Code Mage Chapter 245

Ye Chui had originally resolved to use the fat steward to enter the capital. Now the capital was under strict guard, with every entrant subjected to rigorous checks. This was partly to prevent wanted criminals like Ye Chui from entering and causing trouble, and partly because the empire was in the most critical phase of imperial succession lately, making it impossible not to guard against any accidents.

Being mocked a few times by the fat steward was nothing; he had the mettle for that in his line of work.

The fat steward saying no performance fee? That was nothing either, since they had never counted on the circus to make money anyway.

But the fat steward wanting Resha to accompany him tonight?

Bloody hell, that was something Ye Chui could not tolerate. He had not even had the chance with Resha… oh no, he had always treated Resha like a little sister. You fat bastard, in your dreams!

So Ye Chui simply stopped holding back and directly smashed the fat steward to the ground with one brick.

As he handed the brick back to Green, the red-armoured swordsmen brought by the fat steward had all reacted, drawing their longswords from their waists with a series of swishes. They were the Red Guards under the Second Prince, a private force commanded by the Second Prince, each one a formidable swordsman of exceptional strength.

“How dare you!”

“You dare assault the steward!”

“Take them down!”

They shouted one after another.

One of them swiftly drew his longsword and slashed towards Ye Chui’s neck. Ye Chui stood motionless, his passive defence already activated. The figure of the armoured swordsman Jarvis instantly appeared at his side. With a clang, it swept away the Red Guard’s longsword, then thrust forward. The longsword whirled back, its sharp edge already at the Red Guard’s neck. Accompanied by a cry of pain, this Red Guard was instantly dealt with by Ye Chui’s passive defence armoured swordsman.

At the same time, another burly Red Guard charged towards Ye Chui. This one did not use ordinary bladed weapons; his weapons were his own fists. He was also extremely tall and sturdy, with fists the size of sand pots wearing gloves forged from diamond and thick leather. The gloves had protruding metal blocks on them, making them look even more terrifying.

Swordsmen were not limited to those who fought with swords; anyone who relied on sword qi in battle could be called a swordsman. This Red Guard was a rare fist fighter, his pair of fists incredibly powerful, capable of killing a swift elephant with one punch. But this time, his fists met their match.

Ye Chui extended one hand, his palm, which looked half the size of the other’s, catching the fist fighter’s punch. Immediately after, Ye Chui’s arm began to swell rapidly, his skin turning a deep green, muscles bulging, and his hand suddenly enlarging to more than twice the size of the fist fighter’s.

Crack, crack, the sound of bones breaking followed. The fist fighter’s iron-hard fists were actually being crushed by Ye Chui’s green hand!

Life magic: [Invincible Hulk]

A spell Ye Chui had comprehended from a film, of course, it differed somewhat from the film. When using this incantation, he did not have to transform his entire body into a green giant; he could choose to change only parts of it.

A look of shock and pain appeared on the fist fighter’s face, his mouth opening as if to cry out, but Ye Chui gave him no chance. With a swing of his large hand, accompanied by the piercing sound of bones snapping, he forcibly broke the fist fighter’s arm in two. The massive fist then slammed down on the fist fighter’s head with a bang. The fist fighter’s upper body crashed heavily to the ground, his lower body involuntarily flipping upwards, producing a heavy thud as he fell.

In the blink of an eye, Ye Chui had dealt with two Red Guards. Meanwhile, as he began the fight, the other several Red Guards swiftly charged towards Debbie, Green, and the rest.

These colourfully dressed swordsmen were no amateurs; they divided their tasks clearly. At the start of the battle, besides the two Red Guards attacking Ye Chui, one charged towards Resha, one towards Green, and the remaining few towards Debbie, Gunny, Danni, and Jacob.

[Holy Word: God’s Bloody Hell]

Resha looked at the Red Guard approaching her and softly recited this in divine script, while reaching into her bosom to touch the sacred Bible she always carried close. Ordinary believers needed to open the Bible to activate its power, but now Resha could skip this step. As long as she touched the Bible, she could activate its power.

Immediately after, a beam of golden light suddenly erupted from under that Red Guard’s feet. It was… a massive fist extending its middle finger!

Bang!

The huge middle finger smashed into the Red Guard’s chin, and with a muffled grunt, the Red Guard’s body was launched three metres into the air. When he hit the ground, he was already unconscious.

The Red Guard charging towards Green swung his longsword towards Green’s neck. The sharp sword qi instantly made Green shiver, but now he was no longer the weak, pathetic gambler from Stan Town. Gripping the brick in his hand, he swiftly swung it through the air. His arm and the brick vanished into thin air, teleporting via spatial transfer to the swordsman’s wrist. Clang! It struck the swordsman’s wrist.

The swordsman cried out in pain from the blow, but he did not drop his longsword because of it. The longsword spun half a circle in the air, the blade turning back, then suddenly flicking upwards from below, stabbing into the brick in Green’s hand. The brick flew out of Green’s grasp, soaring into the air.

Green’s face tightened in urgency.

The next moment, the swordsman gripped his sword with both hands, a ferocious smile appearing on his face under the helmet, thrusting straight towards Green’s chest.

Green hurriedly retreated half a step, while his other hand seemed to recklessly block the swordsman’s blade.

In the blink of an eye, the sharp sword tip touched Green’s arm. However, the bloody scene of it piercing his palm did not occur. The swordsman’s sword seemed to vanish into thin air right before Green, and then the bloodied tip protruded from the swordsman’s own chest—the sword had been thrust through his back. Green had used spatial teleport to redirect the swordsman’s thrust to his own back, letting the forward stab pierce right through him.

This was merely an intermediate spell among spatial archmage spells, [Gate of Space], but Green had practised it to perfection. Though this spell could not teleport attacks beyond its limits, this Red Guard’s strike was well within them.

The Red Guard swordsman wore a face full of shock, never expecting his own sword to stab into his back.

And it was not over yet. Green’s one hand extended outwards as if charging a big move.

The brick that had been knocked flying earlier was rapidly falling. But at half a metre from the ground, a patch of cyan light appeared. The brick sank into it but did not reappear in Green’s hand. Instead, it emerged again at the top of the big tent, about seven or eight metres above the ground, its downward momentum unchanged. At half a metre from the ground, the cyan light caught it again, teleporting it back to seven or eight metres high. This repeated five times.

Spatial teleport did not affect the brick’s falling momentum, so this was equivalent to dropping the brick from forty metres up. The brick’s speed had reached its extreme.

Then Green pointed towards the Red Guard’s ear, where the cyan light shimmered. The brick shot out horizontally from within. Clang! The Red Guard’s shiny red helmet was immediately deformed by the impact. His head lolled to the side, and he collapsed to the ground.

The brick rebounded, caught steadily by Green.

Teleporting the brick back and forth to build up falling momentum—this was a combat style Green had developed himself. Ye Chui had named it [Fivefold Samsara Heaven] for him, of course, the number depending on how many teleports Green performed. It could also be [Tenfold Samsara Heaven], [Twentyfold Samsara Heaven], [Hundredfold Samsara Heaven]; the longer the charge, the greater the power. The ultimate was [Meteor Samsara Heaven].

That was a cheat move equivalent to the might of a meteor crashing from outer space to earth…

Of course, such power existed only in Ye Chui’s theory for now.

At present, Green could at most unleash the power of [Tenfold Samsara Heaven].

Just as Green dealt with this Red Guard, he suddenly heard Debbie’s cry of alarm.

“Ouch, Gunny, stop, this table cost two gold coins…”

Turning to look, six Red Guards were charging towards Debbie, Gunny, and the others. Gunny’s greatsword was stored in Ye Chui’s grimoire, and she had no suitable weapon at hand for the moment, so she simply lifted the sturdy table in the middle of the room with one hand. The table was something Debbie had bought while shopping in a nearby city recently; the tabletop was thick and heavy, inlaid with gold edges, looking luxurious and elegant. Now it was being used by Gunny as a weapon.

Whoosh—

With a gust of wind, it was like swatting flies as she smashed it towards those Red Guards.

Boom!

The tabletop shattered into pieces, splintering apart. Four Red Guards panicked and dodged away, but two unfortunates were hit squarely. As the table broke, they were directly knocked unconscious. The remaining four now realised this circus was no ordinary outfit; their companions were being taken down one after another.

“These people… run, they’re not normal!” One cried out in alarm, leading the way towards the exit of the big tent.

“No one is getting away!” Debbie shouted angrily amid the splintering of the dining table. Immediately after, a golden light appeared from outside the tent, flashing with crisscrossing sword qi. Three of the four cried out in pain and tumbled back inside.

The fully golden Gilga walked in from outside, gripping her sword.

The remaining Red Guard seemed somewhat shocked. Choosing not to clash head-on with the others, he charged towards one side of the tent instead. His red armoured exterior suddenly ignited with black flames. The leather tent fabric was burned open with a large hole as he burst through, a charred stench wafting in. Ye Chui frowned, seeing the tent leather where the Red Guard had broken through now burning. This also made Ye Chui realise this Red Guard was an archmage!

But why had he not seen his grimoire?

Ye Chui quickly judged the situation. His body immediately dispersed into a swarm of small bats, a rustling sound as they passed through the hole, catching up to the fleeing Red Guard and surrounding him in an instant.

The Red Guard swung his arms forcefully, and suddenly a layer of black flames ignited over his body.

Those flames had an incredibly scorching temperature. Ye Chui’s bats felt the intense heat and hurriedly flew away from him, reforming into Ye Chui’s figure. But he immediately cast another spell: elven magic [Wood Release: Four Pillars Prison]. Vines sprouted from the ground, firmly binding the Red Guard.

The vines touched the black flames and rapidly turned to ash, but new vines immediately grew from the ashes. Though they could not bind the Red Guard for long, it was enough to restrain him momentarily.

A cannon’s figure had already appeared on Ye Chui’s body, the barrel aimed at the Red Guard, preparing to blast him first and ask questions later.

However, at that moment, the Red Guard suddenly emitted a familiar girl’s voice.

“Mr Ye Chui, is this how you treat an old friend?”

As she spoke, she removed her helmet, revealing a head of golden hair, and ran her hand over her face. The originally rough features instantly transformed into a clear and beautiful girl’s face.

Ye Chui was immediately startled.

Green, Debbie, and the others also rushed out from the tent. Seeing this person, they too showed expressions of surprise.

“How is it you, Shirley!” Debbie cried out in shock.

This Red Guard was none other than Shirley, the golden-haired big sister maid from the mercenary guild in Stan Town!
