Code Mage Chapter 309

Ye Chui’s newly created spell was precisely a skill from a very famous game in his previous life. This spell was an explosion-type one, its comprehension drawn from Ye Chui’s experiences playing that game character, its principles based on other explosion spells, and as for constraints, it required hovering in the air during use and imposed a lengthy cooldown after casting.

However, these constraints were utterly negligible compared to the spell’s power. The spell’s name was naturally [Heaven’s Justice Descends].

Creating this spell cost Ye Chui three thousand points.

Amid the relentless barrage of cannon shells, the Tenth Prince, who had been facing a siege from several people and a dragon, suddenly fell into disadvantage. His body shook repeatedly, the spirit body layer covering him beginning to shatter continuously. Even the Tenth Prince within the spirit body armour turned pale, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He had clearly sustained considerable injuries and felt immense pressure.

It was worth noting that earlier, while entangled with Long Bao, Jacob, Guni, and the others, his expression had remained utterly composed, but Ye Chui’s new spell had evidently exceeded his expectations.

“Ye Chui!” The Tenth Prince’s heart surged with shock and fury. He let out an enraged roar, and the shattered spirit body armour abruptly restored itself somewhat. With a fierce swing of one arm, a spirit body spear shot through the air, stabbing straight towards Ye Chui.

Ye Chui instantly cancelled [Heaven’s Justice Descends], his body twisting aside.

[Heaven’s Justice Descends] had no time limit for casting; as long as magic power held out, it could continue indefinitely. But an interruption triggered the long spell cooldown.

Disrupting Ye Chui’s spell and seeing him falling towards the ground, the Tenth Prince immediately hurled another spear. This time, however, Long Bao swatted it away with its massive dragon might. The spirit body on the Tenth Prince was in tatters, his injuries mounting, but evidently not enough to cripple him utterly. The ragged spirit body armour began regenerating rapidly.

The Tenth Prince’s eyes bloodshot, he glared furiously at Ye Chui, who had landed amid a scorched patch of earth. With one hand, he swept aside the incoming Blue Knight and Guni, enduring Long Bao’s sprayed dragon flames as he charged towards Ye Chui, roaring, “Your magic cannot harm me, Ye Chui! I will tear you apart completely. You are dead!” But at that moment, a massive hexagonal crystal suddenly materialised above his head, like an enormous snowflake. The ice crystal came from Posli.

Though the Heavenly Maiden Phase magic guide book commanded all elements, its most potent spells were ice-based. After seeing Ye Chui’s magic interrupted, Posli immediately unleashed this powerful spell.

The Heavenly Maiden Phase magic guide book contained countless spells, which Posli could not possibly master all at once. However, as its inheritor, over the years she had familiarised herself with many, allowing her to wield several strong ones upon comprehension. This current ice spell was the strongest she could use for now.

Advanced ice spell: [Ice Queen’s Ice Storm]

The floating hexagonal crystal abruptly emanated bone-chilling cold. One after another, ice swords coalesced from within, raining down on the Tenth Prince like arrows. Each ice sword pierced his spirit body armour instantly upon contact, then branched out sequentially, fusing together like thorny ancient trees that ensnared him tightly. In a flash, the Tenth Prince’s body froze into a massive ice figure.

Yet in terms of power, this spell surpassed Ye Chui’s [Heaven’s Justice Descends] by a margin. Before Posli could relax, however, the ice giant stirred. Ice chunks at its joints shattered and fell away. It staggered forward, carrying the Tenth Prince’s roar of peak fury, continuing towards Ye Chui.

[Ice Queen’s Ice Storm] had failed utterly to halt the Tenth Prince’s movements!

Posli’s face grew tense. “He has become this powerful…”

“Do not just stand there marvelling. Hurry and use another spell.” Under the protection of the Valkyrie Jiji, Debbie rushed to Posli’s side. The girl wore a face full of worry; the Tenth Prince was steadily advancing on Ye Chui.

Posli panicked too. “I, the strongest spell I can use right now is this one…”

“You cannot be serious. A phase archmage this useless!” Debbie exclaimed at Posli in astonishment.

This infuriated Posli greatly. “Of course I have many powerful spells: super spells, ultimate spells, arcane spells, and more. But I just awakened; those cannot be learned from prior practice alone… The Tenth Prince is too strong now. He cannot be slain easily. That level of power is beyond your comprehension.”

“Forget it. I will handle it myself.” Debbie interrupted Posli with a disdainful look. The girl took a deep breath, waved her hand to recall Jiji to the hero spirit world, and a colourful summoning portal materialised beside her.

Evidently, Debbie was preparing to summon another hero spirit. Posli gave a helpless smile. “Debbie, your hero spirits cannot oppose the Tenth Prince. At least you would need…” Her voice cut off abruptly.

A powerful, terrifying aura surged from the summoning portal. Merely sensing it paled Posli’s face, her gaze turning involuntarily to Debbie in shock. Debbie wore a tense expression, as if holding back a massive ultimate move.

“…a legendary-level hero spirit?” Posli finished her earlier sentence. And without doubt, Debbie was now summoning a legendary hero spirit: the ancestor clown hero spirit!

Posli: “…”

“Summoning him costs too much, so I rarely do it…” Debbie’s voice trembled slightly. Even now, with her magic power far vaster than in Clown Town, summoning the ancestor clown demanded an enormous toll.

However, Debbie soon realised she did not need to summon the clown ancestor hero spirit after all.

For a strange rumbling suddenly interrupted with a boom.

Everyone turned simultaneously towards the sound’s source. It came from beside Ye Chui.

Now, beside Ye Chui appeared a bizarre… rectangular object, low at the front and high at the rear, with four wheels, a black oddity. Of course, they had no idea this was actually a car.

Ye Chui’s magic guide book had newly unlocked the mall function. The mall allowed purchasing items from unlocked films and anime using points. Currently, Ye Chui had unlocked only three: Fast and Furious, The Revenant, and One Punch Hero Spirit. (Comprehensions and BGMs did not count as unlocks.)

Any item appearing in these three works could be bought from the mall.

Among them, the variety of cars was countless, priced between 100 and 1000 points.

The car Ye Chui had just purchased was the one driven by bald Dom Toretto in the finale of Fast Seven: the modified Dodge Charger R/T, the very vehicle that dragged a safe across the highway in a rampage. With over two thousand horsepower, it cost a mere seven hundred points to buy!

“…”

The rumbling was the car’s engine roar. Staring at this strange thing, Debbie, Posli, and the others gaped in astonishment. They also noticed someone in the driver’s seat: the familiar bald Dom Toretto to Debbie and the rest. After buying the car, Ye Chui had promptly summoned the veteran driver Dom. He patted the roof and pointed at the Tenth Prince approaching step by step.

Dom Toretto gave Ye Chui a thumbs-up. With a “vroom vroom vroom” of the engine, the black car shot forward like an arrow from a bow, slamming into the Tenth Prince with a boom.

The tremendous horsepower and explosive acceleration shattered the Tenth Prince’s surface ice layer in an instant, then shoved him scraping along the ground forward.

“Aaah!” The Tenth Prince roared continuously.

Stunned, Posli halted [Ice Queen’s Ice Storm]. The Tenth Prince’s fists pounded the car’s bonnet furiously, yet could not halt the steel beast’s charging force.

Finally, only after his back hit a waist-thick tree did he stop completely. The car’s rear wheels skidded on the ground, pinning him against the tree. Smoke billowed from the front, sparks flying. Dom hurriedly shoved open the door, leaping out with agile poise. The car then exploded with a boom.

This car had never been a solid entity to begin with, formed by magic; its explosion lacked true potency. The parts dissipated into nothingness upon disintegration. Yet this sci-fi action scene in a fantasy world still shocked everyone profoundly. Debbie, who had been charging her ultimate, relaxed, and the summoning portal vanished into thin air.

The safely escaped Dom waved at Ye Chui, nodded in salute, and faded away.

The Tenth Prince roared on, swinging to snap the tree behind him at the waist. The car crash and explosion had inflicted no real harm, but the humiliation burned deep. He prepared to attack Ye Chui again.

Posli hurriedly recast [Ice Queen’s Ice Storm] to bind his movements once more. Sweat beaded on her forehead. “It is no use. I cannot hold him. This is the storm’s maximum power, but it needs at least double to freeze him completely…”

No sooner had she spoken than Posli’s expression froze. Another hexagonal ice crystal appeared in the air, identical to hers. Ice swords shot from it one after another, bombarding the Tenth Prince just the same.

Someone was using [Ice Queen’s Ice Storm] too!

And the spell’s power matched hers exactly!

Who?

Posli soon looked towards the approaching Ye Chui. Without doubt, the caster was Ye Chui.

“You… how do you know this spell? Impossible!” Posli cried out.

“Learned it from you. This spell’s power is indeed impressive.” Ye Chui said with a cheerful grin. Mastering it so quickly owed to the magic guide book’s newly upgraded ability [Thunder]. After Posli awakened her book, Ye Chui had entered her memory world and found the skill panel. As expected of a phase archmage; her post-awakening skills were innumerable, like a treasure trove of spells.

Many appeared grey, meaning she knew them but could not yet use them. Ye Chui searched and found the Ice Queen series’ Ice Storm, then used Thunder to download it.

Ye Chui had long awakened the ability to download spells, but downloads usually yielded fragments, with slim chances of full versions. Resources could not be re-downloaded, and speeds were glacial, so he rarely used it. Yet [Thunder] resolved all that perfectly.

It allowed seamless downloads of complete spell data, with speeds qualitatively boosted!

Spell size was measured not in bytes, but lines of code.

Simplest elemental spells: one line. Beginner spells: dozens of lines. Intermediate: hundreds. More lines meant greater power. [Ice Queen’s Ice Storm] spanned tens of thousands of lines. Fortunately, Ye Chui’s Thunder downloaded at two hundred lines per second; downloading the storm took just over two minutes.

Downloading cost points: Ye Chui spent four thousand five hundred.

But the spell’s power proved extraordinary.

Under Posli’s gaze, as if her worldview had reset, he used it against the Tenth Prince. This time, the Tenth Prince’s body stilled utterly, turning into a solid ice mountain.

“He is not dead yet…” Posli frowned. “But the storm’s freeze inflicts extreme damage. If we keep using it long enough, we can wear him down to death. Or have Miss Debbie continue summoning that legendary hero spirit…”

“Why bother with all that?” Ye Chui gave Posli a faint smile. He halted the spell, preparing to use a newly upgraded ability.

[Safety Guard]’s upgrade: [Divine Guard Suit]!

This iPad magic guide book ability initially formed a defensive shield against attacks. Upgraded to iPad 2, it summoned armoured swordsman Jarvis. Now at Air version, Ye Chui could form the armour directly on his body: [Divine Guard Suit]. But it was more than mere armour.

Upon activating [Divine Guard Suit], intricate tattoos emerged across Ye Chui’s skin. To him, they resembled circuit boards: lines and dots. The tattoos crawled over his body, limbs, even head, converging at his chest. They seemed like a mystical garment worn over his skin, and the iPad magic guide book vanished.

Only the fire-type junk magic guide book remained beside him. A gleam flashed in Ye Chui’s eyes; his vision altered.

A voice rang in his ear: “Master, at your service.” From Aipade.

[Divine Guard Suit] was a wondrous armour adhering to his skin’s surface; the iPad magic guide book had fully integrated into his body now.

“Feels good.” Ye Chui examined his hands; the tattoos on his arms resembled bizarre, cool gauntlets. Through his mind, he addressed Aipade. “What day is it today?”

“Master, today is Wednesday.”

“Is it? What a shame. Unlocking One Punch Hero Spirit’s daily turn.”

“Unlock complete. Shall I channel One Punch Hero Spirit’s power into your body?” Aipade continued.

[Divine Guard Suit]’s ability granted Ye Chui direct access to the iPad magic guide book’s functions: spellcasting, photography, and of course, hero spirit summoning. In this state, summoning a hero spirit transformed Ye Chui into the spirit itself, gaining all its abilities, akin to spirit possession combat.

He had unlocked today’s One Punch Hero Spirit use, attaching its power to himself. Thus, he could throw Saitama-sensei’s punch.

“Yes, channel it into my body.” Ye Chui smiled faintly, leaping into the air.

Mid-flight, he punched towards the Tenth Prince’s ice mountain below!

Now, he was One Punch Man!
