The strange heroic spirits summoned by Ye Chui left everyone utterly dumbfounded. Once again they realised that Ye Chui possessed methods no one could even dream of.
These heroic spirits also displayed the ability to fight in perfect coordination. When they worked together, it felt as though even an army of thousands would be nothing to them.
Everyone else threw themselves into battle against the Spirits of Faith.
A towering swordsman clad in heavy armour and wielding a battleaxe suddenly roared and charged straight at Elisa, who stood beneath the spatial gate bathed in the radiance of faith. He clearly understood that killing Elisa was the only way to end the flood of Spirits of Faith once and for all.
His axe, powerful enough to split mountains, swung down towards Elisa’s head with a mighty shout. Elisa merely raised one arm. Clang. With that dull sound, the razor-sharp blade was caught in Elisa’s palm. Crack, crack. Fractures spread rapidly from the point of contact across both the palm and the axe.
A mocking smile appeared on Elisa’s face, which shone with white light. “The strength of a sinner cannot harm me…”
Boom!
Before he could finish, the Hulk crashed into him like a raging bull in a barbaric charge. Elisa’s words were cut off abruptly. His body was sent flying, scraping along the ground and carving a deep furrow in the stone pavement before smashing heavily into the wall of a tavern by the roadside.
The tavern, said to have a history of over a hundred years with walls of solid stone, collapsed in an instant.
Though Elisa had been flung away, the gate still spewing endless Spirits of Faith showed no sign of closing.
“Roar, roar—” The Hulk bellowed in primal fury. He pounded the ground with both fists and charged angrily towards the rubble burying Elisa. The Hulk possessed limitless strength. The more anger he felt, the more power he gained. His fists were pure, overwhelming force. Right now he had no reason left in him; he only wanted to smash everything in sight to pieces.
Of course, as a heroic spirit summoned by Ye Chui, he still followed Ye Chui’s orders. At this moment Ye Chui had told him to attack Elisa.
He was rage incarnate. He landed among the ruins. Boom! Boom! Each strike shook the earth. White light seeped from the debris. Suddenly a withered hand shot out and stopped the Hulk’s casserole-sized fist. The next instant, with a tremendous boom, the Hulk’s enormous body was hurled skyward by an immense force. He crashed back to the ground amid violent tremors.
Elisa emerged from the rubble looking slightly dishevelled. His originally blood-stained crimson robe had lost every trace of blood under the glow of faith. Even the robe itself had turned pure white, leaving only the most immaculate white.
“Sinner…” he said in a hoarse voice that made one’s bones shiver.
Following Ye Chui’s instructions, the modified Captain America and Thor charged at him.
Terrifying thunderbolts rained down from the sky towards Elisa.
He simply waved a hand. The lightning twisted and reflected back. One bolt struck the modified Thor, sending his body flying backwards. Another bolt shot towards the modified Captain America, who blocked it with the husky shield. Boom. He was still smashed into a nearby wall.
Whoosh—
Whoosh—
Two arrows streaked towards Elisa.
The modified Hawkeye and Bart were attacking from a distance.
Elisa calmly waved a hand. He swatted Bart’s arrow aside and caught the modified Hawkeye’s arrow.
How could such attacks possibly hit him?
He gave a cold smile towards Hawkeye standing atop a distant tower.
Boom!
The arrow he held exploded in his hand.
Yet the blast only ruffled his hair slightly. He sustained no damage whatsoever and only grew angrier. “You shall face divine punishment!”
Several members of the magic guilds and mercenary groups seized the chance to attack, but none of their strikes could harm Elisa. He neutralised them effortlessly. As he swept his holy robe, a powerful aura prevented anyone from drawing near.
At that moment a strange magical construct suddenly appeared high in the sky.
“Veronica…” Ye Chui’s gaze shifted from his grimoire to the construct in the air, a trace of reluctance in his eyes. In the films, Veronica was the name of a space station, the anti-Hulk armour Tony Stark had built specifically to counter the Hulk. It could be deployed in emergencies for Iron Man to wear and fight the Hulk. It was Iron Man’s most powerful suit.
It did not belong to the heroic spirit summoning category. To use it required spending three thousand points to purchase it from the shop.
Seeing how resilient Elisa was proving, Ye Chui had no choice but to redeem this exclusive Iron Man equipment.
Veronica appeared diamond-shaped, clearly a magically modified version very different from the film version. As Ye Chui redeemed it, components detached from it one by one and fell rapidly towards Elisa. Bang, bang, bang. Each piece was engraved with intricate magical runes. They landed around Elisa and formed a magical cage. Magical elements quickly gathered and swirled over the cage, firmly suppressing Elisa inside.
More components flew towards Iron Man and reassembled on his body, transforming him into a figure no smaller than the Hulk, over three metres tall.
Boom!
Elisa shattered the cage and shot furiously into the sky. The Hulk roared and leapt up, slamming both fists into Elisa and smashing him back to the ground like a meteor.
The anti-Hulk Iron Man strode forward with heavy steps, pinned Elisa down, and hammered him with fists like pile drivers.
The sight… made everyone nearby instinctively feel pity for the withered old man.
Yet as a Red Archbishop, Elisa was clearly not going to be defeated by such attacks. His hands suddenly seized the anti-Hulk Iron Man’s fists. Those seemingly frail, withered fingers dug deep into the massive steel fists. Sparks flew. The two gigantic fists deformed and crumpled like children’s clay.
Bang, bang. Both arms were torn clean off the anti-Hulk Iron Man.
Iron Man retreated swiftly. Veronica in the sky rapidly detached more parts that fused onto the anti-Hulk suit, reassembling new arms.
The Hulk seized the chance to charge again. He wrapped his arms around Elisa from behind, one enormous hand clamping Elisa’s torso while the other raised a massive fist and pounded the exposed upper half of Elisa’s body. With a roar he hurled Elisa towards the newly re-armed anti-Hulk Iron Man.
During this, the modified Thor struck Elisa with a colossal lightning bolt, sending him streaking through the air trailing electricity straight into Iron Man.
Iron Man opened his arms wide, chest forward, and unleashed a full-power repulsor blast…
…
The anti-Hulk armour and the Hulk, who had delivered one of the most spectacular fights in the films, were now unleashing their most savage power in a frenzied assault on Elisa.
Some onlookers in the distance were already stunned.
They were not shocked merely because Ye Chui’s summoned heroic spirits were powerful, but because these attack methods were, in their eyes, utterly bizarre and inconceivable…
Although Elisa appeared uninjured under such onslaught, only slightly battered, the sheer strength of a Red Archbishop allowed him to withstand these terrifying blows. Still, the battle completely overturned everyone’s understanding of combat.
In short, the scene was too gruesome to watch.
Ye Chui’s other summoned heroic spirits continued fighting the endless Spirits of Faith. The modified Quicksilver zipped around at blinding speed, evacuating civilians who were nearly caught in the crossfire.
Evans, now awake again, rejoined the fray. Using the supreme sword skill [Slash] that Ye Chui had granted him, a single cry of “Someone’s pulling down my zipper!” let him reap six Spirits of Faith in one swing and achieve a sextuple kill without difficulty.
But at that very moment, “Have—you—had—ENOUGH!!!???” A heaven-shaking roar of pure fury erupted. Elisa had finally been enraged beyond limit. Blinding light like the sun burst from him.
The Hulk’s body was flung away once more. The anti-Hulk Iron Man instinctively tried to dodge, only to be seized by a gigantic arm formed of pure light. Crack, crack. The mighty anti-Hulk armour shattered and fell to the ground as scrap metal. Tony Stark inside was revealed. He detached from the ruined suit and tried to flee, but the white light swallowed him. With a muffled groan, Iron Man’s armour was destroyed. Tony was hurled away in a battered heap.
Elisa’s entire body radiated holy brilliance. The light no longer merely emanated from him; he had fused completely with the power of faith.
A Saint-level Magic Mentor could merge their body with magical elements and become the element or rule itself. A Red Archbishop could merge with the power of faith and become a body of pure sacred light.
“Aaaah—God, what have I done—”
In his full eruption, Elisa regained complete clarity. He realised Ye Chui had controlled him and that countless believers had died by his own hand. Rage unlike anything he had ever felt consumed him.
His eyes burned with the flames of faith as they fixed on Ye Chui. “What have you done to me!? You sinner against God, I will utterly destroy you—” In his fury, Elisa seemed to have lost all reason. Even a half-step Saint-level expert like Sherar paled and retreated in panic.
Several swordsmen standing near Elisa instinctively raised their weapons. The next instant their bodies turned to ash beneath the white light radiating from him.
“You will die!”
Elisa declared coldly to Ye Chui.
A terrifying attack descended upon Ye Chui.
This attack had no physical substance and could not be defended against, for no magical energy gathered towards Ye Chui. At this moment, every word Elisa spoke carried immense power. This was the most fearsome aspect of holy words. He said Ye Chui would die, and so Ye Chui had to die. The horrifying “words become reality” power took effect instantly. Ye Chui’s life force began draining uncontrollably.
Even the passive defence of the grimoire’s armour swordsman could not block such an attack.
Tension flashed across Ye Chui’s face, but he still had a trump card.
His fingers swiftly swiped across the iPad grimoire.
A beam of blue light appeared, materialising into the form of a girl who stood protectively in front of him: Akuya!
The Akuya shield.
“Eh?” The idiot goddess appeared suddenly, looking completely bewildered.
When Elisa saw Akuya, his mind reeled violently. Though he had regained clarity, the sudden sight of Akuya and his faith in the goddess caused him to freeze for a moment. The “words become reality” power bearing down on Ye Chui instantly dissolved.
“False goddess!” Elisa roared in fury the next instant. A flash of white light sent Akuya flying. His face was cold and merciless. Under that terrifying attack, no one could survive. With a wave of his hand he had killed this ridiculous girl…
“Ow ow ow, that hurt! Aren’t you my believer? Why are you attacking me…” Akuya scrambled up from the ground, shouting angrily.
Elisa: “…?”
Though Akuya was an idiot, she was still a genuine goddess of her world. Her feathered dress possessed max-level defence, and as a goddess she had immense immunity to faith-based powers. Ye Chui immediately gave Akuya a thumbs-up. “You hold him off. I’m going back to charge up a big one!”
With that, while Elisa’s rage was entirely focused on Akuya and he had no attention to spare, Ye Chui quickly withdrew and vanished.
Akuya: “Aaaaaaaaah—”
