the centre of this village. A magnificent hall was built here. And in the open space in front of this grand hall, there was a big tree. The appearance of that big tree was something Ye Chui and Debbie could not identify. They had never seen a tree of this form before. It had lush green leaves. Now there was not the slightest breeze, but when Ye Chui, Debbie, and iPad approached it, the leaves of this big tree rustled as if swaying, just as if… this tree was alive.

Not alive like a plant, but possessing life like an animal.

A shock quietly fell upon Ye Chui and Debbie’s hearts, making them revere it solemnly. Even the iPad obediently squatted there, his eyes mesmerised by the swaying green leaves.

Malens and the others quietly withdrew.

Then faint footsteps came from that hall.

When Ye Chui turned his head, he saw a girl of seventeen or eighteen walking over, dressed in a white robe, beautiful in appearance yet with an indescribable nobility. The most striking thing was that on her forehead, there was a bright red mole.

“You are the Divine Lady?” Ye Chui asked in surprise. The Divine Lady was the Elven Queen. He had heard that elves all had green hair and pointed ears, but the Divine Lady before him did not have these features.

Hearing Ye Chui’s words, the girl immediately shook her head: “I am not the Divine Lady. I am the maid beside the Divine Lady, Naya, one of the Three Elven Attendants.” Seeing the puzzled looks of Ye Chui and the others, she sighed. “Is that so? So in the world five thousand years later, there are no records left about the Three Elven Attendants?”

Ye Chui and Debbie immediately showed shocked expressions. Unlike Orens and the others, this Naya knew where they came from.

Ye Chui asked in astonishment: “Here… is it really five thousand years ago?”

Although there had been multiple confirmations earlier, Ye Chui still could not quite believe it in his heart, so he asked this mysterious maid once again for confirmation.

But the result greatly surprised Ye Chui and Debbie: “No, here is not five thousand years ago, nor is it five thousand years later. In fact, this place is not any time point you recognise. To explain it would be somewhat troublesome. You can simply think of yourselves as having entered some kind of secret realm. Here, you will witness the final moments of the War of the Gods.”

“You mean the fall of the Elven Queen?” Ye Chui frowned. He knew that the end of the War of the Gods had concluded with the fall of the Elven Queen. “Where is she now? Can I see her?”

Hearing Ye Chui’s words, Viya’s expression seemed somewhat sorrowful for an instant. She stretched out her slender fingers and pointed to the big tree behind Ye Chui and Debbie: “You have already seen her.”

“What!?” Ye Chui and Debbie’s bodies trembled at the same time. The Elven Queen was actually a tree?

“The Elven race was originally a race born on the World Tree.” Viya explained. “For a certain purpose, she transformed her life into this big tree.”

Rustle-

As if responding to Viya’s words, the leaves swayed once again.

“Then what about our companions?” After recovering from the shock, Debbie thought of this question and asked.

“They are not here, but rest assured, I think they will be very safe.” Naya smiled slightly. “If I meet them in the future, I will say hello to them on your behalf.”
