Code Mage Chapter 522

The Church’s Bible is the source of power for every believer, the weapon with which believers manipulate the power of faith.

The Bible is divided into many chapters, recording numerous famous quotes and aphorisms. Every believer knows that every sentence recorded in the Bible possesses power, and whether one can unearth that power depends on the believer’s aptitude and depth of understanding. Most believers can proficiently master the power in the majority of the Bible’s chapters, while a very few can delve deeply into a specific sentence and derive power from it.

An even smaller number of people can sublimate the sentence they have studied, transforming the sentence itself into a form of power.

Just like Tixis.

Three hundred years ago, Tixis was a nun in a remote church in the Yellow Sand Empire. Back then, she was an innocent and enthusiastic young girl who used her pure faith to inspire lost believers, inviting them to listen to the teachings of God and leading them towards the path of salvation.

But one day, after she took in a vagrant to the church, that vagrant shamelessly raped her.

From that moment, anger and hatred twisted her soul. The most innocent people are the easiest to corrupt, because the emptiness in their hearts is most readily filled with the filthiest colours. Tixis furiously killed the vagrant, but the endless hatred in her heart prevented her from letting go. She began to hate all vagrants, then all men with thick beards like him, and eventually all men and all women.

The paranoid nun became a demon of the night, turning that border town of the Yellow Sand Empire into a place of deathly stillness.

Her actions instead ignited everyone’s zeal for the Church. In those days, the church she guarded was filled daily with large gatherings of believers who together beseeched divine blessings to save the town from its calamity.

Tixis watched these believers coldly. The remnants of goodness in her heart stirred a trace of regret.

What was the point of killing so many people?

The Bible said, “You cannot kill a person twice.” She had already killed that vagrant. No matter how she vented her anger on others, she could not kill him twice. What meaning was there in all this?

In the midst of madness, paranoia, anger, and regret, these extreme emotions led the suffering Tixis to enlightenment from the words “You cannot kill a person twice.” What she had done was meaningless, and that meaninglessness was itself the greatest meaning. With her enlightenment, the power contained in those words descended upon her. She began to laugh maniacally, as if she had suddenly grasped the true essence of faith.

Then she slaughtered everyone in the entire church.

Later, she was wanted by the Yellow Sand Empire and by the Church. She was called “Mad Tixis,” the most notorious “nun killer” and “believer demon” of that era. She committed grave, unforgivable sins. The records Lesha had seen in the church archives were beautified by the Church, yet they were still enough to shock her. Her true crimes were far more horrific than recorded.

After thirteen years on the run, Tixis finally fell into the hands of the Divine Punishment Army and was detained back to the great cathedral in the Holy City.

She thought what awaited her was a trial ending in death. Her sins could not be forgiven. She had even smiled and prepared to welcome death. However, what appeared before her was the tear-streaked face of the Pope at that time.

“God’s favoured child, you have finally returned to our side,” the aged voice of the Pope said.

From then on, she remained by the Pope’s side, becoming one of the most terrifying assassins in the Divine Punishment Division.

The faith of the Church was, after all, no more than this.

She could incarnate into thousands. Her own power might not be great, but no one could escape her sanctions. The same attack that killed her once could not kill her again. Even when one of her incarnations died of old age, she became immune to “life exhaustion” from then on, achieving immortality.

“You are called the Omnipotent Magician, so I very much want to see how many kinds of magic you can use to kill me. Can you really kill me in ten thousand ways?” The voice blending all the town’s people rang out. On the quiet street, those zombie-like figures approached, dragging their weapons, expressions blank, steps staggering. These people did not have great combat strength, but their immunity to attacks made them extraordinarily terrifying.

“Fire burning, lightning strikes, freezing, wind blowing, explosions. You can use all your power to attack me. Do not disappoint me. Come, kill me. Kill me ten thousand times.” The voice shouted somewhat madly.

Turtle Treasure had already deployed a defensive array, enveloping everyone, but she was unsure if her barrier could withstand these foes or if they would immunise her defensive power too.

“President, what do we do?” Green frowned as he took a knife from his storage space. It was an ordinary dagger. His most powerful abilities had already been countered by the enemy, making him somewhat nervous.

“Killing her ten thousand times is simple. These people do not have much combat strength. It’s just that there are still many aspects of these guys we haven’t figured out,” Ye Chui said, his brow furrowed.

He had said he would kill Tixis ten thousand times, and he truly had that ability. Tixis was too confident, thinking it was merely a title, but in reality, Ye Chui, who could unlock an entire film library from his original world, had far more than ten thousand ways to kill. Those film artists had long imagined every possible method of causing death.

But unlocking those films one by one would be too troublesome, and points were an issue. Moreover, Ye Chui did not want to risk exhausting all his means against Tixis. If he failed to kill her this time, she would become a weapon specifically tailored against him, completely immune to his attacks. He had to be vigilant about this.

Ye Chui wanted to conduct a few more tests.

“Green, try attacking them with the knife in your hand,” Ye Chui said.

Green nodded quickly and swung the knife. His arm teleported through space, instantly appearing beside one of the controlled people, whom we can call a zombie. With a slash, he struck the neck.

That zombie spurted blood from its neck and collapsed.

Then Green attacked a second zombie in the same way, but this time the zombie had immunised against his attack.

“Try switching to another ordinary knife,” Ye Chui thought and said.

So Green took out a boning knife from storage and attacked.

This time, the zombie still immunised against it.

“Let me try.” Ye Chui took the knife from Green and, using space teleportation, slashed the neck of a zombie.

That zombie spurted blood and fell!

But when he attacked a second zombie, he could no longer harm it.

Everyone was somewhat surprised.

“Just now, Ye Chui, you used Green’s brick and couldn’t harm them, but why can you now injure them with a knife that Green had already immunised?” Debbie asked in surprise. As she asked, she realised the answer herself. “They immunise against attacks from the same type of magical creation. For ordinary weapons, as long as a different person uses it, they cannot immunise! In other words, with ordinary weapons, what they immunise is not the knife itself, but the power of that person!”

“In that case…” Ye Chui nodded and looked at Guni. “You go and slash them with your sword.”

Guni had long been impatient. Hearing Ye Chui, she immediately stepped out of Turtle Treasure’s defensive array, swinging her vibranium greatsword in a blooming slash towards several zombies ahead.

The immensely powerful sword, capable of splitting mountains, violently struck those zombies, sending them flying, but it could not harm them. The zombies rolled on the ground, soon got up, and continued shuffling over.

Guni’s eyes widened in shock. She looked doubtfully at her greatsword, as if unable to understand when her strikes had become so ineffective.

“Alright, Guni, come back,” Ye Chui called.

“Let me try again,” Guni said unwillingly.

Ye Chui sighed helplessly, teleported directly to her side via space, and forcibly pulled her back. He explained to her, “These zombies can indeed immunise against the same type of magical creation. Green’s brick, your greatsword, and Sharleme’s mace are all vibranium weapons. They have now completely immunised against this kind of modified weapon.”

In summary, killing them once immunises them against the same system of magic, the same class of magical creation, and secondary damage from the same person using ordinary weapons.

“Then, I wonder if a group attack could kill them all at once?” Debbie thought for a moment and said. She thought of Gilga’s Golden Starfall. Using this powerful sword skill could wipe out all the zombies in the town in one go.

“Let me try,” Bart stepped forward. Their group did not have many area attacks. Ye Chui’s ice magic, Dragon Treasure’s flame breath, and Debbie’s Kryptonian Swordswoman were area magics, but they were precious. If the enemy could immunise these, it would not be worth it. Bart knew his place and volunteered his power for the experiment.

Without waiting for Ye Chui to speak, he drew his longbow, pulled it full, and the phantom beast auras of Mad Dragon and Divine Dragon emanated.

Double Dragons!

In the roar, a cyan and a yellow dragon coiled around the arrow shot from Bart’s bow, charging towards the slowly approaching zombies. “Boom.” The powerful Double Dragons directly collapsed many houses on both sides of the street, kicking up dust and stones like a hurricane.

The zombies were instantly swallowed by the Double Dragons. In the cyan and yellow phantoms, Ye Chui narrowed his eyes. He saw the zombies swaying like willow catkins in the wind, but soon one zombie’s body suddenly shattered into dust. Then the other zombies seemed fully resistant to the Double Dragons’ power, their bodies no longer trembling, as if the force could no longer harm them at all!

“Area attacks cannot deal with them either. It only kills one, and then the others immunise!” Bart, breathing slightly heavily after releasing Double Dragons, concluded in surprise.

“No, that Double Dragons attack actually killed five of them,” Ye Chui stared at the grimoire screen, observing the dense red dots. He reached a conclusion, his voice carrying a hint of joy.

“Five? Little brother, did you see wrong? Clearly only one died,” Lesha said strangely.

“Indeed, only one died directly under the Double Dragons’ power, but just now Bart’s Double Dragons collapsed that building over there, killing two under the rubble. Another was struck by the force onto a swordsman’s battle axe, which pierced through and killed him. And one swordsman, gripping his sword, was knocked down by the impact and impaled himself on it,” Ye Chui explained.

With the grimoire map’s assistance, he could perceive the zombies’ conditions more clearly and know what had happened in that instant.

He began rapidly searching the film library in his grimoire. He had figured out the method to counter Tixis’s more than ten thousand incarnations!

Debbie, Lesha, Green, Bart, and the others vaguely understood something too. These zombies could not be killed by the same force twice, but two zombies had died simultaneously under collapsing rubble, and two swordsmen had died on their own weapons from the Double Dragons’ impact. This meant.

“They cannot immunise against accidents!?” Lesha concluded.

“But how do we create accidents?” Debbie followed, thinking of a rare and terrifying magic. “Curse magic?”

As if hearing Debbie, the zombies approaching them suddenly paused for a moment.

Among curse magics was one that brought misfortune, causing all sorts of accidents. This magic was also known as Misfortune Magic!

Debbie continued, “Ye Chui, you want to use curse magic, but will they immunise against your curse?”

“My curse magic can create all kinds of deadly accidents. The curse is not targeted at them individually but at the surrounding environment. Just now, five died under Bart’s Double Dragons, proving they can immunise against Double Dragons but not the accidents caused by it. My magic will definitely succeed!” Ye Chui smiled. He had already unlocked a powerful curse.

Looking at the approaching zombies, Ye Chui stepped forward a few paces and lightly tapped the screen.
